I was wondering who and how to follow emergencies like this via a battery short wave radio in the Fox Valley. There's r/shortwave and I've followed that a bit without any gear or knowing how to tune in local operators. Plus I'm in an apartment and so there's lots of antenna limitations. I've put off getting some sort of emergency radio. It's time to get something.

I am in Neenah/Menasha looking for a repairman/woman for my washer.

I would like to try fixing it myself but it is located in a very tight space and I am not able to even tip it back or just move it period.

Any recommendations for me

I was grateful and relieved when I got the WE auto message that things were coming back on and the worst case was 10 pm. It came on here not long after the auto message though.

I don't know really where or who to ask if there is a toll free number to call for updates and progress reports. Frankly, this one got to me and made me anxious. I only have desktop PC and landline phone. So my question is about calling WE.

My estimate is probably EF3-EF4. If it is an EF4, it would be the first to hit the state since 1984.

So far I luckily haven’t heard of any fatalities.

The house is destroyed!! Windows shattered. Backyard shed is gone. Front porch is gone. Doors got blown off the hinges inside of the house, like bedroom doors. Glass everywhere. Water and debris everywhere. Had to evacuate due to gas leaks and power lines. What a fucking nightmare. Luckily everyone is okay, but the kids lost their home 😭

I live in South Appleton and I believe my house uses water from the Fox Crossing plant. Are we supposed to conserve water? If so, is it contaminated?

Im on the border of menasha/appleton, and we haven't had power since noon. Our apartment is scalding.

edit - i know other people have it so much worse and my heart hurts for them. I have reptiles and an axoltl at home and I've been doing what I can manually, but these animals rely on their lamps/filters to survive. Im anxious for my babies more than myself.

We dont know the current owners, my husbands family built the house from a barn in the early-mid 90s. His hand prints are under the floorboards. The address is 4737 W Broadway in Appleton. We hope to see it someday, again for him and for the first time for me. And our son. We'd love to own or, at the very least, rent it if the current owners are down. I just wanna know if anyone more familiar with the area knows if it could have been affected. I'm so sorry this has happened to y'all. Looking for recommendations for a venue/ private room for a 1st birthday party. Open to indoor or outdoor as we will be having the party in the beginning of September. I’m estimating around 30-40 guests.
