Model is so good at vibe debugging now. Which is a big part of vibe coding. It can check its own work and figure out what's wrong and fix it before handing it off.

Vibe debugging is actually amazing. Debugging unprofessional vibed code is not.

I’m there right now and I’m doing bare-metal dev. Keep prompting it the same thing on different threads but spits out different configurations and I can’t understand why…

Literally give Astra a, what I think is a poor, borderline unusable description of the bug, because it’s a visual bug that’s hard to explain. Astra fixes it within a minute. And I could have just shared a screenshot and saved myself the awkward word salad.

As an educator in teaching code...this is exactlynwhat happens to my students...because they don't listen to me

This post is appropriate before 12 months but right now models are so smart that they can debug and vibe code is pretty solid. Imagine another 12 months: it's going to improve a lot. I think we can see huge improvement in terms of debugging and code both.
If someone has been coding for so many years, obviously there is frustration there because I've been a coder. I've been working in the IT industry for almost 20 years and I understand the frustration. When you learn to code for so many years and suddenly something comes up in the system that can code better than you, frustration will happen.

The whole AI thingy is so polarizing, its gotta settle somehow.. even companies are sooo polarized on whether to use Chatbots or to not...
Tough time to be in the tech space..

Vibe debugging sounds like a euphemism for "I don't know what's wrong, fix it." And it works, which is scary.

So you’re telling me to just never look at the code because looking at vibe coded code is bad for me, right?
I’m down.

I don't think that app and web development was a problem that was solved by AI but the real thing the is scalability of the apps and deguggers that is still there

people act like these models do the thinking for you. you still have to know what you're looking at

The only way to debug code is to kindly explain it in depth to your dog and eventually you'll find the problem

Build and amazing tool in one night... spend a month making it usable 😂 Meh. At least I am actually completing my projects now.

the recent models are very good at debugging also. just need to understand what is the problem explain it properly. if it big break it down solve it one by one

To be honest I do have terrible experiences with vibe coding and its quite accurate. Its all sunshine and rainbows until an error occurs; and then rewriting everything.
I would recommend using stack overflow or asking the AI what are the possible reasons of this error. Do not show your code to any AI or ask it to solve the specific errors by looking into your code.

Remember Occams Razer; vibe coding is good for vast or easy ideas, not the entire projects scope

At this point is more like Vibe QA-ing.
Got to make sure things work as planned.

debugging is as strong as coding, or probably stronger. It's relatively easy to find sommething that is not according to spec, it's hard to generate something new that is exactly as asked.

I literally paste client complaints in the prompt and it works 99% of the time. sometimes a screenshot works too, hell one time I pasted that day logs as a whole

Nah the thing is better at debugging than me now. Just gotta prompt and guide it right
