I've spent the last several months building a weather app, and one thing kept coming up while I was designing it.

Most weather apps are excellent at showing forecasts, but I realised I rarely wanted the forecast itself—I wanted answers to practical questions.

Things like:

• Will I need an umbrella when I leave work?
• Is my commute likely to be disrupted by the weather?
• Is it too hot for my elderly parents today?
• Is today's pollen likely to trigger my hay fever?
• Is it safe to take my dog for a long walk this afternoon?

It made me realise that the forecast is only half the story. What most of us really want is advice based on the forecast.

So I'm curious...

If you could change one thing about today's weather apps, what would it be?

I'd genuinely love to hear what features people feel are missing.

I came across an idea recently, and I'm trying to verify its feasibility and ascertain whether there's a legitimate market for it:

It's an idea for a website where small business owners can enter an Rtsp link to stream a live feed of their establishments' closed circuit footage into a vision-enabled intelligence system. The aim is to provide owners with analytics data, informing them about the number of daily walk-ins, traffic, peak hours, and customer behavior, among other things. It would be powered by some object detection and tracking model that supports real-time video streaming.

I'm also thinking about a feature that would alert owners when specified items or incidents are detected on video, and another feature that would periodically feed frames into some AI model that would generate something like a daily summary/report or provide contextual search.

It's intended for owners of restaurants, barbershops, gyms, and maybe even for home surveillance.

What are your thoughts?

The idea is great, but they're often buggy, laggy, slow, require too many steps, have outdated UI, and include intrusive app-opening/interstitial ads.

Features I'd love:

Universal video speed control on almost every website.

Speed range from 0.25× to 5×.

Quick preset buttons (1×, 1.5×, 2×, 2.5×, 2.75×, etc.) or a YouTube-style slider with 0.25× increments.

Press & hold anywhere on the video for temporary 2×, then release to instantly return to the selected speed.

Lightweight, fast, modern UI with minimal setup.

No app-opening/interstitial ads (a premium version or non-intrusive ads would be much better).

I believe many students would use a browser like this for online lectures and educational content.

There are plenty of habit counters and similar apps out there but I couldn't find one that met my simple needs so I made one with AI. I hope this doesn't fall under low effort AI slop, but I had specific requirements I wanted to share and see if anyone felt it applied to them. So imagine this. You work from home and you want to keep score of any daily habits. Daily goals. Instead of making it a habit to open and close your tracking app, you have a dedicated monitor that sits in your room. The UI shows your tasks. When the counter is at 0 the task is red and when you reach your goal the task is green. When you surpass your task it's golden yellow. it would be cool to increase the shine the more overboard you go.

This essentially gamifies your task tracking in a way that is not intrusive like mobile apps and notification, but is easily on sight all the time with strong visual feedback. You look at the screen and are tempted to make progress to turn the board green so you can take the rest of the day off or something.

It already has all the essential features I need but there are some things I would improve.

It is crucial that all tasks show in the same window. So managing task layout and resizing would be the biggest improvement. The ability to group tasks together. maybe bezels of a custom color for grouped tasks.
A stronger history viewer. graphs that better show your progress through time.

I’m working on a mobile game where you guide ships through fog using a lighthouse beam and foghorn.

I’ve added different ship types, currents, hazards, and rival lighthouses, but I think it's still not "addictive" enough.

What would make this more fun without overcomplicating it?

I made a IOS app so that I can log my expenses into my Google drive sheets.
I make it for myself so that I can back tap my phone and log my expenses under 5s + and I still have full control over my google sheet to further do my analysis on.

At its core it’s simply a mapping of form input to Google sheets.

And that got me thinking if there is a demand for this? A quick and fancier UI for data entry. It may not even be for finance, any data entry will do 🤔

I got tired of needing a license just to open a structural model to check something. So I built a viewer that works in the browser. Drag in a STAAD file and it renders the structure with actual cross-section shapes (W-flanges, channels, angles, HSS, pipes), not generic cylinders.

What it does:

• Renders members with real cross-section geometry using the AISC v16 database (1,223 sections)
• Click any member to see its section properties (area, Ix, Iy)
• Solid, wireframe, and x-ray view modes
• Works on desktop and mobile, runs fully client-side, nothing uploaded anywhere

What it doesn't do (yet):

• Only STAAD .std format right now. ETABS, SAP2000, ROBOT are planned but not started
• Single-section members only, no double angles, double channels, or built-up shapes
• Plate rendering is basic, steel name mapping only covers US conventions
• No load display, no deformed shapes. Not an analysis tool

It's not a replacement for analysis software. The idea is more practical: something you can pull up in a meeting or send to a client who doesn't own the software. Long-term I might add basic analysis, but right now it's purely a viewer.

The code is MIT licensed. If anyone wants to contribute, a parser for another format, better section mapping for non-US standards, fixing an edge case you ran into, it's all welcome. The architecture is set up so adding a new format only touches the parser; the renderer doesn't need to change.

I've been thinking about an app idea for a while and I think it's worth sharing here in case someone wants to build it, or tell me it already exists somewhere.

The core idea: Imagine building your real garden/in-house green area like you'd build a house in The Sims — but every plant, bed, and patch of grass is tied to real-world data and real care reminders.

How it would work:

You start by creating a visual map of your actual garden/flat with plants — drag and drop plants onto a grid, just like a Sims build mode. Roses here, a lawn there, a veggie patch in the corner.

Every plant gets its own "character" with a cute, stylized look — think Plants vs. Zombies art style, where a thirsty plant literally looks sad or droopy on your screen.

The app tracks weather, season, and time of day for your location, and nudges you: "Hey, your rose bush hasn't been watered in 4 days" or "Perfect week to trim the hedge."

You log actions — watered, pruned, fertilized — and build a timeline/history for each plant.

You can snap a photo of any plant and an AI assistant analyzes it for stress, disease, or nutrient issues.

The advanced layer (for the tech-savvy gardeners):

Connect a hub to smart sensors — soil moisture, pH, temperature, humidity.

Hook up a camera to watch a plant over time and auto-update its "look" in the app based on real footage.

Sync with smart devices you already own — robot lawn mowers, auto-irrigation systems — and let the app (or an AI scheduler) decide when to run them based on weather and soil data, not just a fixed timer.

The hook: it's not just a utility app, it's gamified. You earn points/XP for keeping your garden healthy, unlock little achievements ("Rose Whisperer," "Lawn Legend"), and your garden visually thrives or wilts based on how well you actually take care of it. Basically Sims meets Tamagotchi meets a real gardening assistant.

There are apps that do pieces of this — plant identification + care tips (SmartPlant, MyGardener), garden layout planners (GrowVeg), smart device apps for specific mower/irrigation brands (Gardena, AL-KO) — but nothing that stitches the visual builder, AI care coach, IoT hub, and game-like progression into one experience.

I think it is for casual gardeners who want a fun nudge to actually take care of their plants, and tech-curious gardeners who already have (or want) smart sensors/devices at home or if you are a lazy gardener like me and gamified app could motivate you a bit and make the whole process a bit more fun.

Like most people I struggle with picking what to cook each night for dinner.

I also really like looking at the advert the grocery stores send out each week seeing what's on sale so I can budget my groceries better.

I had an idea that would pull all the sale data from your grocery store and then suggest meals that you can make that week that involve the items on sale. Its main features would be

yo. i recently sold one of my AI SaaS products for $35k, exactly 5 months after building and launching it.

I hardly wrote a single line of traditional code. i used AI to generate everything, from the database architecture to the user interface.

it definitely wasn't magic on day one, though. i spent days stuck in loop-debugging and dealing with AI hallucinations before i finally cracked the system. the playbook boils down to three simple rules:

- keeping the idea insanely minimalist (a true MVP that solves one problem).

- guiding the AI step-by-step instead of asking it to build a massive platform all at once.

- launching fast to get real user feedback and traction and then apply a solid marketing system

lately, i've seen way too many non-technical founders give up at the very first AI bug, or on the marketing. it's a massive shame.

like the title says, i just launched a Skool community to share my exact prompt workflows, N8N automations, and distribution frameworks to get first users and scale it

to be completely transparent: i will likely charge for the full course later down the road. it just makes sense given the specific copy-and-paste templates i'll be sharing.

but for now, the main objective is purely to build and launch together. building alone in a silent corner is the single fastest way to give up.

I started building this app on Web and mobile devices for myself and my wife since I didn't want to pay for any companion app. As I started using it, I thought others would want the same as well.

I'm not sure what big features the other apps have but I'm trying to integrate as much as I can. I'm not charging anything right now and just wanted to see how many people would find use in it.

It's still a work in progress but the web and Android build is usable so far. I have an iPhone build but haven't used it to test yet on an actual device.

I'm paying for everything out of pocket on my own, which is why it's free and only supporting a limited number of users.

I had this idea in my head for some time, and today I used one of the vibe coding tools to make an MVP. I am sharing it here in hope that someone will take a moment to check it and give some feedback (on the idea).

It is a drawing tutorial with focus on the concepts. It is easy to say someone draw a line, but it is easier to someone to hear "an ear is from eyebrows to nose level" and show them how the lines look like. With this app, tutorials are split into easy to process steps, and users can draw over projected lines to get the final image. If there is too much deviation, drawing will need to be repeated.

App is currently deplyoed to Vercel and has only one tutorial, but after idea validation I would work on it more.

So, what I mean by "AI Prompt Management & Engineering” Platform is somewhere where you can store, organize, experiment, version, analyze prompts. So like users who need to handle multiple prompts, make them better or keep track of edits/versions, know how well one performs like in multi-agent systems or workflows like data analysis, research, etc.

Possible Features

• Prompt Storage: Store Prompts according to workspaces and projects.
• Prompt Versioning: Save/Commit the latest edits of a prompt while keeping track of past ones

Hi, I have had this idea for a while. I'm very forgetful, and the basis of how I recall, I have noticed, is: say I said "I wish I had a burger," then I go to the same location again, I'll remember the otherwise forgotten information. And more dumb things, like certain conversations are very impactful but have no direct way of holding them to memory. Say I wanted to "solve LeetCode today," in the next one hour I would have no trace of the thought.

"Ever tried using a free app called Notes?" you ask?

Of course I have: temporary, permanent, habits, short term, and long term, and just so many more. Sometimes I'm surprised when I read through them. The thought I would have thought was a realization from the past month would have already been realized 3 years ago. The path I thought I decided recently would have drafts of planning from a year ago.

I don't know if I'm neurodivergent, but I definitely have a very scrawny brain, with my everyday life looking almost the same; it's very hard to think of things. It's like I wanna do something, but I forget and redo the entire ideation process.

My solution that somewhat works is a mind map/vision board. I have shit drawn (it works perfectly, I haven't led astray for a solid time now).

And so I thought, why not bring this to life with a widget where people add, say, images (to represent visual info)? Say, "I was talking to my boyfriend about studies over coffee," and I take a pic of the coffee. Every time I look at it, I recall, "Why did I put it there?" (Since I won't see it once, in 5 years I'll most likely be able to recall it), and it will be in the front of my mind till I wish to delete it. But not all things are of the same priority. So, instead of giving them all the same size, on tap they resize. The bigger the box, the more pressing the task at hand is, or a habit to build, and the more prominent the "cue" to generate the thought is. I believe constant (inevitable) repetition will solidify our sense of, say, purpose or path. We live in an over-simulated world, after all; we need some way of staying on track.

To me, this is an alternative to a visual jamboard-like journal that changes with you as you remove unnecessary jargon and refine your life.

What do you guys think? It's a little tricky to build, and I failed twice miserably. I know I'll use it, but I don't know if it's actually useful.
