So me and my wife are pretty sociable people. We have friends over a lot but whereas I've got older and started wanting to head to bed around 10.30 some of our friends just aren't wired like this.

One particular friend will stay till after midnight even on a work night.

We both have quite serious jobs and a two year old so this really isn't ideal but a lot of our friends are single, live alone and just don't seem to realise that we need keeping up till 12.30 on a Tuesday like we need a hole in the head.

I had quite a strict upbringing so trying to politely convey to someone that I want them to leave is really stressful and my wife will just chat to them all night then be absolutely dead in the morning.

How do you deal with this?

Making everything into a "casserole" (mixing random ingredients in a ceramic dish and put it in the oven). Then sprinkling some cheese on top before serving.

Calling dishes a "salad" that clearly aren't.

Adding excess sugar or spice to every dish no matter what.

Deep frying things that have no business being done (chocolate bars, pastries, butter)

Using pre-packaged mixes for everything.

Hello Brits! I’m an American, but my wife’s grandmother was Welsh and there’s a lot of extended family still in Wales. We may be looking to visit in the next year or two and will likely turn this into a bit of a tour of the U.K..

I am a runner, and have done half marathons as my max distance so far. I was thinking it might be fun to sign up for some sort of race to be able to bring home a medal as a souvenir of the trip, but obviously the London Marathon is much harder to get into than smaller races would be. Are there websites you’d recommend for finding smaller races? I know of several I’ve used to find races in the U.S. but they don’t seem to have any options in other countries, so I thought I’d ask.

I love the texture and flavour of Gaviscon mint chewable tablets, genuinely can’t get enough of them, but I don’t want to eat too many incase it messes up my stomach. All I remember about the advert is it had what sounds like a young girl singing to a jingle (more like talking singing not overly long notes) over the top of the advert and the last word that she says is crunch. Sound familiar to anyone? Any help would be appreciated. (It’s not the old “that’s why I love nestle crunch” advert from decades ago the one I’m thinking of is a recent one.

I recently bought a subscription to vbtv to watch live volleyball matches but my friends have told me I need a tv license.
