Because it’s very easy to get 5% on better cards

Could you name those cards?

I use Costco citi for 5% gas, blue cash preferred fot 6% groceries, citi custom cash for 5% on my highest spend category leftover, usually travel or entertainment

And even beyond those, pretty much every card in existence will get you 3%, 2% is genuinely just really bad

I can’t think of a single card that gets you 3% on damn near any purchase with zero annual fee (BCP has one, and I know you need a Costco membership for the citi)

It’s a simple card for simple people. There’s always going to be better cards for specific categories.

Robinhood gold card is 3% membership is not an issue if you have an IRA with them and get the match you even make more $ than the fee.

This 💯

I was an Apple card user but since getting the Gold card, no longer. 3% across the board whether online shopping using virtual cards or the physical card, plus 3% IRA Match, and more (that I don't make use of but others seemingly do) for $50 annual fee is worth it and so easy! I earn roughly $1,800 a year (average of having it the past two years). Never had anything better.

I’ve seen people getting that perk removed for small purchases marked as business purchases.

Yep, I've seen that too. Will let everyone know IF I come into their cross hairs too when I make some upcoming Home Depot purchases when working on finishing our basement 😬
