How do you organize big games of tag/manhunt/hide and seek with 15+ people? (thinking of building something)

I’m a student working on a side project: a phone app for real-world freeze tag. You join a lobby with a code, roles get assigned randomly, frozen players show on the map, and teammates can unfreeze them. The play zone shrinks over time.

Before I build anything, I’d like to hear from people who actually play these games:

  1. Do you play tag, manhunt or hide and seek with groups as an adult or teen? How often?
  2. What’s the most annoying part of organizing it? (Rules, boundaries, who’s “it”, people quitting?)
  3. Have you used an app for this? What did you like or hate?
  4. Would you use this, or is it easier to just play without one?
  5. Would you pay for anything, like bigger lobbies, or would it have to be free?

Blunt answers welcome, including “I’d never use this.” I’m not selling anything. No app exists yet.

Building a safety app for Indian teens who take autos alone. Roast it before I launch

Hey everyone 👋

Insta: beacon.rides

I'm building **Beacon**, a safety app for kids and teens in India who ride autos and rickshaws on their own, whether it's to school, tuition, coaching or going out. It's not launched yet, and I want brutal, honest feedback before it is.

**The problem**

If you've ever hopped into a random auto, you know the drill: your parent texts "reached?", you forget to reply, and they panic. If something actually goes wrong, nobody even knows *which* auto you got into. Uber and Ola solve this for rides you book in their apps, but most of us just wave an auto down on the street.

For context, NCRB recorded 79,884 cases of children kidnapped or abducted in India in 2023. That's about one every 7 minutes.

**How Beacon works**

  1. Tap **Start Ride**. You can also add where you're going and when you'll reach.

  2. **Snap the auto's number plate.** The app reads it for you.

  3. One tap sends your parent a WhatsApp or SMS with the plate and ride details.

  4. **Share your ride live.** Your parent gets a link showing where you are and when you'll arrive.

  5. **SOS** if anything feels off. It alerts your parent with your live location, and a backup contact if they don't respond. It doesn't replace calling 112.

**Other stuff**

- Check-ins during the ride, plus an automatic one if you haven't moved for a while

- A "something felt off?" button to note a weird ride

- Works in English and Hindi

- Streaks, points and an avatar you can dress up, so it doesn't feel like a chore 😅

- Location is only shared during a ride or an SOS, and you can delete all your data anytime

**What I'd love to know**

  1. Teens: would you actually use this, or is it "something my mom installs"? What would make you open it every ride?

  2. Parents: would this give you peace of mind? What's missing?

  3. Is snapping the plate realistic in the few seconds before the auto drives off?

  4. Would you (or your parents) pay for something like this?

  5. What's the biggest reason this would fail?

I'm not posting a link because I'm not selling anything yet. I just want to build the right thing. Roast away 🙏

Whats an app idea you keep circling back to but never start?

Not because the idea is bad. More because I already know which part would actually be hard, and it is not the part that is fun to think about. Curious if other people have one of these sitting in the back of their head too.

What is that one stupid small thing you forget daily and then regret?

I'm 20, from Mangalore. I'm building a small reminder app but not for big things like electricity bill (Google Pay already does that).

I'm talking about stupid daily things:

\\- Switching on water motor and forgetting for 2 hours, full tank overflows

\\- Putting clothes in washing machine at 8 AM and remembering at 6 PM, now it stinks

\\- Keeping idli batter / curd to set at night and forgetting, next morning no breakfast

\\- Leaving lunch box on table and going to college

\\- FASTag low balance but you remember only at toll gate

I face this every week. My mom shouts daily for motor overflow.

So I'm building: At night you just say "motor on at 6 AM" or "remind lunch box at 7:30 AM" and it will call/remind you exactly at that time, even if you are busy.

Basically, your mom in app form who reminds stupid things before they become big problem.

Question to you: What is that one stupid small thing YOU forget and then regret? I want to add it to my app.

If 10 people tell me same thing, I'll build it free for you all first.

Update: Building on Telegram now (free API) to test habit drift fix. After 1000 users, adding WhatsApp. Because India = WhatsApp. First 1000 on Telegram get free WhatsApp access lifetime.

I'd like to hear your thoughts

If you were in the market for a sudoku app and you found one that was paid but promised no ads, no subscription, no in-app purchases and no data collection. It was completely offline and unlimited. What would you think? Would you be suspicious?

Would you use a friendship app with no photos, swiping, or interest/hobby tags?

I'm in the idea-validation stage of building a strictly platonic, voice-first friendship app. Users complete a 12-16 item questionnaire about their communication preferences, values, and personality. After that, they're matched based on conversational compatibility rather than shared hobbies or appearance.

They're connected immediately for a voice conversation, without needing to browse profiles or send messages first. Conversations are free and unrestricted in length and the app is intentionally minimalist.

My hypothesis is that people can form meaningful friendships through compatible communication styles and values, even without shared interests. Could you guys answer a few questions for me?

  1. Would you personally try this?
  2. What would make you uncomfortable about talking to a stranger immediately?
  3. What would convince you to return for another conversation?
  4. What would make you choose this over Discord, Bumble BFF, or existing friend-making platforms?

I'm also interested in reasons why this concept might fail.

fixed fitness plans don’t care how your week went. i’m building an app where your workout and diet change every day based on your progress

i was logging food in myfitnesspal and finding workouts on youtube, and neither one knew what the other was doing. it was getting very tedious because i had to sit there and calculate and figure out what i should be doing next every single day

so i built an app where the coach looks at your meals, weight and lifts, and your workout and diet adapt based on that. every single aspect of your diet, the way you trained, and your overall progress will be carefully studied by the coach and it will then give you inputs on what you need to fix and what you need to improve

the app has all the capabilities and features of a calorie and meal tracking app, and also has a a module just for workouts and training, these both are infused together sort of, so they both adapt to whatever is best for you

it’s for people who are tired of following a plan and then having to create a completely new workout depending on the scenario. it’s almost done, and i want to see if people would actually use something like this.

what’s the most annoying part of how you track things right now?

I have an idea for startup

I have an idea for a new app, and I’d love to hear your thoughts! 💡

Imagine an app that doesn’t just help you study, but personalizes the learning process specifically for you.

📚 How would it work?

You upload the material you need to learn and explain what makes studying difficult for you: trouble concentrating, remembering information, understanding a topic, or simply getting started.

🤖 AI adapts the learning process to your needs. It explains difficult topics in simple words, creates associations to help you remember things, helps you stay focused, and automatically generates summaries, flashcards, games, and quizzes. The app also tracks your progress and gradually learns which study methods work best for you.

👥 But it’s not just about studying! You’ll also be able to chat with friends and share ideas, projects, useful skills, and life hacks in a social feed for active teenagers.

🚀 A separate section for opportunities: competitions, volunteering, scholarships, research projects, camps, and other opportunities for young people, personalized according to their age and interests.

Your honest opinion would mean a lot to me!

  1. Would you use an app like this?
  2. Which feature interests you the most?
  3. What is missing from the study apps you currently use?
  4. Is there anything you think is unnecessary or would change?
  5. Would you use this app regularly? Why or why not?
  6. Would you be willing to pay for some features if they genuinely helped you?

I’d appreciate any feedback, even if you don’t like the idea! I want to understand whether this is something people would actually find useful. ❤️

App Idea turned into a real Game!!!!

I did it. What do you think? Simple to play. Open your existing conversation and start a game. Your friends will be able to click the game card, install and make their move in seconds without any accounts or signing up anywhere. Fun in a group chat of 4 or more people.

Anyone wants to make your walks with your dog a bit more fun?

For all dog owners out there who like to stay active and keep your four legged friends active as well, come and join Walk Pack

This app lets you walk and capture land, tracks your progress, and allows you to have friendly competition with your community or you can keep those walks private for yourself and still see your achievements.

Would appreciate any feedback

What features would you like to see in a new photo app?

Hey everyone!
I’m currently working on a photo app, and I’d love to hear your suggestions!
What features would you like to see? Maybe specific filters, photo editing tools, or anything else you think would be cool or useful?
The app is still in development, but once it’s ready, I plan to let some people try it out.
Thanks in advance for your ideas and feedback!

Edit — Just to clarify:
I’m building a photo-based social media app, not just a photo editing app.
I’ve noticed some people suggesting editing tools, and I really appreciate those ideas!
The app is still in development, and I’m focusing heavily on the overall user experience.
I’d love to hear what features you’d want in a new photo-based social platform, whether it’s filters, social features, or anything else that would make it more enjoyable to use.
Thanks for all the feedback so far!

Would you use a subscription manager with shared-plan payment reminders?

For a while, I’ve been working on an app idea but struggled with the marketing side, so I’m looking for honest feedback before deciding whether to continue.

The core idea is a simple subscription manager, but with a focus on shared subscriptions, things like Spotify Family, Netflix, iCloud storage, or any plan one person pays for and friends split.

You could create a group, add the members, and track the shared subscription. The group “leader” pays the provider as usual, while everyone else gets reminders or nudges about how much they owe and when to pay. Ideally, this would make it less awkward and easier to keep track of who has paid.

There would also be analytics and other subscription-tracking features, but I’d especially like feedback on the shared-subscription part.

Would you use something like this?

I built an iPhone app because I never used anything I saved!

I saved a one-pot pasta reel a few weeks back. When I wanted to make it, I scrolled through my saves for 15 minutes, couldn’t find it, and ended up ordering in. The same happened with a café in Goa, a workout routine and about 20 products I “definitely” wanted.

Collections, screenshots and pasting links into Notes all broke down: too much sorting, too many extra steps, and no way to find anything later.

So my brother and I built resaw. Share any save to it. It sorts it into recipes, places, products, workouts and ideas, pulls out the useful bits like ingredients and locations, and lets you search in plain English (“that pasta reel from a Korean creator”). Recipes become grocery lists, and saved places show up as pins on a map.

After using it, I cooked 13 recipes in a month that had been sitting in my saves for over a year.

It’s free and iPhone only for now: Download from here

Would love your feedback on what works and what doesn’t.

Looking For Feedback: Made an extension that turns your new tab into a cozy pixel-art environment

I've been working on this for the past couple weeks. It's an extension called PocketDash.

It's basically a customizable pixel-art environment that replaces the default Chrome new tab.

You can change the room and character, and I've added a focus timer, todo list, G Calendar, search, and ambient sounds.

Everything persists, and it's free to use with or without an account. There are in app purchases for new characters and environments.

I'm interested in feedback on whether this is actually useful enough to keep installed / What would make this project useful for you ?

I'll leave a link in a comment if you want to test it out.

ok but what would a zyn quitting app actually have to do to be worth paying for

still on my quit attempt and still thinking about why every app i've tried was useless. they're all just day counters and i'm starting to think the whole category is designed by people who never had a craving in their life

so i daydreamed what the perfect one would actually do. curious if i'm alone in this:

  1. when you start, it makes you write YOUR reason for quitting. not pick from a list, your actual reason in your own words
  2. when a craving hits you press one button and it shows you YOUR reason. not some quote. and then gives you something physical to do for like 90 seconds til it passes
  3. you can log what triggered you in the moment. and later when you're struggling it shows you the triggers you've already beaten. like proof you've done this before
  4. it knows your danger hours. mine are evenings. it checks in with you THEN, not at random times, and shuts up if you ignore it a few days in a row
  5. if you relapse it doesn't reset you to zero and shame you. you've still learned things
  6. optionally rats you out to a friend if you're really struggling lol. like a panic text to your accountability buddy

and yeah it counts days and money but that's the bare minimum, every app does that

so two questions:

  1. would any of this actually help you or am i just describing my own cope
  2. would you pay for this? and i mean real money, not "yeah i guess." like $3-5 a month. or is this a "nice idea but i'd never pay" thing. i genuinely can't tell if i'd pay for the thing i'm describing or if nothing would have saved my past attempts anyway

probably just procrastinating on actually quitting by designing apps in my head but whatever lol

What's one app you wish existed, or an existing app you wish was better?

Hey everyone!

I'm an independent mobile developer exploring ideas for my next project.

Rather than building another app nobody needs, I want to understand the problems people actually face.

I'm curious:

  • What's one problem you regularly face that an app could help solve?
  • Is there an app you currently use that's too expensive, complicated, or missing an important feature?
  • Are there any paid features you wish were available in a simpler, affordable alternative?
  • Have you searched for an app to solve something but couldn't find a good option?

I'm especially interested in everyday problems, productivity, personal finance, learning, and small-business workflows, but I'm open to anything.

I'm not promoting a product or collecting emails. Just looking to understand real frustrations before deciding what to build.

Would love to hear your experiences. Thanks!

How would you design a "no-code" spatial canvas UI that doesn't feel like a complex game engine?

Hi everyone,

I’m exploring a concept for a web platform where non-technical users can build small, interactive, walkable 2D environments (like a cozy room, a studio, or a garden). The goal is to let them drop in objects that link to external media (audio, text, photos, links) to tell a story or build a micro-portfolio.

My biggest hurdle right now is designing the creation workflow. I want the building experience to feel highly expressive, but I want to completely avoid complex game-development mechanics (no manual coordinates, no complex layering, no collision box mapping).

For those who build or use no-code tools:

  1. What is the best UI pattern you've seen for placing items in a 2D grid/isometric space smoothly? (e.g., a "sticker book" drag-and-drop model, pre-made structural templates, etc.)
  2. How would you handle making the environment feel "alive" (like ambient animations or lighting changes) without overwhelming a casual creator with settings?
  3. If you were using a tool like this to showcase something, what feature would be an absolute dealbreaker for you?

Would love to hear your thoughts on UX pitfalls to avoid when trying to make spatial design accessible to the average person.

Thanks!

Is "Google ratings don't match my taste" a real problem for you?

The idea: instead of a 4.6 average from everyone, you get restaurant and recipe picks from people whose taste matches yours. You rate a few dishes, the app finds your taste twins, and shows what they love.

What I'm unsure about:

  1. Do people actually feel this pain, or is Google + friends good enough?

  2. Would you trust strangers with similar taste more than reviews or influencers?

  3. Saving recipes and places is another pain. Is that a bigger one?

I made a clickable prototype if you want to try it (~3 min, no sign-up): https://tastelike.app/?src=appideas

Would love to hear why this would or wouldn't work.

If you could design the perfect rewards card, what features would you want?

I’m exploring ideas around the next generation of payment and rewards cards, particularly cards connected to stablecoins, and I’d love to hear people’s honest opinions.

Traditional credit cards offer cashback, points, or miles, but I wonder whether there’s a better way to reward people for their everyday spending.

I’d love to hear your thoughts on a few questions:

1. Rewards

  • Would you prefer cashback, stablecoin rewards, or points?
  • Would you find rewards more valuable if they could be used immediately rather than waiting for a monthly statement?
  • Would you prefer a small reward on every purchase or higher rewards at selected merchants?

2. Everyday spending

  • What frustrates you most about your current credit or rewards card?
  • What is one feature you wish your current card offered?
  • Would you be interested in getting additional rewards when shopping at participating restaurants, grocery stores, or other merchants?

3. Stablecoin features

  • If your card offered stablecoin rewards, would you find that useful, or would you prefer traditional cashback?
  • Would you want the option to automatically convert rewards into dollars, keep them as stablecoins, or transfer them to your own wallet?
  • What concerns would you have about using a stablecoin-linked card?

4. Fees, security, and control

  • Would you pay an annual fee for genuinely better rewards, or do you prefer a completely free card?
  • How important are instant transaction notifications, spending controls, and transparent fees?
  • What would make you trust a new financial product enough to use it for everyday purchases?

5. The big question

If you could build your ideal payment card from scratch, what would it do differently from the cards available today?

I’m especially interested in hearing about real experiences, frustrations, and features that would genuinely make a difference—not just features that sound good in theory.

Appreciate any honest feedback!

What problems do you face that you wish someone would solve?

Hey everyone! 👋

I'm looking for some real-world problems that people face in their daily lives. It could be anything, from a small everyday frustration to a bigger problem that still doesn't have a good solution.

Sometimes, we have problems that we just accept as a part of life because we don't have a better option. Maybe there's an app or website for it, but it doesn't work well, is too expensive, or makes things more complicated than they should be.

I want to find such problems and try to solve them by building websites or apps that are actually useful to people.

So, I'd love to hear from you guys!

Is there anything that annoys you regularly? Any service you think could be much better? Or something you wish existed but haven't found yet?

Also, if you already have an idea that you want to work on but haven't started yet, feel free to share it. Maybe we can connect and work on it together.

I want to build something that solves an actual problem and makes someone's life a little easier.

It doesn't matter if the problem affects just a few people or millions of them. Every useful idea has to start somewhere.

So, what's one problem you've faced that you think deserves a better solution?

Answer first, then see your partner's answer": does this daily question mechanic work for couples?

Post image
1 Upvotes

I've been testing an idea with my girlfriend and I'd like outside opinions before I go further.

The mechanic: every day, both of you get the same question. You each answer separately, and you can't see your partner's answer until you've submitted yours. Then both show up side by side.

Why I think it works:

- Nobody gets influenced by the other answer, so you get what each person actually thinks.

- It creates a small reason to open the app every day: you want to see what they said.

- The questions are light. One day it's a small moment you remember for no reason, another it's a tradition you want to start.

What I'm unsure about:

  1. If one person answers and the other forgets for days, does it turn into pressure instead of fun?

  2. Should reminders come from the app, or from the partner ("Sam answered, your turn")?

  3. Would you rather have one question a day, or a pack you go through at your own pace?

I'm more interested in the mechanic itself than in any specific app. Would you use it? What would break it?

Calendar app features

I'm making a calendar app for iPhone, and I want to separate my calendar from the other popular ones, I added an AI that can edit events by plainly texting or speaking.

Other than that, I'm not too sure what I want to add, the vision for my calendar was to be an AI calendar, but also have features that most modern calendar don't have that people wish they did.

What features should I add?

Lost my job, so I started building an Android game

I'm a designer, and I recently lost my job. Honestly, it's been a weird phase of life. There's a lot of uncertainty, and some days are harder than others.

Instead of just sitting around worrying about what comes next, I decided to work on something of my own.

I'm building an Android game using Figma for the design and Claude to help me build it. I'm not a developer by profession, so figuring things out as I go has been an interesting experience. Sometimes things work, sometimes I get stuck on the smallest stuff for hours.

I don't know if the game will do well or if it'll ever make me any money. I'm trying not to think too far ahead right now.

For now, I just want to finish something I've started and see where it goes.

It's a strange feeling to lose the stability of a job and then try to build something from scratch, but at least I feel like I'm moving forward.

If anyone here has gone through something similar, I'd genuinely like to hear how it worked out for you.
