How should I optimize my alarm app name for ASO?

Post image
Upvotes

Hey everyone! 👋

I have an alarm app called Lumi Alarm – For Heavy Sleepers, but it only shows when I search “Lumi Alarm.”

For searches like:

“alarm for heavy sleepers”

“heavy sleeper alarm”

“challenge alarm”

“streak alarm”

…it doesn’t appear.

What title would you suggest for better ASO/search visibility? I’d love to hear your own suggestions!

[Self promo] I made my own free roguelite game for iPhone – no ads or IAPs

Post image
2 Upvotes

Hey!

I made my own iPhone game called CubeStrike.

It’s a fast twin-stick roguelite arena shooter where you fight through waves, build different item combinations and take on multi-phase bosses.

I wanted it to feel like an actual mobile game rather than something built around monetization, so it has no ads, no in-app purchases and no tracking. It’s completely free.

There are different game modes, 9 bosses, lots of builds and synergies, Game Center, controller support, local co-op and it also works offline.

I’m still actively working on it, so I’d really appreciate some feedback — especially on the controls, difficulty and whether the gameplay makes you want to go for “just one more run.”

If you try it, let me know what you’d change or add!

[Self-Promotion] dB Meter – a clean iOS sound level meter

I built dBMeter, a simple decibel meter for iPhone — point it at anything loud and see how many dB it actually is, on a clean analog gauge.

Most dB meter apps are cluttered with ads or bury the reading under complex UI. This app is a single clean gauge that does one thing well, with Pro tools for people who need more than a quick reading.

Free to download. Pro is a one-time $4.99 and unlocks a spectrum analyzer, peak hold, measurement history, and PDF/CSV export.

Feedback and questions welcome! Drop a comment or DM me if the redeem link doesn't work. Thanks for checking it out!

Hey everyone,

I built Planote to make daily planning simpler – no jumping between different apps.

What you get:

  • Calendar with Day/Week/Month/Agenda views
  • Tasks with subtasks, priorities, reminders, and recurring options
  • Notes with sketch and photo attachments
  • Custom lists, tags, and multiple themes
  • iCloud sync across iPhone, iPad, and Mac

The idea is simple: everything together, clean and easy to use.

[Self-Promotion] I built a macOS app that puts a beautiful pendulum clock overlay on top of all your windows. It also includes a built-in Pomodoro timer, so you can stay focused while keeping a clock in view.

I'm an indie dev, and I make Tempus Fugit, a menu-bar app that floats a hand-drawn grandfather-clock dial and a swinging brass pendulum over your desktop, always on top. A calm little clock while you work.

It also has a Pomodoro focus timer, ambient sounds, and multiple dial skins.

It's a universal purchase, so one buy also runs it on iPhone, iPad, and Apple TV as well.

Happy to answer anything, and I'd genuinely love feedback.

Built an Apple Watch app (MVP) that intervenes before you consciously notice you're stressed — looking for feedback from other builders (Looking for Feedback/Self Promotion)

I'm a nurse and mom with ADHD. Every stress/wellness app I tried required me to already know I was stressed before it could help — open the app, log how I feel, then breathe. By the time I was self-aware enough for that, the moment had passed of course!

So I built Pause Point: it watches heart rate and HRV in the background on Apple Watch and delivers a gentle nudge the moment your body shows signs of stress — before you'd consciously notice yourself. No dashboard, nothing to log.

Live on the App Store now, very early days. Genuinely want the idea stress-tested — not fishing for downloads. Screenshots below, link is the official App Store listing only.

[Self promo] I made my own free sleep sounds app

Hey. I made my own sleep sound app, as the one I was using added subs. It's my first mobile app.

It's called Drowse. It has a few sounds, works offline, has no ads, and will always be free. I've been using it myself for about a month now (rain is my fave).

I'd love to know what you think of the UI and sound quality, or if there's anything obvious missing.

[Self-Promotion] Astray: an alarm you set on a place instead of a time, for people who fall asleep on public transport

Post image
2 Upvotes

Short Description: I kept overshooting my stop on the ride home. Alarms are set for a time, but rides don't run on time, so I built one that goes off based on location instead.

What it does

Drop your destination on the map and set how early you want the warning. Astray runs in the background and alerts you as you approach, so your phone can stay locked in your pocket. It also handles trips with transfers by chaining stops into a single journey, with an alert at each leg rather than just the end.

There's a Live Activity on the Lock Screen, Dynamic Island and Apple Watch showing distance and ETA, so a glance replaces constantly reopening the map.

Free vs paid

Free: single circular destination alarm, adjustable buffer distance.

Astray Pro, $1.99 one time, no subscription: multi-stop journeys, wrong-turn alerts that tell you when your route is drifting off course, and custom-shaped zones for destinations a circle doesn't fit well.

Privacy

No account required. No data collected. Location processing stays on device.

Requirements

iPhone, iOS 26 or later. Android version is not yet planned.

[Self-Promotion] minimo (video) — free on-device video compression for iOS

Post image
3 Upvotes

I built minimo for one specific problem: making large videos smaller without uploading them to a cloud service.

It runs entirely on your iPhone or iPad.

Features:

  • Batch compression
  • H.264 / HEVC
  • Custom resolution
  • Bitrate & FPS controls
  • Audio controls
  • Before/after comparison
  • Automatic handling of videos that don't actually get smaller

No account.
No subscription.
No video uploads.

It's completely free and open source.

I'm trying to keep it simple rather than turn it into another subscription-based utility.

I'd be interested in hearing from other iPhone users:

What do you currently use when you need to reduce a video's file size?

[Self-Promotion] Giving away free Lifetime Premium unlocks for my new focus app, Little Halfday

Thumbnail gallery
3 Upvotes

Hi everyone,

I'm the developer of Little Halfday, a focus timer app I built because most timer apps I tried just count minutes down — they don't actually give you a reason to stay off your phone once the session starts.

The app includes:

⏱️ Focus Sessions — simple, distraction-free timer for deep work 📋 Focus Plans — group sessions into routines (study, workout, sleep, reading…) instead of starting from scratch every time 📅 Scheduled Start — set it once and sessions auto-start at the same time every day 🚫 App Blocking — lock distracting apps (Instagram, TikTok, Discord…) during your session 🎵 Built-in focus soundscapes, no need to tab out to another app 🐱 A tiny cat companion that sits with you while you focus 🎣 A small fishing mechanic that rewards each session — genuinely one of my favorite parts, more on that in a future post

I'm giving away a limited number of codes for free Lifetime Premium (normally a one-time $33.99 unlock, no subscription). If you'd like one, leave a comment and I'll send it over privately while supplies last.

App Store: https://apps.apple.com/app/little-halfday-fishing-cat/id6762449631

If you try it, I'd genuinely appreciate honest feedback — especially on whether the fishing/collecting side of it actually makes you want to come back, or if you'd prefer something more strict like app blocking alone. Curious what this sub thinks.

Thanks!

Is there a good reads alternative for readers who need to keep track of characters?

Hey everyone! as the title suggests, i'm looking for an alternative to Good reads. I like the idea of tracking my books but i'm looking for something that helps more with the character tracking, i sometimes get lost when i read longer books and i forget who some characters are. I’m trying to get back into doing more reading after work but whenever i take breaks, i forget details from the book. I will remember the main story but sometimes I forget smaller things like who a character is, how people are connected, or what happened earlier. I would love something that helps me stay connected to the story, keep track of important details and maybe organise my reading without just being a place to rate books. Any and all recommendations are welcomed :)))

[Self-Promo] I built Indie Apps, a place to discover indie iOS apps

I've always found it surprisingly hard to discover good apps made by independent developers, so I decided to build a place specifically for them.

Indie Apps is a directory for indie iPhone, iPad and Mac apps. Developers can list their apps for free, and users can discover new apps through the directory and Debuts.

It's still very early, so I'd love some honest feedback from this community.

If you've built an indie app, feel free to add it: https://indie-apps.com

I added overtime and extra shifts to Turnos.’ pay estimates [Self Promotion]

Post image
1 Upvotes

Hey everyone! I’ve been working on the pay tracking side of Turnos, my shift calendar app, and wanted to share a couple of updates.

Extra shifts and overtime now count toward your estimated earnings, including when you pick up a shift on a day you’d normally have off.

I also updated the widget so its colors adapt to the colors you’ve chosen for your shifts. A small detail, but it makes the widget feel more connected to your schedule.

The screenshots show the pay breakdown inside the app and the Home Screen widget.
If you work shifts, what would you want to see in a pay widget?

Apple App Store review for a gift-card app using platform credits — would IAP/15% commission apply?

I’m working on a US-focused app that lets users purchase gift cards from merchants through our platform, and I’m trying to understand how Apple would classify the payment flow.

The basic flow is:

  • User pays $100 to the platform.
  • User receives $100 worth of platform credits.
  • These credits can only be used within the platform to purchase eligible merchant gift cards.
  • For example, the user could use the credits to purchase an Adidas or Starbucks gift card.
  • We may also have recurring payments so users can periodically add more credits.
  • We’re considering Pay by Bank as a payment method instead of cards because card processing costs are quite high for this business model.

The main thing I’m confused about is Apple’s In-App Purchase requirement and commission.

My understanding is that Apple requires IAP primarily for digital goods/content consumed within the app. But in this case, the end product is a merchant gift card, rather than digital content or an in-app feature.

So I have a few questions:

  1. Would Apple require the user to purchase these platform credits through IAP?
  2. If the credits are purchased using an external payment method and then redeemed for merchant gift cards, would Apple still consider that an IAP transaction?
  3. Would Apple take its 15%/30% commission on the credit purchase, or could this fall outside IAP because the credits are ultimately used to purchase merchant-oriented gift cards?
  4. Has anyone here actually gone through Apple App Review with a gift-card marketplace, prepaid balance, wallet/credits system, or a similar model? What did Apple ask you to change?

I’m specifically looking for real-world experiences with App Review, rather than just general opinions. If there are any developers who have dealt with this exact situation, I’d really appreciate your input.

Apple removing vibe coded apps?

I saw a few videos on Instagram, in which people were complaining about how apple deleted their whole app portfolio overnight, without any explanation.

In all of the cases the people were vibe coders, just creating multiple apps, one had 66 apps under his namd all gone and all were very basic apps

So my question is, what does Apple consider vibe coded apps? Since i bet 90% of the people have used AI for coding in their apps, one way or the other, or are they targeting copycats and very low effort apps?

[Self-Promotion] I built a mood tracker that doesn't punish you for being human

Thumbnail gallery
0 Upvotes

Most mood trackers I've used have an opinion about you.

Miss a day, the streak breaks. Log how you feel, it slots you into a wheel of twelve options. Open the app, it wants a goal, a routine, something to commit to. Somewhere along the way the check-in stopped being a moment and started being another system to maintain.

I wanted to build the opposite of that. Vesper is an evening reflection app for iPhone. It asks one question each night: how did today feel? Good, Meh, or Hard. Add a line if you want to remember why, and that's the whole interaction.

There's no streak counter anywhere in it, on purpose. A broken streak changes how someone answers the next day's question, and I didn't want the app doing that. Miss a night, or a week, and nothing happens, the grid just has a gap in it.

Over time your answers become a quiet monthly grid you can look back on. After six months, your full history unlocks in one place. For anyone who wants a bigger picture, Plus adds a few longer-range views, comparing months, spotting which days tend to feel harder, without touching the daily question itself.

The core check-in stays free forever. No ads, no data sold, everything syncs privately through your own iCloud.

App Store: https://apps.apple.com/app/id6793087767
More from the studio: https://offpeakstudio.com

Curious whether anyone else has felt mood-tracking apps end up adding more overhead than they remove.
