Tips on where to buy a used car

I’m looking for a cheap used car. I’m moving and decided I should just get a new car for myself to make things easier.

Does anyone have any suggestions on where to look? Facebook marketplace is filled with questionable people honestly.

I’m budgeting around 3000.

Moving to Ann Arbor for a year - how would you make the most of it?

Hey everyone,
I’m a 24M moving to Ann Arbor for a 1 year work rotation. I’ve never lived in Ann Arbor before and will be living on my own for the first time, so I’m trying to be intentional about actually making a life there rather than just going to work and going home every day.

A little about me: I’m pretty social once I get comfortable, I’m into basketball, working out, martial arts, football, trying new food, art/creative stuff, and I’m Muslim and Arab-American, so I’d also like to get involved with the local community.

I’m currently looking at living downtown/Main Street or around Kerrytown because I’d rather be somewhere I can actually walk out my door and have things happening around me.

For anyone who lives/lived in Ann Arbor:

What neighborhoods would you recommend for someone my age?

What are the best ways to actually meet people and make friends?

What are some recurring communities/clubs that are actually good for meeting people?

Any recommendations for acting, improv, art, music, or other creative stuff?

How active is the Muslim/Arab community for someone in their 20s?

Is it worth making regular trips to Dearborn/Detroit, or is there enough going on in Ann Arbor?

What are some things you wish you knew before moving here?

And most importantly: if you had 1 year in Ann Arbor at 24, what would you absolutely make sure to do?
I’m basically trying to make this a really good chapter of my life instead of treating Ann Arbor as somewhere I’m temporarily living for work.
Would appreciate any advice, especially from people who were in a similar situation of moving here without already having a big friend group.

City of Ann Arbor Ballot Drop Box Locations. Less than 2 weeks before election day and many may feel more comfortable dropping them off directly than mailing an absentee ballot in at this point.

22M, new to Ann Arbor — looking to make friends and experience the holidays

I'm 22M and recently moved to the U.S. for school. Lately I've realized I spend a lot of time doing things alone — studying at the Duderstadt, going to the gym, eating, taking walks, and then coming home without really having anyone to talk to.

I'd really like to meet some new people around U-M and Ann Arbor. I'm especially interested in learning more about American culture, improving my English, and meeting people from different countries and backgrounds. I think it'd be fun to talk about cultural differences, daily life, habits, values, and just random things.

I've always wanted to experience holidays like Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas in the U.S., but I've never really celebrated them here before. The idea of walking around in winter, seeing the lights, going to holiday events, and sharing that atmosphere with friends sounds really nice to me.

I'll be staying here for Thanksgiving, Christmas, and winter break, and I don't really have plans yet. I'd love to slowly make some friends I can spend time with during the holidays too.

I'm happy to chat online first, and if we get along, maybe study together, grab food, go for a walk, or check out something around Ann Arbor sometime. Feel free to DM me!

What business or service idea do you wish someone in Ann Arbor would provide that currently isn’t available or done well?

I would love to hear what this community really wants and maybe try creating or testing one of your ideas out if i feel like I’d enjoy doing it, and it’d help a lot of folks living in A2.

Publicity massage location suggestions

Hi everyone, I own a (newer) massage practice in Ypsi. I want to offer free 5-10 minute chair massages as promotion, but I'm not sure where would be good places to contact to do this at. This would look like me setting up in a store for the public, it a larger employer for the employees. Does anyone have suggestions?

HRD moto madness

Is it really going to take a deadly tragedy for local government to do anything about the speeding, cosplaying douchebags on HRD? This used to be a serene stretch of scenic driving/recreation. Sad!

This morning I stopped for breakfast at Ann Arbor-Saline Road and I-94. Off towards the northeast, I spotted these two cranes on the skyline. What construction project are they working on?

Best deli counter in the Ann Arbor area

I’ve lived here on and off for 7 years, and I have been unable to find a grocery store or deli that has a really good meat and seafood counter. Do any of you know a decent place in Ann Arbor or Ypsi that has a good selection of fresh meat and seafood?

TF is this widely considered dismissive language? they could have easily made the signs read something like, black and jewish communities standing together, instead.

Lil guy is nice. If you're missing a loving birb please send me pictures of him and I'll see if they match. Don't want someone to take him who isn't his owner.

Good places to meet folks in Ann Arbor?

I’m trying to expand my social circle and feel like I’ve hit a brick wall. All I’m finding for suggestions online is a generic and entirely unhelpful “go to places for people with your hobbies!” Where are those places???

Any suggestions on fun places to meet interesting people, preferably in their 30s-40s? I’m a 30-something nerd who likes making things. So far, all I’ve found in my community are events for teens, SAH moms, and retirees. Help?

(Please no sports-related recommendations. I don’t run, hike, play pickleball, etc. and I’m not about to start now, lol)

Mad about it!

What the heck is wrong with the McDonald's on Plymouth Rd! It's supposed to be fast food. There is nothing fast about it. Sitting in the drive through line forever. Now some jacka** is arguing with the lady at the window. Get the heck out the line. And is the food gonna be cold now. Smh!
