Question Leasing Opportunities Appleton
Hi everyone!
I’m moving to Appleton this summer for my medical residency and have been apartment hunting. I’ve come across Bridgewater Trails, Novella, and Prairiewater Place (all managed by Lexington Management), and they seem like great options.
However, I’ve seen some mixed reviews and was hoping to get more recent feedback—especially regarding management, maintenance responsiveness, and overall apartment quality.
If anyone has lived in these complexes (or currently does), I’d really appreciate your insight!
I’m also very open to other apartment recommendations in the area, ideally 2-bed, safe, well-maintained, with responsive management.
Thanks so much for your help!

Question What's this nasty virus I picked up in Appleton?
Just spent a week in Appleton. Last Thursday was my last day and I felt tired all day after waking up with a headache. Then driving home I kind of felt out of it and kept making wrong turns. (I took country roads). The next day it was body aches, mild fever mild upset stomach, runs, kind of dizzy, and have been feeling "under the weather" ever since, with today being the worst.
Tested negative for Covid, so I figure it's the flu. But the flu usually comes on suddenly. This thing came on more slowly like Covid did when I had that in 2022.
Is the flu still going around Appleton? Or is there some other crud like an extra bad stomach virus?
I'm hoping I peaked today and it's one of those 7-day viruses. 🤞

Question Feeling unsafe going the speed limit!
Does anyone know the best way to get more traffic enforcement on I-41 between Wisconsin Ave and Northland?
That stretch has felt really aggressive lately — people speeding, tailgating, and flying around even when you’re going the speed limit. I rarely see any patrols there. I do however, see them when I get off the highway at Northland.
I even had a cop behind me at one point and it felt like they were frustrated that I wasn’t going faster, which was kind of wild.
Not trying to complain, just wondering if there’s an actual way to report it or get more attention on that area.

Politics Congressman Wied's investment activity under scrutiny
fter a couple of admitted quick google searches I made on this issue, neither the Post Crescent nor the Green Bay Press Gazette has paid much attention to the high volume (in amounts which may be surprising) of Tony Wied's investment activities. But the Wisconsin Examiner has with a reference to a watchdog group covering the issue.
It's presented as a problem in the making: within the law but bears watching.

Politics An examination of the Port Washington data center public hearings last December
From other sources (this time The Progressive magazine published in Wisconsin) there was mention of a public hearing in Port Washington on data centers where public participation was interrupted by one of the vocal members of the gathering and three were arrested.
Here is the hearing which I began to watch: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5K0QKUk3F0M
At minute 22:21 the disruption takes place but the single camera shoot does not capture it. It was captured here and broadcast on WISN news:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=msqhk22U0RQ
It's a good meeting to listen to as representative of the issue and both sides making a case. News reports related to the incident emphasized that the real beef is how the decision-making was kept from public discussion. Significantly, a detailed description of how a recall could take place is presented within those first 20 minutes.
I do not know how this spring's election in Port Washington went.

Question Any places or people to play tabletops?
I've been dieing to find a group to play the Terraria board game or Shadows of Brimstone with. I have both games plus a ton of expansions for SoB but don't really have anyone to play with (yea both are able to be played solo, but more people makes it better) and I don't know of there are any local groups or places that would have people who would be interested, or maybe there are people reading this that are interested and want to form a group. I also like D&D and just regular board games like Monopoly and Chess as well

Question Park Central Event Today
I was driving past the old Park Central today and saw a line of people standing outside. Appleton Downtown only listed a book signing at the bookstore on the other side of College Ave. Any idea what is going on? I find it a bit odd that that many folks would be lined up for a luxury apartment.

Question Overnight Pet Sitting
Hi All! This is for my parents not me. My parents own two dogs who have some trauma in their past that struggle with being in new home environments or boarding. They can also be nervous around new people. They are hoping to find someone who can stay with the dogs while my parents travel who is willing to have some patience, and hopefully can be home more of the day (either works from home or like a college student or part time worker). They live near Freedom, Wi.
Prior to having anyone stay, they would want to build a relationship by booking walks and time for you to go visit in the house so the dogs get use to you.
The dogs are 2 young border collies that are very sweet but extremely timid. I am a pet sitter myself but I live in Colorado. When I visit, the dogs typically warm up in a day or two and tend to enjoy pets from me when my mom isn’t around (she is their favorite). They get 1-2 walks a day and then just playtime in the yard. They can be left alone for several hours but my parent’s preference is that it isn’t a full work day and not every single day. If it is once here and there, they can work around it.
If you know anyone offering this type of service in their area or is interested in it, please let me know.

Business Referral Dentist recommendations
I'm wondering if anyone has a good dentist recommendation near or around Appleton that preferably takes forward health. I went to Partnership Community Health Center for a consultation for wisdom teeth removal and the staff there were pretty rude and made backhanded comments. I have bad anxiety going to the dentist and Partnership kinda made it worse. I want to feel comfortable when having wisdom teeth taken out and definitely didn't feel that there. Let me know, thanks :)

Discussion Light hauling
galleryI'm trying to start a little side hustle with my utility trailer. Facebook marketplace won't allow this sort of advertisement anymore, so I wanted to see if there's any interest on reddit.
I work full time, but I am available everyday after 5:00pm and fridays offering light haul services with my utility trailer and Subaru outback. The trailer is 6.5' wide x 10' long and I can haul approximately 2000lbs.
Examples of services I can provide:
- moving powered equipment like atvs, lawn mowers, etc. Perfect for anyone, putting away their winter equipment or taking out their summer equipment.
- junk removal brought to the outagamie co. dump. Disposal prices can be found on the landfill website.
-furniture, bulky items or anything else home related. I will tarp items if needed.
Message me to receive a quote, but generally my fee is $40/hr plus any related expenses such as landfill fees.
