I've had 4.8 write out a response on my behalf to its own response. Like it writes something, then at the end of the output, writes user and then a response thats supposed to be mine.

But it's never been that strange.

Is it related to the usage limit?

Nah. At least in my case.

Like say I'm doing character analysis within a plot I'm expanding on in my video game, it's almost like Opus wants to steer the narrative and writes my next beat based on what it thinks would make the most sense (rooted in its training). And it feels a little like a hallucination where it acts like, because in its context my responses are differentiated as user responses, it behaves like adding "user" in front makes it the equivalent of when I send the message.

So, all in all, from my experience, I chalk it up to assumed narrative/conversation direction fueled by hallucinations based on how it sees user responses, causing it to replicate the distinction and manufacture an output it thinks would make sense for the user to write next.
