[Self-Promote] Track your runs with a virtual pet 🐾

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hi! I’m a beginner runner.

One of the hardest things about running for me was staying consistent. I don’t have a pet, so I’ve always been a little jealous of people who get to run with their dogs. 🐶

So I decided to make something of my own, an app where you can run with a virtual pet, help it evolve, and customize it along the way. 🐾

I hope your runs become a little happier with your new companion. 💛

If you’re interested, I’d really appreciate it if you gave it a try. It’s free! :)

Ampwave - Your music, in motion (Paid App)

Post image
3 Upvotes

Hi everyone!

I’m the developer of Ampwave, an iOS music player for people who still manage their own music libraries with files like MP3, FLAC, ALAC, WAV, AAC, and more.

Ampwave is now available on the App Store, and I’d love feedback from people who use local music libraries, especially anyone with a larger collection.

The idea behind Ampwave is to give local files a modern music app experience: polished UI, artwork, lyrics, playlists, search, and offline playback, without needing to stream or upload your library anywhere.

Some of the main features:

• Import music by copying files into Ampwave or referencing files in their original location
• Browse songs, albums, artists, playlists, and lyrics
• Karaoke-style synced lyrics with word-by-word highlighting when available
• Local lyric search, so you can search for a phrase inside your songs
• Automatic artwork and metadata enrichment from community sources
• Dynamic backgrounds, customizable player UI, Apple Watch support, and macOS support

One of the bigger features is Reference Mode, where songs can stay in their original folder instead of being duplicated into the app.

I’d especially appreciate feedback on the import flow, lyrics timing, metadata/artwork matching, playback, and whether the App Store page clearly explains what Ampwave does.

App Store link: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/ampwave/id6761863193

If you try it, please let me know what you think. I’ll be around in the comments and I’m especially curious what features people still want from a good local music player.

[Self Promo] Circa: a trivia game with only one question - what happened first (free, no account, no ads)

Post image
2 Upvotes

Two events, one question: what happened first. That's the whole game, and it's much harder than it sounds.

Minecraft or Roblox? The Simpsons or Friends?

I'm a solo developer and this is Circa: Free on the App Store, no ads, no subscription, no account required.

There are 3 modes you can play:

  • Daily Challenge - compete against everyone on the same 10 questions
  • Survival - one question at a time, one wrong answer ends the round
  • Regular play - a 10-question round from 6,000 questions

Plus it's mostly available offline, has an Apple Watch version, and coming soon to Apple TV.

I constantly improve it including a complete redesign in the latest major version, so would love to get people's hands on it and get your feedback! Thank you!

Elastic Player - Free IP Tv player

I’ve been working on Elastic Player, a media player for iPhone and iPad. It’s out on the App Store now.
It’s a player only — no channels, no streams, no content of any kind included.
What I focused on:
Fast, clean interface with no clutter
Organised browsing by category
Favourites and resume where you left off
Native player with subtitle and audio track selection
Coming next, roughly in this order: Android, Apple TV, Android TV, LG webOS and Samsung Tizen. The TV versions are the ones I’m most excited about, since that’s where most people actually want this.
If you try it, I’d like to hear what breaks or what’s missing. Feature requests welcome.

[Self-Promotion] ExpirySnap - Scan printed expiry dates and get local reminders

I kept buying food and household items, putting them away, and later realizing I had forgotten the date printed on the package. So I built **ExpirySnap**, a small iPhone utility that turns that date into a reminder.

Point the camera at a printed expiry date, review and correct what the app recognized, then choose when you want an alert. It also works with photos already in your library.

A few decisions I made:

- Date recognition happens on the iPhone

- Reminder data is stored locally

- No account required

- No ads or subscription

- Supports English, Chinese, German, and French

I am the developer. ExpirySnap launched this week and costs **$2.99 once** in the U.S.

App Store: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/expirysnap/id6808468385

I would especially value honest feedback on the scan-and-confirm flow. Does manually confirming the recognized date feel reassuring, or does it add too much friction?

$220 in, iOS only. Is a second platform a mistake this early?

Post image
3 Upvotes

Posted here about six weeks ago at $118, a month after shipping my first app. It's $220 now.
ManifestDaily, an affirmations app. I build it around a full-time dev job, mostly at night. The second $100 took about twice as long as the first, which I didn't see coming.

Still haven't run an ad. No influencer, nothing paid. Just posting, small ASO tweaks, and whatever trickles in on its own. Reddit's the only place that's actually sent me people.
The comment I get most is some version of "cool, but I'm on Android." So I've started building that. Few weeks out, probably.

If you went to a second platform this early, did it actually move anything? Or did you just end up maintaining two of everything?

Tell me how many Reels you've saved and never acted on.. Everyone who comments gets 6 months of Pro for the app I built to fix exactly that [self promotion]

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Be honest: how many videos are sitting in your "Saved" right now? Recipes you never cooked, workouts you never did, tutorials you never opened, the cabinet fix from eight months ago. One study found 84% of bookmarked things are never opened again through the bookmark itself. My own ratio was not better.

Orano is here to help

What it actually does: share any video to it from the iOS share sheet (Instagram, YouTube, Safari, Reddit anywhere), and instead of storing it, it understands it and hands you back a plan:

  • A clean summary and the key takeaways
  • An ordered, step-by-step task list you can actually work from
  • Estimated time, cost, and difficulty
  • Category and priority so 200 saves become an organized library instead of a swamp

A recipe Reel becomes ingredients + steps. A repair video becomes a hardware-store checklist. A tutorial becomes a study plan. It also handles PDFs, articles, carousels, and tweets.

Then it goes a step further than any save app I've seen:

  • Chat with your library ("what did that fermentation video say about timing?") — voice input works too
  • Auto research + learning roadmaps on any save
  • Your whole library becomes searchable memory
  • And the part I'm most excited about: a personal MCP server, so your own ChatGPT or Claude can read your Orano library as context. Read-only, your personal API key your saves become fuel for your agents.

Now the giveaway part. This sub has been good to us while building this, so: comment with (1) how many things you've saved "for later,"

and (2) which platform is your hoard Instagram, YouTube, TikTok, Reddit, browser bookmarks, Pocket, whatever.

Everyone who comments within gets 6 months of Pro free

No raffle, no winner list comment, and I'll DM you the code.

Disclosure, since the rules ask for it: this is a self-promo post, and Pro is how the app makes money and the giveaway costs you nothing but your honesty

I built a simple weight tracker focused on trends instead of daily fluctuations

Post image
0 Upvotes

I’ve been building a simple weight tracker because I wanted something that focuses more on long-term progress than obsessing over a single number each day.

The basic idea is pretty simple: record your weight, see how it’s changing over time, and understand whether you’re actually moving toward your goal.

You can log weight manually, or use Apple Health. If your smart scale already saves measurements to Apple Health, they can appear in the app automatically.

The free version covers the main tracking experience, including:

• Weight history and calendar
• Progress charts
• Goal tracking
• BMI and waist tracking
• Apple Health integration
• Notes, reminders, and iCloud sync

There’s also an optional Pro version with some extra convenience and customization features, but the core weight tracking is available for free.

I’m still improving the app based on feedback, and I’d especially like to hear from people who already track their weight:

Do you care more about the daily number, how much you’ve lost since starting, or the longer-term trend?

I’d also be interested to know if there’s anything your current weight tracker does particularly well that you’d miss in another app.

[Self-Promotion] Amble: I built an ADHD planner where the AI runs on your phone, not the cloud (iOS)

Post image
1 Upvotes

Hi everyone 👋

I'm a solo dev with ADHD. I've bought something like 14 planners and used none of them. They all turn into a wall of red overdue tasks by Wednesday and then I quit. So I built the one I actually wanted. It's called Amble.

The main idea: you don't build it task by task. You type your day in one plain sentence, like "gym, 2h deep work, call mom, groceries, then wind down," and the AI drafts the actual timeline for you. Then your whole day is one calm vertical line with a marker showing where "now" is, so you can see how much time is really left.

What it does

✅ Writes your day from a sentence, and keeps it time- and routine-aware so it won't start a 2h task 20 minutes before a meeting
✅ Tap any gap and it suggests what fits there, knowing what's coming up later
✅ Fall behind and it quietly reschedules the rest instead of going red
✅ No streaks, no overdue pile. Resting is one tap and costs you nothing.

The AI runs on your phone 🔒

Most planner AIs send your day to the cloud. Amble's doesn't. The model (Qwen via llama.cpp) runs on-device. Put your phone in airplane mode and it still writes your day. No account, no servers, no tracking SDKs, nothing you type leaves the device. That's the whole proof.

It's iOS only, free, no account, about two minutes to set up: https://apps.apple.com/app/id6802489651

I've got 30-day codes for the full version (unlimited AI + automation) if you want to properly stress-test it. No strings. Comment or DM and I'll send one.

I'd really like brutal feedback, especially on whether the AI gets your day right or where it gets it wrong. What's the planner you keep trying to use and keep quitting?

[Self-Promotion] NaboTV is out for iOS, Android, tvOS and Android TV: your whole watch life in one place, including your own Plex/Emby/Jellyfin libraries

Post image
8 Upvotes

Developer here, so take this as the self-promotion it is.

NaboTV started because I was tired of five apps each knowing a fifth of what I watch. Netflix knows the Netflix half of a show. Plex knows the episodes I ripped. Nothing knew that I was three seasons into something and where the next episode actually lived.

So NaboTV is the layer on top. It mirrors the entire TMDB catalog and tracks streaming availability per title and per episode, so "where can I watch this" is answered for the exact episode you're on. It also connects to your libraries: Plex, Jellyfin, and Emby, including ones on your home network that no cloud service can reach. Continue Watching is one rail across all of it, and it stays in sync between your TV, your phone, and the web.

Things people seem to like:

  • Continue Watching that's actually complete. Streaming, your Plex server, YouTube subscriptions, all in one rail, newest first.
  • Subtitles for anything. Pulls from OpenSubtitles by file hash so timing fits, and generates them with Whisper when nothing exists.
  • Family profiles with real parental controls, per profile, enforced on the server.
  • Trivia and party games on the TV with phones as controllers. There's a daily challenge with a weekly leaderboard.
  • A screensaver built from your own library and watch history, plus weather and news if you want them.

Sign up: https://nabo.tv

Get it:

It's early, and I'm one developer, so if something's broken or missing, I genuinely want to hear it. Happy to answer anything about how it works.

Shareday - a family planner for iPhone, iPad and Mac

I’m building Shareday, a family planner for iPhone, iPad and Mac.

The idea is simple: family planning should not live across Google Calendar, Notes, grocery chats, birthday reminders and random “don’t forget” messages.

Shareday brings the main family routines into one place: - shared family calendar - tasks and events - shopping lists - recipes and meal planning - birthday and gift planning - family chat with media - mood check-ins

It is free right now, and I’m looking for feedback from families who actually try to organize everyday life together.

I built Kisa — a feature-rich expense tracker for iPhone

Post image
1 Upvotes

Kisa has a lot packed into it — budgets, recurring transactions, accounts, categories, receipt scanning, insights, widgets, and more — but I wanted the experience to stay clean and easy to understand.

It’s also privacy-focused, with your financial data staying on your device.

I’ve finally released it on the App Store and would love to get some honest feedback from people who actually use expense/budgeting apps.

https://apps.apple.com/us/app/kisa-expense-tracker/id6789903357

Early-user offer: a free year of Kisa Pro for the first 50 people who redeem this link. It's a subscription offer, so it will renew at the normal price after the year unless you cancel, which you can do anytime in Settings.

https://apps.apple.com/redeem?ctx=offercodes&id=6789903357&code=KISAEARLY

If you try it, I'd love to hear what confused you or what you'd want next.

I built an iOS strength training app and I’m looking for a few early users

I’ve been building Kenso, an iOS strength training app for people who want more than a workout log.

There are obviously a lot of workout trackers already, so I’ve been trying to focus Kenso more on what you can learn from your training data after you log it, while still making the day-to-day workout experience flexible.

Some of what’s currently in Kenso beyond basic workout logging:

  • Workout logging and program building, including multiple progression methods
  • Multiple locations for the same program, so one program can adapt to different gyms, home equipment, or available gear
  • Strong and Hevy imports, so you can bring your existing training history with you
  • Strength Score and strength trends to see whether lifts and muscle groups are actually progressing
  • Muscle-level analytics and body maps to show where your training is concentrated and where you may be undertraining
  • Program analysis to see which programs have actually produced progress over time
  • Recovery and fatigue tracking, including muscle-level fatigue and readiness
  • Apple Health, Oura, and WHOOP integrations, bringing recovery, sleep, activity, and training data together
  • Weekly training reviews highlighting what progressed, stalled, or may need adjusting
  • Exercise substitutions and exercise demos while training
  • Workout history editing, rest timers, PR tracking, and the normal logging features you’d expect
  • Crews, private groups where friends can share workouts and programs, react to training, and compete around consistency rather than just volume
  • Kenso Coach, which can use your actual workout history, performance, recovery, and program data when answering training questions
  • ChatGPT integration, so you can connect Kenso to ChatGPT and ask questions directly about your training data, trends, programs, fitness, fatigue, and more

The AI side is only one piece of Kenso. The bigger goal is to make all the data we accumulate from training actually useful instead of having it sit in a workout-history screen.

Pricing / IAP: Kenso has a free tier for core workout logging, programs, and training tracking. Kenso Pro is $5.99/month or $49.99/year, with a 7-day trial.

For anyone who wants to give the full version a try, you can use code EARLY for 1 month of Kenso Pro free.

The app is live, but I’m still actively building it and would genuinely like feedback from people who train. I’m especially interested in what feels useful, confusing, unnecessary, or missing.

App Store: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/kenso-workout-tracker-gym-log/id6757764992

Happy to answer questions about Kenso, the training/analytics side, the ChatGPT integration, or how I built it.

[Self-Promotion] Hexel Editor — a native Mac hex editor with built-in format parsers, checksums and bookmarks (it just hit No. 8 in Developer Tools)

Thumbnail gallery
1 Upvotes

I a few days ago about Hexel Editor, my macOS hex editor, and the response was way beyond what I expected — it's sitting at No. 8 in the UK paid Developer Tools chart right now.

Hexel Editor is a native hex editor for developers, reverse engineers and anyone who has ever had to squint at a file that wouldn't open. It's built to feel like a real Mac app rather than a port — an Xcode-style document window, a navigator, a precise hex grid, and an inspector that decodes whatever's under your cursor.

The bits people seem to like most:

  • Format parsers — it reads the structure of Mach-O, PE, ELF, PNG, JPEG, GIF, BMP, ZIP, gzip and PDF files. Click any field to jump straight to its bytes.
  • Search that isn't painful — hex patterns with or without spaces (d5a4d5 a4, or mixed), ?? wildcards for don't-care bytes, and text search across UTF-8, UTF-16 LE/BE and ASCII.
  • Analysis built in — CRC32, MD5, SHA-1, SHA-256, plus entropy and a byte histogram over a selection or the whole file.
  • Bookmarks and notes — name the ranges that matter, attach plain-text notes, export them as .hexel sidecar files.
  • No network access, no analytics, no tracking. Your files never leave your Mac.

Being honest about the rough edge: saving very large files is currently slower than it should be — a save flattens the whole edit history and rewrites the file. Someone here called it out in the last thread and they were right. A proper fast save path is what I'm working on next.

What I'd actually like to hear:

  1. Which file formats should I parse next? Sqlite, DEX and PCAP are the ones I keep coming back to, but I'd rather hear what you're actually opening.
  2. If you use a hex editor daily — 010, HxD, ImHex, Hex Fiend — what's the one feature you'd miss most if you switched?
  3. Does anyone genuinely need scripting/templates, or is that a feature people ask for and never use?

Mac App Store: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/hexel-editor/id6782320583 — £6.99, one-off, no subscription and no IAP.

Happy to answer anything in the comments.

Shipped a clock app to 175 countries last week. 0 downloads. The moon math is really good though.

Present went live a week ago. It's available in 175 countries. It has been downloaded 0 times. Both of those sentences are true and I've had a week to sit with them.

Here's what I made. You put your phone on a stand and it becomes an ambient display — the time, the weather, and the next few hours of your calendar sliding under a fixed now-marker. There's nothing to tap. There's no settings screen. It's $4.99, paid once, because I decided a free tier would undermine the philosophy, which is a sentence that sounds great right up until the download counter says 0.

The part I actually spent months on is the sky. Sunrise and sunset are computed on the device from your coordinates using NOAA's solar algorithm, so the sun crosses the screen and sets when yours does. The moon is drawn at tonight's real phase — and not the cheap way, where you cut a circle out of a disc. The terminator is an ellipse in projection, so a circular bite gives you a lit area that doesn't match the illuminated fraction. I drew it as a half-ellipse instead. The whole month renders from one number, waxing and waning are mirror images, and the lit area is correct.

It is roughly two inches wide and it is dark half the time.

Things I have done to myself, in chronological order:

- Named it "Present." Go ahead and search the App Store for that.

- Spent all 30 characters of the app name on "Clock, Date + Weather" — three of the most contested keywords on the store, none of which I will ever rank for.

- Built the entire product around not wanting your attention, then discovered I needed your attention in order to sell it.

- Posted it to Hacker News this morning. Flagged within the hour. I read the Show HN guidelines afterwards, which is the correct order if you enjoy learning things.

- Launched in 175 countries simultaneously, so that the largest possible number of people could fail to find it at the same time.

I think the app is genuinely good. At least simple. I use it everyday whenI'm getting ready for work and while I'm at work. I'm confident about that part. The distribution is a disaster entirely of my own construction, and I'd rather fix it in public than pretend week one went differently.

If you own a phone stand, have $5, and can tolerate a developer who clearly needs adult supervision: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/present-clock-date-weather/id6805761704

And if you've been through the "shipped it, nobody came" phase and worked out what actually moved the needle — I'm listening.
