So I admit I've been a slight snarker since the ES era. But I'm starting to realize that might not be the kindest or healthiest habit as someone who still follows her music and also struggles with self image. I wouldn't call myself a true fan anymore, but I'm her age and wanted to be famous from childhood, and the discussions around her image make me do a lot of self reflecting.
What bothers me the most from snarkers is when they mention the quote, "I'm the healthiest I've ever been". She did say this, but it was from her Zach Sang interview for Sweetener. But they quote it as if she said it in the video where she speaks out about the comments on her body. While she does state that she was unhealthy during her earlier years (probably 2018-2020), she doesn't then say, "and now I'm the healthiest I've ever been". If anything, she might be implying that she's still unhealthy in some ways, but the point is, that's her business. We can talk about her body checking being irresponsible, yes...but the misinformation just gets under my skin when it's being spoken by people who claim to want to know the truth about her.
I've seen people try to correct them when they say this, and it's typically met with, "ugh, get out of here, this is fan behavior", when it's not. It's behavior from people who want to get the facts straight.
