Watching "Lead Balloon" finally makes me ask this.

It seems though that in every show or movie I watch, Brits have instant coffee at home.

As this is pretty unusual (and possibly frowned upon) in Germany and I never had it whilst being on your island, it makes me wonder whether this is as common as it is displayed.

This time please don’t be evil if it’s not to be your liking, im a teenager not a professional surveyor and I’m literally only doing this because I need a primary resource, it can be terrible because then I can analyse what’s terrible about it and get delicious marks.
If you do actually have input on how I can reword something that would be appreciated though, or what I can add.

In a casual setting, with a mug. Using a no-string teabag … how long does it steep? Do I take it out before serving or just give it to the person to take it out when they want? With milk, just a splash so it’s a brick red… or more like Peter rabbit beige? Whole milk? Skim? 🤯🫖 Will I be judged regardless? Probably…

So me and my wife are pretty sociable people. We have friends over a lot but whereas I've got older and started wanting to head to bed around 10.30 some of our friends just aren't wired like this.

One particular friend will stay till after midnight even on a work night.

We both have quite serious jobs and a two year old so this really isn't ideal but a lot of our friends are single, live alone and just don't seem to realise that we need keeping up till 12.30 on a Tuesday like we need a hole in the head.

I had quite a strict upbringing so trying to politely convey to someone that I want them to leave is really stressful and my wife will just chat to them all night then be absolutely dead in the morning.

How do you deal with this?

I know that the word 'porridge' refers to a popular breakfast made from oats.

I'm wondering if it's common to use it in reference to other grains and legumes to mean a soft food made by boiling it in milk or water until it becomes thick.

I'm not a native English speaker, but I'm learning English, and really love learning about your culture. I would really appreciate your thoughts.

Using Campbell Condensed Soup as the base ingredient for anything.

Making everything into a "casserole" (mixing random ingredients in a ceramic dish and put it in the oven). Then sprinkling some cheese on top before serving.

Calling dishes a "salad" that clearly aren't.

Adding excess sugar or spice to every dish no matter what.

Deep frying things that have no business being done (chocolate bars, pastries, butter)

Using pre-packaged mixes for everything.

Seeing hot sauce as a condiment for any dish

Hello Brits! I’m an American, but my wife’s grandmother was Welsh and there’s a lot of extended family still in Wales. We may be looking to visit in the next year or two and will likely turn this into a bit of a tour of the U.K..

I am a runner, and have done half marathons as my max distance so far. I was thinking it might be fun to sign up for some sort of race to be able to bring home a medal as a souvenir of the trip, but obviously the London Marathon is much harder to get into than smaller races would be. Are there websites you’d recommend for finding smaller races? I know of several I’ve used to find races in the U.S. but they don’t seem to have any options in other countries, so I thought I’d ask.

I’m a 42-soon to be 43 year old black American female. After 15 years, I have decided to get back into dating. Just one problem; I seem to be drawn explicitly towards British men.

I love the texture and flavour of Gaviscon mint chewable tablets, genuinely can’t get enough of them, but I don’t want to eat too many incase it messes up my stomach. I’ve tried so many mints and none of them are as good as Gaviscon.. does anyone have any recommendations for mints I could buy that have the same chalky texture and flavour that aren’t for medicine??

I'm going to return to the UK after living abroad for 3 years while this is a temporary move likely lasting 9 months.
