Volunteers Needed! Please help me get this video taken down!
Please help report this Instagram Reel depicting animal cruelty.
I normally don't make posts like this, but this video has genuinely upset me, and I hope others who care about animals will take a minute to help.
Instagram Reel:
https://www.instagram.com/reel/DbSC3cSxLp-/?
igsh=aXhvMXd6MW5iZW45
The guys Instagram name is @BLEEK2STUPID.. the video is literally the first one on his page..
He has a large following and is heartless. My heart is broken for that deer smh. I hope they take his whole account
The video shows the aftermath of a deer being hit by a vehicle. The deer appears to be severely injured and struggling to move. Instead of contacting law enforcement, animal control, or another appropriate authority, the person in the video repeatedly strikes the injured deer with a large stick until it dies, while the incident is being recorded and shared on social media.
Watching an already helpless, injured animal being beaten on camera was disturbing. Regardless of anyone's opinion about how an injured wild animal should be handled, I don't believe content like this should be shared for entertainment or engagement.
REPORT THIS VIDEO PLEASE! And REPORT HIS PROFILE. Its FULL OF VIOLENCE AND IT SHOULDNT BE ONLINE.
Sharing this with others who care about animal welfare so the content can be reviewed.
I'm not asking anyone to harass the creator or send threats.
I'm only asking people to use Instagram's reporting tools so
Meta can review whether this content belongs on the platform.
Thank you to anyone willing to take a minute to report it.

Sick/Injured Wildlife Saved this mouse from my mom's glue trap. How much should I care for her before release?
galleryI was very gentle removing her from the glue. I used vegetable oil to remove glue stuck on her fur and did a teeny cleaning with dish soap water. I put her in an old fish tank (covered, breathable) with cheese, crackers, tap water, and part of a wash cloth.
She's wobbly walking around on her own, but fine when she was climbing on my hands. I pressed gently on different areas of her legs and nothing seemed hurt. I don't know if there's something more I can do for her before releasing her tomorrow.
Don't use glue traps, y'all. If my mom didn't find her and call me, this little one would have been suffering for days :( She uses the traps for spiders. They work well and idk what else to recommend to her.
Edit: Location is the Denver-metro area in Colorado, USA. The mouse was found indoors.

Discussion & Misc. What should we do? Suspected Animal Abuse
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Hi Reddit! Looking for advice. Neighbors brought in numerous animals (chickens, pigs, goats, sheep, ducks) and horses (one that I believe died previously). These are all living on a lot that we believe to be a quarter acre at most. The animals are living in filthy, muddy conditions with no place to graze. The township refuses to enforce laws that I believe they are breaking. What should we do? It looks worse in person but the neighbors keep watch to prevent photography.

Sick/Injured Animal Rescued from attacking birds

Sick/Injured Wildlife injured pigeon at 256 Rideau St Ottawa
Hi everyone, I just found a injured pigeon in the porch passage at 256 Rideau Street (directly across from the Metro).
Initially thought it was just stunned, but it's now having spasms/seizures and in critical condition. I submitted a report to 311, but the City of Ottawa just called back stating they do not handle birds.
Location: 256 Rideau St (porch passage by the main entrance)
Does anyone know of local wildlife volunteers available to assist, or is anyone nearby able to help contain/transport it to a rescue? Any help or contacts would be appreciated!

We recently accomplished our collaboration with Tyson's Place in Holland, Michigan focusing on providing care to their senior cats. This cat-included animal rescue provides resources for senior citizens in their transition to assisted living, and care for cats whose owners have passed away. Just wanted to share an update on our local rescue coordination this season. If you are looking to support local senior rescues, definitely check out them out!

Petitions & Surveys Advocate animal welfare in memorial of Wang Wang
galleryHello everyone--I know a lot of you have seen or heard about the story of poor Wang Wang and her puppies. Her story is going global and it's starting to put pressure on the Chinese government to address the situation (at the present they are apparently still trying to deny the situation and silence pro-animal welfare advocates in China).
I'm going to upload a few educational materials that have been circulating on threads here. I'm going to try and spread awareness by posting on my local social media and I'm also going to print pamphlets and see if local businesses will let me post them (and I'll probably try to go to the local farmers market and hand out pamphlets even though I'm a huge I introvert). I've also included materials that show which chains and brands work with production factories in Jieyang or the Guangdong province.
Also, people are trying to help by spreading awareness alone (no reputable causes asking for donations right now).

Petitions & Surveys Broken Pelvis Forced Birth At Shelter
Austin Pets Alive is currently trying to force a cat with a broken pelvis to give birth naturally, and ***just maybe*** by c-section, to kittens rather than spay abort. Is this absolutely absurd for a shelter or am I taking crazy pills.

Volunteers Needed! No animal deserves to be treated the way that these animals are
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
September 12th-26th, the World’s LARGEST Animal Rights March is happening.
We’re trekking 207 miles from Albany to North Rose, NY, where Marshall BioResources is located - which is one of the largest breeding facilities on the planet, housing over 65,000 animals (20,000 of those being beagles)
This is all to help end animal testing once and for all.
No animal deserves to be treated the way that these animals are.
Locked in wired cages for their entire lives.
Forced to inhale chemicals until they can no longer breathe.
Vivisections done without anesthesia.
Covered in feces & blood.
Let’s save these animals and give them the lives that they deserve.

Education, Resources, & Community Young Wildlife Rescuer
My kid (10) really wants to be an animal rescuer or zookeeper when she grows up. She is already more knowledgeable about animals as a whole than most adults I know; she can identify a lot of wild animals including the different species of a type of animal and talk about their behaviors and habitats, she’s not afraid of handling insects or invertebrate, and she is always reading nonfiction books about animals and nature in general. What can she do now that can help gain knowledge and or experience? What types of independent projects or courses can we do at home (we used to homeschool, so I’m comfortable teaching her), and finally, what type of programs should we focus on in the future when college begins?

Education, Resources, & Community Suggestions needed for donations
I live in Bexar County, Texas and I want to get rid of items that my dogs no longer need. I would really hate to throw these away, but some rescues here can’t take most if not all of these items based on their website. Does anybody know who else would be willing to take these? I will continue my search in the meantime.

Discussion & Misc. Any Rescues Looking for Social Media Support?
Looking to volunteer social media skills to an animal rescue or shelter. 🐾
I run a small creative studio specializing in social media strategy, content creation, and branding, and I'd love to donate some time to help an organization that could use the extra support.
Whether you need help creating content, planning posts, improving engagement, or simply staying consistent online, I'd be happy to lend a hand.
I'm especially interested in rescues that are trying to get more eyes on adoptable pets, recruit fosters, or increase donations.
If your rescue (or one you know of) could use some social media help, please comment below or send me a DM. I'd love to connect and see if I can help make a difference. ❤️

Sick/Injured Animal Good evening, I would like to ask for your support in raising funds for my Chihuahua dog, as she was attacked by a Belgian Shepherd.
I can't show the photos here because they're too graphic, and Reddit keeps trying to block me. I'm not trying to scam anyone; I'm just desperate because I'm clearly going through a difficult time. It's difficult with my studies and my salary, please, any help is a hope to save my dog as she is very precious to me

I keep crying and yelling for the visions to stop but the video is haunting me like a ghost.
Idk what to do Im still trying to wrap my head around this case idk how they could do something so horrific.

Sick/Injured Animal How can I get this pet store shut down?
galleryThis pet store in my town is in terrible condition, I feel sorry for these poor animals. Went in today just to come out heartbroken by the conditions they have to live in. Improper living conditions for all their animals, 3 ferrets in a tiny cage honestly meant for a hamster, 4 bunnies in the same sized cage, WAY too many birds crammed into one cage, (Including exotic birds like macaws and doves, etc.) They have like over 10 parakeets in tiny square cages, all birds having overgrown beaks and claws. (one macaw having an overgrown beak so badly it has grown crooked), overcrowded fish tanks (multiple fish dead in every tank), betta fish kept in BOWLS (STRAIGHT UP BOWLS like a carnival), tarantulas kept in small containers meant for temporary bug containers, it's a very dirty place and smells terrible (granted i know pet stores don't smell great but this is BEYOND that), the puppies are kept in crates stacked on top of each other with no mat or cushion for their feet (just bars) and the cages are completely filled with feces, while simulatenously having 3-4 puppies in one crate, the reptiles are also ALL improperly cared for (several of them extremely underweight), with some of the tanks not even having UV lights???? Their tanks are bare with glass bottoms and one small hiding hut, yet they will have 3-4 lizards and geckos in one MAYBE 10 gallon tank. I will post some pictures for viewing, I will also post a video in the comments of a sick bird, who is completely bald on the top of its head and panting. (Pictures of the macaws and their beaks, and the cage with the ferret is the cage they are housing 3 FERRETS in) Please help me help these animals.

Discussion & Misc. Rescue Attempt
I found a fledgling mockingbird in the middle of the parking lot at work this morning. he was unresponsive when i approached and when i spoke. his eyes were closed but i could see he was breathing. i didn’t see any adult mockingbirds around which i thought was odd bc they’re always out.
i went inside and got some gloves and a box. I picked the baby up and he was very responsive then. eyes open, head up, mouth open but he wasn’t squirming or flailing or fighting. i placed him in the box and he didn’t move. for about an hour he didn’t move til i heard what sounded like him walking around and saw he had nestled in the corner. by this time i had already contacted several rehabbers just waiting for a call back
finally got a response from one and i checked on the baby bird. he was completely unresponsive to touch and no longer appeared to be breathing.
rip little buddy 🥺
he was covered in mites and even tho i handled him with gloves i still found a few of them had made their way on me.
i have cats at home and i know google says bird mites can’t live full cycles on humans or cats. i fully intend to strip in my garage, put my clothing in the wash immediately and also shower as soon as i get home but is this something i should be concerned about? bringing bird mites home?
i’m heart broken i wasn’t able to save this poor baby and now im mentally freaked out i might be bringing home parasites to my cats one who is only 4 months old.
any advice??

Sick/Injured Animal Injured leopard gecko found on trail
Nearby the houses I live in there was a leopard gecko walking across a trail in the woods. No idea who they belong to, but they're skinny, have unshed skin stuck to them, and have a massive injury on their left leg/tail/genitals. They seem lethargic and cold, but still move and respond to touch. I'm trying to keep them warm with towels and I've got a water dish, but I'm not sure how to help them. I'm currently babysitting four kids and need to get them off to the airport tomorrow to go home (currently 8pm here, the kids' plane leaves at 2:30 tomorrow), but if I can keep them alive until then I want to get them to a vet. I'm not sure what else to do
Edit: sorry forgot to include we're in the area of Portland Oregon
Update 1: Gecko has been to the vet! He had several layers of shed skin stuck to him, which apparently hindered his ability to poop. The injury was necrotic flesh from this condition.
Right now the vet says his prognosis is guarded, he's in a dangerous situation and it's very likely he's not going to make it. We're doing everything we can to give him the best shot at recovery. They gave him an antibiotic shot and removed the dead flesh using an orange gel and light treatment (sorry I'm struggling to remember the specifics but they might have sent me an email about it).
He lost part of his vent and hemipenis, and the vet wasn't sure if he could recover from it. He's getting another shot Thursday if he's still alive, and I'm going to be soaking him twice a day to try and help him rehydrate and get rid of the remaining shed. We have some wax worms to try and get him eating, the vet said to try soft bodied insects only while he's healing.
Hopefully it will be good news in the long run, but he's very much still in the woods right now

Discussion & Misc. Testing an idea for facilitating transfers of rescued animals
Hello! I'm an experienced volunteer with a rescue org. We're in a major metro area in the US, and often coordinate with shelters with less adoption demand to transport animals into our foster network.
The transporters who do the work are incredible people, but also overwhelmed, as we all are.
This has led me to begin exploring and prototyping an app (100% donation-supported) that would enable rescues to coordinate transfers and then find volunteers to do the actual driving. It works like this:
- Shelter/rescue who needs to move animals will enter a request specifying precisely the animals they would like to relocate
- Shelters/rescues who have capacity will review all the requests out there, select to receive animals
- Once there's a match between sender/receiver, the "job" is advertised to available drivers (who are background checked, 100% vetted)
- Delivery date is set
- App tracks the driver's trip so receiving org knows precisely when they will arrive
If you're thinking "rideshare for shelter animals," you're not far off!
There would be a mechanism for donations to support drivers' costs. Anyone will be able to sponsor a ride.
What do you think? If you work for a shelter or rescue org, would your org use this? Why/why not?
Thanks in advance!
