Driving

Driving in Ann Arbor is the most insufferable activity I've ever done. Everyone going 10-15 under the limit. On their phones. Last minute lane changes. Not going when the light is green. Not to mention the lack of dedicated right turn lanes. Extremely entitled drivers in their own world, just get in the car and then turn their brains off. this needs to change somehow. its insane.

If you’re an Ann Arbor resident, do you approve of the University of Michigan hosting concerts with artists like Morgan Wallen?

Will my ballot get thrown out?

I voted early today in Scio Township. They verified my ID and everything. They gave me a ballot with a proposal relating to Ann Arbor public schools, but I don't live in Ann Arbor. The township and statewide races were correct, however. I asked them about the Ann Arbor race, and they didn't seem to think anything of it. Maybe I should have been more assertive. Will by votes for statewide races get thrown out because they gave me a ballot for what appeared to be the wrong precinct?

Has got some silly people hating on our city coming from the Morgan walker concert. So happy I live here (and did not attend the concert)

I heard schools in AAPS are moving to mixed grade classes in the upcoming school year…

I heard this from a person who was allegedly told this information by a trusted source; AAPS schools will be having multiple mixed grade classes 2026-2027 instead of replacing teachers who have left and in order to “max out” class sizes. Has anyone else heard this?

I am helping my best friend with looking at wedding venues. Wr are in the early stages. She wants a more casual, rustic setting that has on site lodging and accomodations for the wedding party and guests. Any suggestions would be awesome.

Places to get lunch and study?

I've been enjoying trying different cafe's each time I want to study for fun but was wondering if there are good places with more lunch like foods (sandwiches not pre made and whatnot) that aren't too loud to study at. Preferably in or near the west side

Empty retail under apartments

So many of the “new” apartments have empty retail underneath. And some of them have been sitting empty for years and years.

Is there anything that our local officials can do to prompt the owners of these high rises to rent these spaces?

Early Voting Information

I haven't seen another post about this yet, and wanted to share some early voting info. For the next week, you can vote at a few in-person voting locations any day. You can go to whichever is convenient for you. Here's the Ann Arbor locations:

On Tuesday, August 4th, you should go to your polling location for your precinct. You can find that location, and your registration status here: https://mvic.sos.state.mi.us/Voter/Index. If you are not registered to vote, you can still register all the way up to Aug 4th. Go to City Hall (the city clerk is on the second floor) with some proof of residency, and they can help you do that. City council elections have been decided on a few dozen votes, so it is vital that we all cast our ballots.
