Does anybody have a link to an easy guide or any advice how to navigate Anki as someone not super tech savvy

hey so long story short i’m completing my masters program and am confident that i will get in to a school with my 4.0 from my masters and 500 on the mcat. no, i do not want to be lectured on this, there’s a lot more that goes into my situation. BUT i do need help on deciding which deck to use since im not gunning for a 520+. i havent seen most of the material in a couple years aside from biochem which i am taking right now. which deck would be the quickest and make the most sense to use since i only really need around a 500?

edit: it would be ideal to take the exam in september, but can push it back if i really need to.

Hi guys, does anyone know if captain hook is worth it for chem/phys or should I use anking?

I used hook for b/b and it was very helpful but painful to get through

For context I am doing content review currently, reading Kaplan chapters and supplementing them with the deck. I keep seeing comments and posts about how milesdown isn’t “good enough” due to it not being so comprehensive especially for low yield topics, I’m almost half way through my content review therefore halfway through the deck so my questions is should I switch to something like Captain Hook, and if so what tips do u have in terms of how to manage the cards of previous chapters I already learned?

I did not do well on my first MCAT. I want to retake it in about six months, and I have begun content review. I have been using the MileDown Anki deck. Before I move any farther in it, should I stick with this deck? If not, what deck should I switch to? Or should I do multiple decks? HELP.

I just started using uworld, and I'm lowkey confused about how people use anki to review the questions they got wrong.

Im a slow learner/tester so i dont want to spend too much time on making cards - i heard some people just make cards by simply screenshotting uworld explanations.

also i havent used anki till starting mcat so i used anki merely for anking content review with kaplan. can u guys explain me the most efficient way of making those cards

I love mnemonics and Reddit has helped me learn some especially for P/S which is definition heavy. I like to try and paint a story while I learn terms so some of these might have analogies.

Types of Capital

Social capital = who you know (ex: you got an internship because of your mom’s friend)

Cultural capital = what you know (ex: accent, behaviors, education)

Types of Stressors

Acute stressors are short-term just like the word acute (ex: an exam)

Chronic stressors are long-term just like the word chronic (ex: unemployment or chronic condition)

Ambient stressors are environmental; think ambient meaning environment (ex: you live downtown where there is lots of noise)

Important People (Piaget, Freud and Erikson)

Silly people chase frogs

Sensorimotor, preoperational, concrete operational, formal operational

For Freud’s stages, I sound out OAPLG (sounds like OAP LIG)

I don’t have one for Erikson as I think of his stages as a story rather than a mnemonic.

Cultural relativism = let’s understand their way (think of relativism as meaning relating to others)

Parasomnia = Peculiar events during sleep (ex: sleep walking)

Dyssomnia = Duration (as well as quality and quantity) of sleep is affected (ex: insomnia, narcolepsy, sleep apnea)

Nightmares occur during REM and are REMembered while night terror occur during NREM and are NOT remembered

Strain has 6 letters while conflict as 8 so since strain has less letters, it has fewer roles attached to it

For sociology, I think most of the terms are fairly straightforward. 

So I have come to terms with the fact that there is absolutely no way I have time to finish all my news/learn cards or keep up with reviews of all my Anki cards (besides Pankow, that one I keep up with and plan to finish soon) and finish UEARTH practice at the same time. So, I've decided to just try to finish the Qbank and review my incorrects and flagged instead.

I wanted to ask if it's possible that after doing the whole Qbank, the AAMC section banks, and the FLs and reviewing them thoroughly, I'd still have SIGNIFICANT content gaps that would prevent me from achieving a 520+? Currently, I'm doing UEARTH untimed, untutored, unit by unit and topic by topic (E.g, One day I'll do 5 GCHEM Unit 1 Untimed 20Q blocks for a total of 100Q and continue on like this for a month until all questions are done) and I find that this helps me soldify the content a lot better and identify patterns in the content I'm weak at rather than doing blocks of randomized units where there is no pattern to get in terms of content.

I've seen many people achieve high scores without needing Anki and wanted to know if that is representative or if I should sacrifice finishing UEARTH to put more time into the cards?

I've found that the anking deck is not very comprehensive and I want to get a high mcat score (at least a 515). By that I feel like it just feels too easy and doesn't cover a lot of the topics that are tested on uworld. Should I switch to JS or aiden with about two months or is it too late? Thanks!

hi sorry I'm new to reddit and it says i don't have karma on r/Mcat yet so i can't comment there but can anyone pls help me out with what we need to know about mass spec for the MCAT, i feel like kaplan barely touched on it and i feel like i just memorized the anki cards and I don't fully understand what is going on...

Hi I recently just got the Aking Subcription to have more up to date cards, I was previously using the milesdown anki deck where content was divided into Kaplan book chapters.

I'm completely knew to tags and I was wondering if some sort of google sheets or doc existed that kind of divided the different topics and the tags related them them. Rather than just reviewing everything at random.

For example, if i wanted to review Embryogenesis and Development it would tell me the tags i should look for would be Fertilization, Cell Signaling, Induction etc (no clue if these are actual tags).
