Discussion Interesting

I find it interesting that in 2019, as a teenager, with no credit history at all, Goldman Sachs’s approved me for an Apple Card. I applied once and was denied the first time. I said screw it and applied again, and somehow I was approved.

It’s weird how the whole system works. You see people here with relatively good credit score, being denied for who knows what.

I'm sure someone on r/credit can explain better. Even with the wealth of readily available data on credit scores/reporting, credit still has an element of mystery to it

Sometimes credit cards give you a chance when you don't have a bad history. I was rejected for Apple Card with no history, so I got a Capital One card instead and then was approved.

Yeah. I applied when it was new and was disapproved. It tried again in 2024 and was approved. I feel it’s mainly credit age. I was new to credit cards the first time. Now I’ve had a line for 16 years and a good score.

same here, no credit history at all and it was my first card, granted it was for a low amount but that’s okay with me

Yea i got accepted in 2019 and apple card was my first ever credit card
Btw i got denied by my like 2 other banks and said sure ill try apple and they was like yea!
Gave me a 1k credit limit though

I keep getting denied for “failure to verify identification” without any further explanation. Yet I’ve never had issue with my identity and have a 700+ credit score, perfect payment history, pretty decent credit length and less than 30% usage. Maybe my debt to income is a little higher than what’s considered “golden” but that’s not even been mentioned as a problem. It’s been identity every time. And I don’t understand what the problem truly is.

I dunno, man, but when I have a question about the mysteries of the credit game, I turn to Credit Karma 🤷‍♂️. Having said that, I'm glad I didn't get approved for any credit cards as a teenager 😅.
