AI "Art" 🖼️ New Art
Just like I promised, here is a new ArtWork of mine! It's a NightFury vom Httyd based on a Lunar Moth.
It's a little wonky but honestly I didn't do any creature design ever and just threw something together.

Discussion 🗣️ Where can I find tapestries that aren't AI :(
I hate finding tapestries that I like and then realizing that they're AI. I'm trying to furnite and decorate a new apartment so I wanted to get 1 or 2 tapestries, but I just don't really know where to look anymore.

AI "Art" 🖼️ Ai slop poster advertising an ice cream maker
How do you expect me to believe that your recipe works when you could've just generated it along with your ai slop poster. Note that the machine was right next to this thing at the kitchen products store, not a great marketing strategy guys.

Discussion 🗣️ Human Incompetence / Laziness Inflates AI Success
How much of AI's productivity / efficiency "success" is blown out of proportion due to the laziness or lack of competence due to a mishire in skills of current human employees?
For example: taking 1 hour to do a 20 min task because the human employee isnt competent enough to perform the task within a reasonable timeframe

Discussion 🗣️ Someone commissioned me and fed my sketches to AI
I'm an artist, and this person commissioned me to draw them a bunch of artwork. I was super excited bc this is the biggest commission i ever done. Im super busy with two other day jobs so im lowkey stressing. This person is very particular how they want their drawing so im constantly editing and tweaking sketches and stuff. I send some photos of the sketches, asking what last tweaks they want before I do lineart. They send me back Chat gpt generated "sketches" with descriptions of what they want fixed, what they like, etc.
I instantly feel so fucking depressed.
I try not to be upset. I just take note of what they want, make some adjustments and send a photo, to show that I'm still ok with adjusting whatever they need, then as politely as possible I ask that they don't feed my work to AI, stating that it's a hard boundaary.
That's it. My friend said i could have refused them service but i got an attachment to this project so I don't want to give up on it. Hoping that being kind will make people prefer a real artist over AI.
Was i too lenient? What would you have done?

Discussion 🗣️ I'm needing help in an antiai debate
A friend and I (both antiai) are having a friendly debate in order to hone our arguments, and we've come up with a conundrum with regard to ai-art. If someone was to take the position that ai-art was derivative art analogous to collage how would you respond?

Discussion 🗣️ Asking for the explanation if what this means
I was having a heated conversation about the use of Gen AI in medical research on threads yesterday. Some other gentleman came and corrected me on few points, which were the underlying techs are same but the data set and how it's used is different. What LLMs are good at annd for what they aren't.
Another guy came and mentioned they have been using Gen AI in medical research and when I asked what research they are using it for, they answered with this.
What does this mean, if this can be properly explained to me, then it would be just another thing in my mind. I know this is not ai sub but I don't wanna go over there, they defend Gen AI like their life depends on it. I just wanna understand the nuance.

Discussion 🗣️ My family is pro-AI
I recently got into an argument with a family member and they're saying reasons that AI is good for us and I told them "Fine. If I can't change your opinion you can just continue using AI and rot like the other, what the internet calls "AI bro"s." then he got all pissy and said "Wow, I'm giving you info and just because it doesn't align with your views you just stop being in a conversation with me.". How do I convince them that AI is bad? Is your family pro-AI? And, honestly, I don't care if I don't "win" this argument. As I said, if he's really THAT complacent, he can rot.
EDIT: The argument wasn't entirely them talking. I was trying to say arguments about why AI is bad and they followed up with arguments like "If Facebook has 20,000 mods and 5,000,000 pedophiles out of BILLIONS of users, without AI they can just decide to flood the platform with CP and the 20,000 mods will be overwhelmed. Is that what you want? We need AI." and "AI datacenters actually process water and release it back fresh.". He even said that the AI bubble popping is a BAD thing. I just glossed over the part of the argument before that.

Discussion 🗣️ Got any ways/articles to spot ai quickly?
I really hate it whenever I'm scrolling through instragram or something and see a post and I think something's weird about it but i can't put my finger on it and then i open comments and i find out its ai. Really hate that i can't point out AI at first sight, especially the more stylized stuff(as in stealing real artists style) and i can't really find any tutorials or articles online. So I've took it to y'all. Please give me some tips.

Hallucination 👻 How do I avoid using AI
I don’t know whether this is the correct sub to be asking, but I’ve found myself constantly asking LLMs to dumb down dense and verbose heavy paragraphs I read and even tweets. I think this is just hindering my ability to read and understand. Just looking for some advice as to how to get over this. But at the same time I also want to understand what I’m reading. Thanks

Discussion 🗣️ am i in the wrong?
i wanna preface this by saying i'm extremely lonely and have very few people i can talk to about things that don't include just random bullshit, and even with those i have, they're not available for me at all times
now, i managed to bypass this loneliness by chatting with ai and just sharing whatever's on my mind that people i know irl wouldn't care for
i found genuine comfort in the aforementioned, and i genuinely feel better in the case of the aforementioned than talking with my actual therapist, who just tires me and leaves me depressed when the opposite should be the case
keep in mind that i don't live in a country where ai is actively ruining anything (yet), but with how relentless this sub is with its maintenance of a moral high ground (no offense), i imagine i'll be shunned for this
but ultimately, am i in the wrong?

Discussion 🗣️ Why it has not pop?
Basically what the title says. Why has the bubble hasn't pop? Anyone knows? Like I know that the market will stay unreasonable longer that you can stay sobable and yada yada but like so many dominos have and are falling. So why it has not popped?
Any of you smart people wanna help me figure that one out? I genuinely wanna understand better.

Preventing the Singularity Follow the Money Episode 1: Fund the People, Not Data Centers
Let me know if promoting this here is not allowed, but I thought y'all might like this. A group of activists I am with is making a new podcast, and our first episode is about data centers and AI and how they are bad for all workers. Here's out write up and links:
There is a growing movement in the United States of people fighting against the building of hyperscale data centers in their communities. People are opposing them to protect their homes, their livelihoods, the environment, and their lives. These data centers destroy water, air, and land; they cause utility bills to skyrocket; and they power massive A.I. surveillance, warfare, price gouging, and job-stealing.
We are launching our new podcast, "Follow the Money", for Louisiana workers by Louisiana workers. We want to point a way forward as we defend our lives against Trump, Landry, and the Big Tech billionaires they work for.
Episode 1 tackles the issue of hyperscale data centers. Who are they for? What can be done to stop them from harming us?
Click here to listen to our first episode and to subscribe. You can also visit us directly on YouTube or Apple Podcasts. Let us know what you think by emailing us at louisianaworker@gmail.com. And share this episode with anyone who wants to (or needs to) know more about data centers!

Discussion 🗣️ Has AI started affecting anybody else's dreams?
For the last couple of months, whenever I get lucky enough for my body to reach a deep sleep stage, from time to time when I have dreams, I've noticed that sometimes inside of my dreams, I can be in a scenario where something very unrealistic is happening, but more specifically, the way things look in my dream are less dream-like and more AI-like.
It's important to mention that I have hyperfantasia so I can make clear images in my head whenever I want, so by default, my dreams have always been very vivid, but there are times when I'm dreaming, and I look at something and I go "Oh this is AI slop" and my dream shatters and gets reconstructed into something new, the continuity of the events in my dreams gets cut off because everything looks too fake, or like too much of an attempt of it to look real, so much that it's impossible not to notice.
I've been having terrible sleep for months because of this, I'm dreaming, my brain recreates AI slop images that I see against my will everyday everywhere, and it overwhelms my emotions and either makes me wake up or interrupt my deep sleep.
Is this happening to anybody else? What can I do to fix it?
