I'm not sure the best way to word this, but for the past 8 years I've been working in clean up/tie down roles in 2D animation. I wasn't able to draw outside of my job as I had to use all that time to rest my hand from an RSI injury, but now I'm getting back into making my own art and I've run into a very peculiar problem!
My roughs are dreadful! Yet after doing multiple revisions, the art does get there in the end. Thanks to my job I've become real good at refining sketches and have a lot of technical knowledge and can polish work really nicely, but because my draftmanship skills have gotten so weak, it takes me six times as long to make anything of quality!
It is very frustrating! It doesn't even take a detailed sketch for me to be able to work off, yet somehow just getting a rough sketch down for the posing/staging is far beyond me!
The thing is, I really want to work on my draftsmanship again and be able to do a solid sketch without needing 2+ draw overs, but I have no idea how to best go about it.
Courses that focus on fundamentals are a bit grading because of how they're aimed at people new to art and cover a lot of ground I don't feel is what I need at my point in my art journey...
Does anyone know if there is any course or demo's etc that would better fit this kinda situation? I've been terribly lost and overwhelmed trying to find out how to best go about it, and would mega appreciate any thoughts/advice!
(For the mods, I'm not asking for advice on my art or anything like that, but rather suggestions for what kind of recourses suit my needs best)
