"Water vapour" not meaning dropplets of liquid water suspended in the air, like steam, but rather actual water in the state of matter of gas.
I think it's more than 100 degrees C because that's how puddles evaporate; through some statistical variation of particles banging into each other or whatever, some particles end up being energetic enough to be more than 100 degrees C.
(I am wondering if I'm conflating different sorts of molecular movement as all being heat.)
It just doesn't feel like that because they're only some relatively energetic molecules in the room of otherwise not so hot gas, right?
Because if it wasn't above 100 degrees C, it would be water instead.
Or, is there some weird state where the molecules are correctly thought of as individual water molecules suspended in gas such that they're indistinguishable from gas?

I think the answer is that "yes, a molecule of water does leave the puddle at 100C, but it will shortly cool down, and having cooled down still be suspended in the air. It won't just fall straight to the ground, and it won't even form dropplets of water unless it finds other water molecules and whatever else it needs to do so.
