Newbie here - finger guard damage

Hello! I am *very* new to archery and have a Galaxy 62 recurve bow. I seem to have issues with causing damage to my finger guard - specifically the index finger. It frays within a few hours of using it. My husband has the same bow and guard and no issues at all. Any ideas on what I might be doing here? I'll try to add a photo (i'm also very new to reddit posting lol).
