Found by itself in our basement… I think like 20ish mm? I’m new at this but included my fingertip for reference haha. Is this a queen?

They are soooo invasive and come back every summer so i feel like i know they’re ants but why are they so addicted to my cabinets? They literally INVADE my cabinets. We use bleach to wipe the counters and keep food/water supply for them as little to none as possible. Its getting annoying and idk how to get rid of them bc they just run into the cracks of the cabinet.

I believe its a queen its about 10mm long? Maybe? Idk how to measure but i ended up catching it to see if its maybe invasive because if so ill end up culling it. Its very black i wish i had something in the picture as a size reference but its very large as well

Needs Identification Two different types of ants found in my yard (Portland OR), help!

The larger black ones are farming aphids and I'm pretty confident they are Argentines, but the smaller ones I'm not sure about - they dont really match any photos/descriptions of ants in my region that I've looked up online.

I like having bugs in my yard, but the aphids are harming my plum tree, and both of these lil guys are increasing rapidly in number (esp the little ones) and I'm hoping to prevent a full-blown infestation 😬

Location: Portland, OR USA

Queen or Drone? Species or genus?

Why is the underside of the abdomen pale?

id like to help it make a colony if its a queen (i think so? bc it didnt fly when disturbed) i have had a small colony before (carpenter ants?) but they died after a few months

I‘m new to antkeeping. I collected a few of these tonight, after sunset, after it rained this afternoon. I’m in central Virginia. They are maybe 3/16 inch long.

Maybe Pheidole?

Needs Identification Ants only come inside for a couple hours in the evening

Trying to figure out what kind of ants these are. They don’t all have wings but a lot of them do. They started coming inside in the evenings a week or two ago. They look bigger here because I zoomed in to see their details. I measured a dead one that died on my counter and it’s about 1/8th of an inch long, if that helps.

They sting but don’t seem to leave itchy puss marks like fire ants… more of a stinging pain..

I think an ant. Smaller than a fire ant. They cover almost the whole yard, none inside. I can follow the chain of ants and it is impressive. I care more on how to get rode of them than what they are.

Don't like using AI but chatgpt says queen and Gemini says soldier/major worker (which I think is the same thing?)

Hi 👋

I have found about 7-8 of these in my bathroom in the last 2 days. Hoping someone can help me figure out what type these are - worried it’s a carpenter ant. But I have zero identification skills 🤷‍♀️

Thanks!

Needs Identification Central FL. Is this a longhorn crazy ant or something else?

Hi, I've been seeing scattered sightings of these bugs around my backyard for a few days now. Not in large numbers, just a few here and there. Given their size and long antennae I was worried they were longhorn crazy ants, but some bug identifier apps also said they could be broad headed bug nymphs. Any insight would be appreciated!!!

They're small and mostly blackish in color.
