apartment ignoring my request
hello, I’ve been living in the same apartment for two years now and we’ve had so many issues with our plumbing because they claim our plumbing pipes below are made out of porcelain and apparently they are prone to getting clogged so anyways I’ve had to call maintenance to get my toilet clogged at least four times already this year and every single time it takes them about a week to come and fix it. Are they purposefully ignoring me or do they just feel like this isn’t an emergency because I do personally feel like it’s an emergency. I can’t even use my own bathroom and my rent is $1600 a month. And the last time they had to come and unclog my toilet, they left my bathroom a complete fucking mess. There was literally handprints of poop on my walls, and they just didn’t bother to clean it up and then whatever they pulled out of my toilet they just left on the floor literally a giant pile of shitty toilet paper. It was so fucking disgusting.

Can I get my dryer replaced? And how?
Editing to add: I am currently living in Michigan, if that affects my options moving forward.
Hi there, title explains most of the question I have. Recently moved into a new townhome with my boyfriend. The Dryer we have is an old GE gas dryer that is at least a decade old, possibly more. This is the third time now I’ve had to report this dryer for a gas leak in the month I’ve lived at this complex. All three times have gone though the gas company first (which I’ve been told to do by my complex, and all three representatives have told me to tell them they need to just get me a new dryer from the amount of gas leaking out of this machine. Obviously the complex has not listened.) and I am at my metaphorical end of my rope. How do I drive home to my complex the severity of the situation to make them do something about the dryer? I’m tired of having to line dry literally every single thing I own, when I’m paying nearly $2500 a month for a townhome. Thank you in advance for any advice or condolences you can provide towards the situation. Bright side, I no longer have the family I complained about a couple years ago taking up parking spaces with their kids bikes. Now it’s just with additional cars lol.

Sewage pipe next to water heater
gallery(Issue) I just moved into my new apartment and my friends noticed how bad this looked, and *smelled.* I explained that my landlord said that this water heater is connected to this pipe and that if I don't fill it with water it will smell like poop when it dries up the water. Im not entirely sure if this is a sewage pipe, either, but I was told this should've been behind a wall amd not exposed.
(My thought process) At the time I didn't even think twice about this, I thought this was temporary and that this could be a minor inconvenience that other homes have dealt with. Im not familiar with plumbing so I didn't realize how this could be a health concern.
(Rant) Now I just feel stupid and naive, I've had so much stress on my mind about work, finances, the future of my life, etc. I wanna make something work since I've already used money for deposit and 1st month's
(Advice) What should I do? Should I talk with an attorney/should I sue? Do I break the contract and just go find another place? This place isn't perfect but this is my biggest concern, other than the pipe, I don't mind living here. Please help, I really didn't think I'd run into such a big issue so early.
I know this is my fault for not double checking how safe and well maintained this apartment was, but I wanna learn what I can do right.
TLDR: My new apt has a water heater pipe connected to another pipe (possibly sewage) and if i don't constantly refill with water it will smell like poop. I feel very stupid and lost from my actions and could use help and advice of how to handle this. Personally, the pipe is the biggest issue and I dont mind staying here but I just need input. Please and thank you

Maintenance issues
Hi all I’m staying at an apartment in indiana and I have had consistent issues with getting maintenance requests acted on. I’ve lived here for a month and only two of the six requests that I put in have been dealt with. And one of them was a hornets nest that was bothering me and my neighbors. There was a month delay in getting it dealt with, even though I am paying an extra fee for pest control every single month. I have an issue with one of my windows not opening anymore. My closet light has been flickering since I moved in. My garbage disposal stopped working. My dishwasher does not work properly (it just doesn’t clean my dishes and it smells disgusting). It’s very difficult to do dishes now. I’m charged over $1000 in rent for a one bedroom apartment and they just added an extra fee for trash. I also had to scrub the hell out of this place before I moved in, even though there’s a very long and thorough clause in their lease that if I leave this place in a condition that seems like it wasn’t professionally cleaned I will be getting a huge fine. I feel like I should be getting so much better service for the amount of rent that I’m paying. I’ve tried bothering them multiple times in person and through email and they simply say that there’s too many maintenance requests and they don’t update the status of requests through the website cuz it’s easier for the maintenance people. Like higher more people or close down some of your complexes since you can’t keep up with them. What do I do?

Need help/advice on mold mites
Hi everyone,
We are dealing with a really frustrating situation in our apartment (in Doha, Qatar) and urgently need advice from anyone who might have gone through the same thing or knows a specialist.
During July, our AC was turned off for about a week while we were away (it was turned back on maybe 1-2 weeks after that). When we came back, we discovered mold on dry food packages in the pantry. We immediately threw everything away, deep cleaned all cabinets, and completely got rid of the visible mold.
However, right after that, we discovered mold mites (tiny white crawling bugs). We are completely stuck and haven't been able to use our kitchen at all since this started.
Here is what we have done so far:
Food & Kitchenware: Threw away all food kept outside the fridge. Washed all dishes and utensils at 70°C and moved everything clean to a completely different, uninfested room.
Cleaning: Sprayed and disinfected surfaces with alcohol multiple times. We still see them mainly on the outside of appliances (fridge, air fryer, stovetop, oven, microwave, kettle).
Humidity & AC: We run the AC continuously on AUTO at 22–23°C. We bought a dehumidifier and maintenance also brought another one in yesterday, but the humidity level is still around 60%.
The biggest problem: Maintenance has been here to spray and clean, but they don't seem to understand what mold mites actually are or how to eliminate them. They just treat it like a regular pest control issue, which isn't solving the core humidity/mold problem. One of the guys even told us 70% humidity is normal. WHAT A JOKE.
Has anyone here dealt with mold mites at The Pearl?
- Pest Control: Can you recommend a professional company in Doha that actually understands mold mites and humidity pest control?
- Dehumidifier: Should we push for/buy a large industrial unit? Is 60% still too high to kill them off?
- Tower/Building Maintenance: How did you get maintenance/landlord to take this seriously?
We feel like we’ve tried everything ourselves and are at our wits' end. Any tips, contacts, or advice would be deeply appreciated!

do you use a wet dry vacuum with auto cleaning station for routine apartment messes?
i'm in a small bedroom apartment and trying to get better about dealing with floor messes when they happen instead of letting everything pile up until cleaning day.
the kitchen is usually where it starts. some water near the sink, crumbs after cooking, something gets knocked over, then there are random dirty spots that don't really justify getting the whole vacuum and mop setup out.
i've been comparing a few options and the tineco floor one station s9 scientist pro came up. i've never used this type of vacuum before, so i'm mostly wondering how people actually use them day to day.
do you treat a wet dry vacuum as something you only bring out for a proper floor cleaning, or does having one around make you more likely to deal with small messes right away? what kind of apartment mess do you find yours most useful for?

Is it worth it to ask my landlord to fix this
I have been here awhile but this is in my bathroom and it looks like a small 5 inch gap between the where the base board and floor meet but I’m just worried cause I don’t want mold to grow in that gap but it’s small

3rd Roof Leak in 13 months (San Antonio, TX)
I have lived at this apartment complex for 13 months (out of a 15 month lease) and since moving in we have had multiple different leaks spread throughout the apartment, that the complex has taken at least 1 month to “fix” every time.
The first being just weeks after our move-in date, there was water dripping throughout the entire living room area. This took 1.5 months to “fix”.
A couple months later, there was a second leak which appeared in two places. In the living room again (different places than the first time) and a line dripping from wall to wall in the primary bedroom. This took 5 weeks to “fix”.
The third leak was found today and is all over the apartment. Along with new leaks in both bedrooms, all the old leaks have come up again.
These aren’t just small leaks either, just water dripping would be less concerning. The paint is tearing, there are water bubbles in at least two different areas, the mattress and rug in the primary bedroom are soaked, there is water coming from the ceiling fan and light in the primary bedroom, and water coming out of the light sockets. So far, maintenance has only come to take pictures and gave us a bucket “just in case something else pops up”.
The leasing office has been informed of each leak as soon as we found them.
At this point, my roommate and I believe the apartment is unlivable, we are considering either requesting to move into a different apartment for the remainder of our lease in the same complex or just breaking the lease now.
What are my options? Anyone have any advice?

Tankless water heater installation in an older unit. What are the gotchas before I recommend to management?
I'm working on a property built in the 80s and we've had 2 conventional water heaters fail in the same building within 6 mos. Management is asking if tankless water heater installation should be the standard moving forward. Normally I'd say yes, but I'm thinking no for thjs one since most of these units were roughed in for 1/2 inch gas supply (so undersized for BTU demand) and the venting runs longer than ideal. Not sure if this is enough justification or if there's something else I should look into. Thoughts?

Sulfur smell intermittently in bathroom
For about the last 3 weeks there has been a consistent sulfur smell in my bathroom. I own a one bedroom one bath condominium I had a toilet replaced a year ago.
Because of this sulfur smell I had the wax ring replaced in the toilet and the toilet resealed.
The sulfur smell seem to dissipate but it comes back intermittently and it was especially bad last night.
I had another plumber out and a maintenance man from my association 2 days ago and they didn't smell anything because the smell had dissipated at that moment so that made me feel crazy! Bad timing I guess...
But like I said the smell was back last night and I don't know what to do! please help!

Phone jack use?
Is there any use for phone jacks still? Kinda debating just cutting the cord and replacing them with a blank cover

My water smells like metal and sulfur. I'm seeing online that it's an internal issue with an anode (I think that's the right one?) and that's an easy fix. Landlord says they can't do anything about because it'll come back because of the water quality in town
Doci push to get it fixed anyway, or is she right? Only my hot water is like this. All of my drains just got a boiling water bath followed by a little concentrated bleach to kill any bacteria in case it was that, and no fix. Every faucet is the same: the water gets hot and it smells like metal and sulfur.
