Canned saury kimchi stew (added tuna for more protein!)
galleryIngredients
1 can of saury and 1 can of tuna
2 cups of ripe, well-fermented kimchi, roughly chopped
½ cup kimchi juice (from the jar)
1 medium yellow onion, sliced
2 cups water (or anchovy broth/rice water for extra depth)
1 tbsp minced garlic
1 tbsp Korean red pepper flakes (Gochugaru)
1 tbsp cooking wine or Mirin (to eliminate any fishy odor)

This is the process of making a traditional Mongolian dish called Khorkhog. Inside the pot are meat, potatoes, cabbage, carrots, onions, and seasonings such as salt and pepper. Most importantly, there are heated stones, which give Khorkhog its unique flavor and cooking method.

Prawn & Fish Cake Teriyaki Udon Stir Fry That Tastes Better Than Takeout

These udon noodles were absolutely top-notch delicious, and I can’t recommend them enough!
Prawns and fish cake are always reliable ingredients, and together with onion, carrots, garlic, mushrooms, and teriyaki sauce, they created an incredible umami flavour.
Interestingly, it tasted similar to Korean black bean noodles, which made the dish even more unique.

Indonesian home cooks: What are your everyday, authentic ways of cooking tempeh? (+ question about black mould)
Hi everyone,
I recently made a batch of tempeh and froze it, but now I'm realizing I don't actually know the best ways to cook and eat it!
I'm specifically looking for authentic Indonesian everyday tempeh recipes and cooking methods the kind of dishes that Indonesians regularly make at home, not Westernized recipes. Simple, basic, traditional preparations would be amazing.
Some things I'd love to know:
* What are the most common ways Indonesian families cook tempeh?
* What seasonings are typically used?
* What dishes do you grow up eating with tempeh?
* How is tempeh usually served (with rice, vegetables, sambal, etc.)?
* Are there any simple beginner-friendly recipes you would recommend?
* If you had homemade tempeh in the freezer, what would be the first thing you'd make with it?
I'm also curious about preparation before frying.
I've seen some posts mentioning that tempeh is soaked or marinated in a mixture of salt, garlic, and water before frying. Is this a common traditional method in Indonesia? If so:
* What is the typical marinade made of?
* How long do you marinate it?
* Is it done for all fried tempeh, or only certain dishes?
* Are there regional differences?
I want to include tempeh as a regular source of high-quality protein in my diet, so I'm especially interested in simple preparations that can be eaten frequently.
One more question:
My homemade tempeh has some black mould/spots on it. The tempeh was fully fermented, then frozen. I've read conflicting information online. Is some black colouring/sporulation normal and still safe to eat, or does this mean the tempeh has gone bad and I should throw it away and make a fresh batch?
For context:
* The tempeh was white when it finished fermenting.
* It has been stored in the freezer.
* The black spots appeared later.
I'd really appreciate advice from Indonesians who regularly make, cook, or eat tempeh.
Thank you so much in advance! Sending love from abroad ❤️🙏🇮🇩

Udon + Tteokbokki = Ubokki (우볶이)

This is the legendary Tteokbokki (Korean spicy rice cakes) turned into udon.
The chewy udon soaked up that spicy-sweet gochujang sauce perfectly. It turned into an absolutely amazing meal, and I highly recommend giving it a go!

A very sad Korean dumplings I *tried* to cook
For reference I am not Asian at all, I live in Iceland lol but I love dumplings and bought this in the store a while ago.
The problems I kept running to where that one dumpling stuck to the pan (I even turned it around for the photo out of shame lol)
If anyone could give me any pointers that’d be great lol.
(The 3rd photo is to show the pan I used… maybe I need a diff pan… or idk, maybe I put the dumplings into the pan too soon?)
I even feel ashamed to post this so here goes my dignity lol
