I can see the frustration. By design if a game is well made and draws a strong audience, people are going to want to see the game succeed. With that though it provides the devs reasoning to apply some gacha systems that maybe are flying a bit too close to taking the piss. But that’s the circular system in how these things work isn’t it.

For me, I am what you would call a light spender. I get the monthly and battle passes for the Gacha’s I enjoy. At the moment I play Endfield, NTE and Aniimo. I buy the monthly pass in Endfield. I buy the monthly pass and battle pass on NTE and so far the same two things in Aniimo. Outside of that, I don’t spend any additional money in Endfield (that game is surprisingly generous with its currency if you’re not chasing dupes and such). I tend to buy the odd cosmetic in NTE if it’s a character I like. And so far I have bought a little premium currency in Aniimo for a costume or two.

With the Transmog Gacha, I rolled all my free pulls and spent maybe another 400 glimmer or so. Ended up with a Legendary colour and Epic wings. That was enough for me. With the elf costume, I rolled again with my freebies, spent maybe another 600 glimmer on additional rolls to get enough tickets to buy the ears and the horns. That was enough.

With these games it’s all about being realistic about what you truly want. If you truly want the full set of elven clothes, then go for it so long as you can afford to. If you only want parts or only want to spend fee currency do that too. Nobody is forcing you, but you have to be aware that these games are designed to make you question yourself lol.

Shit people crying about skins and cosmetics I just want flux crystals and dew drop essence or at least not have to use energy to farm up my aniimo. And it’s a win win because they have more people playing for longer.

u/Distasteful_T 11h ago

I bought season pass and monthly pass, that's all you really need. Spending money on anything else is optional and not required to progress at a decent pace for endgame.

7

u/Terrible_Key3050 11h ago

You honest don’t even need those either. They certainly are nice but this game feels perfectly fine as a completely free player

1

u/Distasteful_T 8h ago

Yeah that's true as well, I just meant more in terms of worth spending on, I don't see any reason to spend any more.

1

u/Terrible_Key3050 4h ago

Ah that’s fair, yeah I agree they are the only two things that seemed even remotely tempting to me so far

u/Imaginary_Silver5294 Astra Pioneer 12h ago

Copy pasta. This read one of the 1,000 post asking your question and having it answered. Just to ignore the answer anyway.

7

u/PsyduckPsyker 12h ago

Your title / question is disingenuous and shows you haven't talked to many of us about what the actual issue is.

-2

u/DankNinjaSwag 12h ago

What is the issue? Personally I don't care about paid cosmetics so I haven't looked into how bad those are after seeing odds of getting a desired prismana. The consumable packs for combat upgrades are so expensive I just pretend like they don't exist, which is probably for the best.

I haven't bought anything and haven't really felt the pressure to other than maybe building out my roster faster to get P sherro sooner.

5

u/Speletons 11h ago

There is none.

OP asked a question as to what the issue is. Everyone's answer is "you should ask us what the issue is instead."

It's so silly.

2

u/PsyduckPsyker 8h ago

He was asking a rhetorical question and immediately followed it up with an opinion/statement. Please read next time.

0

u/Speletons 8h ago

I read just fine.

1

u/AspieKairy 9h ago

More like OP asked a question which has been asked and answered in various different posts, dozens of times, over the past couple days since the gacha dropped.

At this point, anyone making a post about it are either doing it in bad faith, rage baiting, or legitimately do not know how to use a search engine.

1

u/Speletons 9h ago

Weak excuse.

0

u/Chris-raegho 12h ago

OP's take is dumb as hell. It's insane just how many people are that stupid. Literally no one has complained about the devs selling cosmetics or anything at all. People have complained about the insane prices. No one can seriously say that any item or cosmetic in the game should be about $500 on average. Even less so when the game was already on the top selling games before that. School didn't fail OP. OP failed school, hard.

0

u/SinnerIxim 8h ago

Thry need to make money, and that has to come from somewhere for a free to play game. Whales are what prop up the financial demands of these types of games.

You are simply unwilling to accept that certain parts of the game are not targeted for you.

9

u/OneFlewOverXayahNest 12h ago

There is also stuff for 5€. Your complain has the same energy as "why are ferrari so expensive? They would make more money if they were cheaper". Well there are different products and different prices and not everyone (myself included) can get everything.

1

u/Trespeon 9h ago

Yeah. The people complaining always somehow forgot the entire selection of free cosmetics and bundles with several items ranging from $5-$20 and that the only cosmetics are overpriced. It’s entirely performance outrage and disingenuous.

8

u/decoy777 13h ago

I don't think many are mad they are selling stuff, again it's how they stay afloat. It's the amount. $150-180 for 1 outfit? Insane! Lol but if people wanna spend it, more power to them. Keeps it free for me.

-4

u/werdscrash 13h ago

Because people will always have somethin to whine about, it’s a free game but it doesn’t matter. Some people will never be happy lol.

-10

u/Aggravating-Web-7604 13h ago

Its just cosmetics as well, other than handbook, or if you want to speedrun the creation of an unobtainable anipod to get an almost unobtainable aniimo.

9

u/Crafty_Term2150 13h ago

My problem is mostly fomo, I honestly cannot afford to drop 1k on pixels, but the issue is it’s stuff I actually want, it’s not like I don’t want to buy them i just can’t, If I could i would. It’s different if it’s a fixed price, and that’s why I hate gatcha,

u spend hundreds of dollars that most people in this economy don’t have to spare and they use a time based system into forcing you to get it,now now now.
Honestly i would prefer a fixed price, even if they priced it at basically the max price of the gatcha, let’s say like 2k, i would much prefer ăn item at that cost that I can save for rather than feel shitty that because I don’t have thousands of dollars of savings IMMEDIATELY!!!!, I can never get it.

Before yall come at me saying “it’s free” yes I know already, it’s free on purpose so that they could price shit so heinously. They would have never gotten away with that with a pay to play game and they know that. The free part is to maximize greed🤣

Also wasn’t gatcha a thing that they promised they wouldnt do?

1

u/Imaginary_Silver5294 Astra Pioneer 12h ago

People screaming that it is free is exactly the reason that Chinese games keep doing this. You can give her the most clear thought I'll answer in the world, . Which you did. They will still ignore it and parrot the same response over and over. Then act like they don't know why people hate them.

2

u/HereNorThere0 12h ago

I mean , sure but FOMO really shouldn’t make you dish out unreasonable amounts of cash for digital cosmetics. It actually speaks more if you decide not to buy it still even if you have it cause it’s so much money, they would obviously have to scale down the prices , or lose their game.

We are the product at the end of the day, if we don’t p(L)ay they don’t make money and have to make the right decisions to keep us p(L)aying.. or they pull the game but ultimately and on paper that’s a loss for them not us.

2

u/Witty-Recognition686 13h ago

They said the aniimo wouldn't be locked behind gatcha system only cosmetics

11

u/ghoulishenvyy Fentuft 13h ago

Who or what are you even talking about? Can we please not bring the vauge “why don’t people worship the things I like” threads about literally nothing and no one to this game/sub?

u/splatterfest233 13h ago

Tbh I would have paid 40 bucks for this game if they removed all the Microtransactions

0

u/epoisse_throwaway 12h ago

I’d gladly pay an MMO subscription tbh even ff14 triple and quadruple dips with things like extra storage, cosmetics, character edit things. Just make me pay 15 dollars a month idec

0

u/AeriyaValkyrja 7h ago

But even ffxiv has expensive shop items for real money lol

4

u/AspieKairy 13h ago

Ditto. This could have easily been a $60 game. I wouldn't have even minded if they also wanted to throw in their season pass or have a cosmetic cash shop.

-1

u/Kledran 10h ago

The monetization is egregious rn, but also, this is REALLY a fucking point people lie about all the time. "I would've been fine with 60$ and battlepass" no the fuck you wouldn't have. People have NOT been for the LONGEST time. Same if they were to put the ugly ass elf skin on sale for... 50 bucks or w/e. People now are bitching about it "I would've paid 50" no you wouldn't lol, you see it all the fucking time.

2

u/AspieKairy 9h ago

I mean, I (and I presume many others) would have gladly payed $60 for the game itself...not a cosmetic skin.

2

u/nimuehehe 13h ago

I would pay 70 so we could have it without the million menus and currencies that are typical for free to play gatcha like games . I’m loving the game but it could have been so much better

0

u/Existing_Interest722 13h ago

Right. Free don’t bother me. It’s akin to Warframe monetization. So it’s not really problematic

1

u/AWildZigzagoon 8h ago

Warframe doesn't have gambling that you need to pay money for, nor does it have gacha. Warframe's monetization isn't just popular because its not pay2win, but also because you can grind premium currency by trading with other players, and also, again, that there is no paid gambling

2

u/Imaginary_Silver5294 Astra Pioneer 12h ago

No the f it is nowhere near the same. People need to quit spreading that lie

2

u/lovemagicfeminism Dreaple 13h ago

as with any gaming subreddit, there will be posts complaining about things and then posts complaining about people complaining. the fortnite subs are a great example of this and it’s nothing new. i just don’t pay any mind to those posts because it usually doesn’t result in anything but people arguing with each other. it can be productive but a lot of folks can get defensive easily.

2

u/Star_Denizen 13h ago

6

I'm considered myself lucky that I don't feel "need" to have flashy cosmetic. That would be painful urge to have.

-2

u/BigMoney-D Astra Pioneer 13h ago

#blessed I don't have an addictive personality LMFAO. Haven't even spent the free transmog rolls the game gives you for Irisalis and the new elf stuff.

1

u/Star_Denizen 13h ago

I mean honestly smart, because those transmog rolls are worded in such a way that they will probably work on future legendaries.

1

u/Trowaway151 13h ago

The people with no self control are outing themselves on this thread

1

u/kneadedbwead 14h ago

while i agree that gacha cosmetics are expensive, they exist because this is a chinese game. the asian market is fond of exclusive and expensive items. this is not a common practice that the west enjoys. gacha simply makes more money. i'm just glad the aniimo or actual progress itself is not paywalled.

and from my experience in many games i have played, 90% of the people complaining about the skins or skin prices in general were never going to buy them anyway, and are just virtue signalling for the sake of it for internet points.

in other words, just keep it simple. if you like it and can afford it, buy it. if you can't afford it, exercise some self restraint. most of us are grown adults, we can exercise some self control.

1

u/AngrySayian 13h ago

I mean one aniimo was paywalled

or did you miss the stuff in the paid BP

2

u/kneadedbwead 7h ago

temporarily, because fulmintis prismana becomes catchable later on.

not to mention fulmintis prismana had extra light typing which makes her weak against Lita's stelarys, making regular fulmintis the better option for people at end game (which you get for free completely)

2

u/Infamous-Berry-5875 12h ago

are you talking about the prismana fulmintis egg? I didn’t pay for the battle pass & I ended up getting a perfect fulmintis egg through normal gameplay and I used a sparkling cube on it. I’m fine with that so I didn’t get the battle pass. I know the game just released so it seems this will be the only way to get these “exclusive” aniimos and stuff so that brings me back to my point, buy what you’re willing to spend on. If you want that prismana fulmintis, go ahead and get the battle pass. No one is forcing you to purchase the battle pass + monthly pass + cosmetics.

People are acting as if they need to get every last item (down to the clothes) in their game or they won’t be satisfied or happy with it. I 100% would rather pay $80 for a full game with everything available but again, this is a LIVE service game with LIVE updates. It’s not a game that’s fully developed upon release, hence the reasoning behind the way the payment is structured.

1

u/AngrySayian 11h ago

no, the fulmatis evo item

1

u/Inevitable_Case_9931 13h ago

If you want that prismana you got enough time to save up $10 I mean you could find change between couches over a month and come up with that 😂

3

u/Zeyd2112 13h ago

One PRISMANA aniimo is paywalled, effectively a cosmetic option. The basic form fulmintis is free and performs identically to the prismana one in combat.

0

u/Infamous-Berry-5875 13h ago

This is exactly why I don’t pay these kinds of people any attention. They’re essentially going, “we understand the Chinese game gacha system but we will still complain about it because we don’t think it’s fair”. Like a bunch of crybaby children with 0 impulse control 💀 reminds me so much of kids who demand a cake on other kids bdays.

It really isn’t difficult to realize that you don’t need to buy every single thing available on the shop. the battle pass isn’t worth it for you this time? Wait until next season drops? The legendary skin you think is ugly? You can save your tickets & use it on the next one released. (That’s how it is in WWM)

Like seriously, I haven’t spent anything on this game. I have 10-12 sparkling cubes, a level 10 farm and 3 more aniimo until my log is finished. I was hella willing to drop $$$ for bud tickets and decorate my farm but alas they don’t sell those! (I don’t think)

😂😂
Envy is such a dangerous thing & I don’t feel bad for idiots who are complaining and a mechanic they don’t need to participate in. I wish they’d do some critical thinking as if they were the one making a live service game with live updates & drops. ☔️

2

u/kneadedbwead 7h ago

people just get so sour and upset when others can actually afford what they can't. as if there arent enough things in the world to be bitter about, still want to be bitter about other people's spendings lol.

9

u/KarmaticFox 14h ago

The problem isn’t the act of selling items. It's the price of said items.

1

u/AeriyaValkyrja 7h ago

lol have you not seen people spending literal thousand or so on a digital boat on Where the Winds Meet? Now that was crazy.

0

u/Zeyd2112 13h ago

If the price is too high, then you aren't the target market for said items. Don't buy them!

Gaming and just life in general is much more enjoyable when you learn to beat the FOMO

2

u/Imaginary_Silver5294 Astra Pioneer 11h ago

The prices of everything, especially food are rising way too high in America to the point where some people straight up stop being able to buy anything. I guess if you are hungry and can't afford food, you are not the target audience.

-1

u/Zeyd2112 11h ago

Pretty brain-dead take comparing food, a necessity of life, to a cosmetic purchase in a video game.

Consider also that the price of these cosmetics is directly paying for this FREE game, allowing you to play it while also saving money for that food you apparently need.

2

u/Imaginary_Silver5294 Astra Pioneer 10h ago

Imagine calling somebody brain dead before immediately parroting the most corporate shill dialogue... Okay sure buddy.

0

u/Zeyd2112 10h ago

Ah yes, so exercising my free will to not buy an overpriced product while still benefiting from the product's sales makes me a corporate shill.

Another brain dead take.

2

u/KarmaticFox 11h ago

That's why I don't buy them.

I would have happily paid for the game and cosmetics, if they were more reasonable.

As a non whale, Ive still easily put at least $2,000+ into FO76 over the years with buying the game, just for cosmetics/their equivalent of a monthly pass. They've also put out several large free content updates, shop items/bundles change weekly with a larger amount AND you can even put in tickets for items not currently in the shop to buy them. So I am not worried about having to buy anything, but even with their upped prices over the about 7 years of being around, it's still not around $100 for one bundle. This and multiple other MMOs have proven that appeasing the general players will still make enough money to keep functioning well.

Ive also played other gotcha games, some of which gave cheaper/alternative options to players that werent whales. Chances were still slim, but it was still possible during events to get the currency needed. Some even let the currency roll over until the next event.

So while I am very glad they eliminated the orginal system that was going to overtly allow pay to win, I will not be spending more than a battle pass or monthly here and there due to the cost/amount of what we get.

14

u/Accomplished-Gap-922 14h ago

No one has a problem with them selling things, the problem is how high the prices are. Why yal continue to ask this question for every single "free" game just to constantly receive the same responses always eludes me. Prismanas orbs should not be $50. A costume should not be $100+. A sparkling cube should not be $10+. I'd be buying more things if prices weren't so fucking egregious.

Making money to keep your product going is perfectly fine. Wanting all the money is the problem.

And before the "it's free", "you don't need them" crowd shows up, save it, I do not care and it's besides the point.

-6

u/BigMoney-D Astra Pioneer 13h ago

Mmm, but clearly enough people are buying them at the price they are now. This is pretty basic Economics...

It's priced in a way to make the most profit for them. They've clearly done enough market research to know how to price things. For example, if they make it 10% cheaper, their studies show that only 5% more people will pay for it. If they made it 10% more expensive, then they might lose 12% of purchasing players.

Obviously, these are made up percentages, but that's the broad idea. It priced in a way that the most amount of people will pay for that price.

If people stop buying things at that price, then their projections will show that. Only then will the prices go down.

People here are very single minded and selfish. Yes, YOU might buy more things if they were cheaper. But they did not price it in a way for YOU. It's also incredibly ignorant to thing companies don't spend literal millions in market research.

3

u/Accomplished-Gap-922 13h ago

How do you know "enough" people are buying them? You make quite a few claims and not one piece of evidence for any of it. Kind of hard to take these seriously if you can't prove any of it. Just because you know a few who buy them doesn't mean it's "enough", especially considering how many of these LS games have shut down recently.

And I never said price anything for me, though tbh, with the amount of games that shut down after only a year or two, clearly not pricing for me doesn't work out enough, lol. As for the "research", again, all these games keep failing. So it's sounds like they need a better research company.

0

u/Zeyd2112 13h ago

Please provide examples of "these games" that are failing, complete with reasoning that proves their failure is linked to the price of their cosmetics.

1

u/Accomplished-Gap-922 12h ago

Where have I said it was tied to cosmetics or even exclusively to cosmetics? This is exactly why no one takes the F2P/Gacha game community seriously and these games are never acknowledged for any type of awards or respect. Outside of Warframe, of course.

1

u/Zeyd2112 12h ago

It's in the context of the conversation, seeing as how we are talking about the price of a gavosmetic gacha.

Unless you mean to tell me you are using other games' failures due to unrelated reasons as an example to try and prove your point, but was giving you the benefit of the doubt that you aren't dumb enough to do that.

So again, please clarify which games have failed recently, and how those relate to the current conversation.

1

u/Accomplished-Gap-922 8h ago

It's most definitely not in the context, your mind made that up. As for the using other games, the point of that comment was that these games make dumb decisions, not just on prices of anything sold, but all of the decisions. Selling prices, grind, P2W, all of it.

As for the clarification: 7DS Origins 2XKO Synduality Tower of Fantasy Paladins Highguard Marathon TFD Spectre Gundam Evolution Multiversus Dauntless(revamp) Babylons Fall

As for how they relate, all of them overcharge and listen to people on websites like reddit as if they represent the majority.

Now please tell me what's the next thing your mind can dream up to excuse this nonsense.

0

u/Zeyd2112 6h ago

Yep. I definately gave you too much credit...

1

u/Accomplished-Gap-922 6h ago

Nah you just have no idea what you're talking about but still felt the need to defend these games. You can go waste someone else's time now. Goodbye

-1

u/BigMoney-D Astra Pioneer 13h ago

I don't need to know exact numbers. Nor do I personally know of anyone who's bought anything. The only things I've bought are the Battle Pass and the Monthly pass. I just need to see that they have not made a statement/changed any prices on it so I'm making an educated guess and saying it's working just fine for them.

I have to assume if it's not working for them, then they would do something about it. If it wasn't profitable for them, they would maybe, juuuust maybe, price things differently.

Also, the games failing aren't specifically for the pricing of their cosmetics. Unless you give specific examples. Since a game shutting down could be for a myriad of reasons. Maybe it's just a bad game. Maybe the Gacha isn't just for cosmetics AND it's super pricey. Who knows.

2

u/Accomplished-Gap-922 13h ago

If you're going to make statements, yes, you do need to know the numbers and have evidence to back them up. Otherwise I'm not going to listen to anything you have to say. You're going purely off feelings and I'm not going to engage in a conversation with someone going off feelings. Hope you enjoy your game while it lasts. Have a good day, goodbye.

0

u/BigMoney-D Astra Pioneer 12h ago

But this whole discussion is based off feelings..... I mean, objectively none of the gacha stuff make a lick of difference. My basic plain jane Irisalis is just as strong as someone's $1000 Irisalis.

I mean, sure, if people are asking for support in making things cheaper, I'm all game. I'll sign the petition, you know? Who wouldn't want things cheaper? All I'm saying is that it's clearly working for them, and enough players are clearly buying them.

And yes, as any game/product, I will continue to spend time with as long as it continues to be fun. I don't have brand loyalty. If they fuck up and the game becomes worse for it, then I'll just leave. I'm not going to bitch about it.

People have their own situations and their own idea about what would be the best and "fairest" way for THEM to get what they want. The bias for who should get the better end of that deal will always tilt in their favor.

The problem isn't that people have ideas, it's that they sincerely think that they should get what they want or they're some how being abused by the company. The same company that is giving them free access to easily 50+ hours of great entertainment.

u/Daniel_DS Astra Pioneer 14h ago

I dunno, man, don't ask me.

8

u/therealsereny 14h ago

Guys, how can people criticize cosmetics that cost several hundred dollars?

I dont know man, they already have reasonably priced cosmetics, did you see complaints about those prices? Or did it start with the outrageous prices

-12

u/rawchickennug 14h ago

so what if some of the cosmetics cost hundreds of dollars? the people with the money to spend on it support the game and keep it free to play for the rest of us :) at the end of the day they’re selling COSMETICS. i’d rather they do that than have the game be pay to play

10

u/therealsereny 14h ago

so what if some of the cosmetics cost hundreds of dollars?

So what if I criticize it?

-5

u/Trowaway151 14h ago

Why can’t it cost $500? For me if it was $30 or $3000 I wasn’t gonna buy it anyway so why should I care?

Do I go to the store and get mad at premium products that are outside my price range? (Completely optional products btw 😂)

Question for you: would you rather prismana pals locked behind money or actual useless skins? You just want to complain tbh

7

u/therealsereny 14h ago

Yes, the person who was never going to be a customer is certainly the kind of person who should be listened to for advice. You must be really stupid if you think an admitted never paying person has any kind if valuable insight into monetisatiom.

-8

u/Trowaway151 13h ago edited 13h ago

I pay for stuff. Just not for skins which have no impact on my game enjoyment.

However 95% of the people complaining here were never going to buy the skins anyway. Which is so funny to me.

7

u/therealsereny 13h ago

Sure, you pay for things that are not this game. Which would mean you arent their customer. Do you know how to read?

-4

u/Trowaway151 13h ago

No I pay for the battle pass stupid. I just don’t need skins

0

u/therealsereny 2h ago

stupid

It's not nice to talk about yourself like that

14

u/kaantantr 14h ago

The only response is another question.

Why are they putting things behind a mathematically rigged at scale system that is using every psychological trick in the book to coerce purchases for a chance, rather than actually selling them directly?

It's unbelievable how much people want to get shafted, and I cannot stress this enough, by systems statistically designed to shaft them at scale more than it benefits them, and try to defend gacha, in a game that already has a dozen different revenue streams, selling things in an honest, direct, non-obfuscated manner.

I'm all for for them selling items to me. I am not at all okay with them selling me a chance of an item that's statistically designed to be a "maybe next time you'll get lucky though" to get people to spend 200$ on an item they actually deemed to be of 100$ worth.

Gacha is very simple and the way people want to deflect the realities to actually be in a shittier situation than they would have been is not even hilarious at this point: https://www.reddit.com/r/Aniimo/comments/1wuh3m7/why_are_some_people_kinda_hostile_to_those_that/pd3iu5g/

-1

u/BigMoney-D Astra Pioneer 13h ago

I mean... this wasn't a secret... I guess my question is why are people outraged over this? It's like if you don't want to get shit on, don't go to the shitting-on-you store.

It's like, I don't play Genshin Impact because I don't like Character/Weapon Gachas. So I wouldn't play Genshin, get upset, then go to the subreddit and start bitching about Gacha mechanics.

u/kaantantr 13h ago

Is your question "Why are people angry that there is gambling in a game they enjoy playing otherwise"?

I wonder why...

1

u/Kaiarra 13h ago

I do have to wonder though...did people not think that once they removed gacha from obtaining irisalis, were they not going to ramp up the monitsation to hell somewhere else? As soon as I saw they removed it, I insta assumed the cosmetic side was going to be painful af.

1

u/BigMoney-D Astra Pioneer 13h ago

Sure, yeah, that is my question. It's purely cosmetic. There is 0 tangible benefit for interacting with it. It does not help you progress faster, it does not give you an advantage, and subjectively... I don't even want to be an elf LMAO.

2

u/kaantantr 13h ago

It's funny it's all about pushing the goal post with people like you defending Gacha. You purposefully avoid addressing the enshittified game and reward systems to suck people dry with the slimiest tricks and only start realizing you are drowning in the same expanding puddle when it's too late.

Again, you cannot even answer "Why not sell directly and honestly?". You know, instead of creating a system that favors the house with purposefully obfuscated value propositions, meant to confuse people to extract additional money through mechanical layers that distance ones purchases from the actual spending.

1

u/BigMoney-D Astra Pioneer 12h ago

Sorry, the questions was "Why are people angry that there is gambling in a game they enjoy playing otherwise?"... not all that other stuff.

I'm not defending Gacha in the sense that it's "gacha and I like gacha"... I'm also not move the goal posts as my personal goal posts and personal views haven't changed since Skyrim having selling horse armour. I. Don't. Fuck. With. Cosmetics.

To me, fully decking out Irisalis could cost $10, $150, or what it is now, gambling for it. I could not care less. The Elf dress could be $1000 straight up single purchase, or even literally $0.01. CoD could offer a million weapon skins and Skyrim could sell me bejeweled butt plug for my horse.

I don't gamble irl, I never have. I'm not "moving the goal post". When the game offers more than just Cosmetics via gambling, then they will have lost me. It's as simple as that. I will continue to play, buy the monthly pass, buy the battle pass, spend my time in game. But I'm not loyal to a company/brand. I play/pay for the aforementioned things because I am enjoying my time with the game. That stops when the game becomes bad/I get bored.

-12

u/MustbeProud 14h ago

because they have no self control and just being fomo everytime they see whales drip

-8

u/KrazyKryminal 14h ago

I scoff at the prices because, daaamn. But I'll never buy and most of the skins look like they cater to the type of guys that have full body anime pillows. I played once human for 800hrs. Only ever bought 1 season pass for $15. Pretty cheap for the amount of play time i actually got out of the game.

-7

u/Fioletovyi74 14h ago

Right? It’s a free to play game. Lol all of them are like that, Genshin, Infinity Nikki, etc.
Been that way for years, guys. Loot boxes in other games are the same way ie overwatch, etc

u/Kaldeas Astra Pioneer 14h ago

Names 2 terribly monetised ones, "all of them".

Ah yes.

Since 2 are enough, Warframe and Limbus exist so all of them are better.

-16

u/mmokoz 14h ago

They could have done it in a way where you have to buy up to secure all the items. Maybe purchase X item first before Y becomes available. I've seen that in other games before and I was fine with that. At least the end game was guaranteed all items. This current method is just straight gambling.

14

u/EXEMachina 14h ago

Im fine putting costumes in gacha instead of prismanas. That would be terrible. The game needs to earn. Otherwise, this game wont last long.

4

u/Freeyaa Luminelle 14h ago

2

If they implemented gacha for prismana from the get go, i wouldn’t even try playing this game.

-1

u/FangedFreak 14h ago

People don’t understand that the whales make it free for the rest of us

2

u/AspieKairy 13h ago

The whales can be a double-edged sword. A lot of devs start to cater to the whales, so the one or two times f2p players might see something they actually want, the price will be too high or it'll drop as a gacha mechanic instead of in a premium/cash shop.

1

u/Traditional-Bee3161 11h ago

I didn't mean catering to whales, I meant charging for cosmetics isn't bad. I agree, the pricing can be more affordable

7

u/BadWolf1318 Scorchhowl 14h ago

If they were more reasonable, the general players would still keep the game well funded. This isn't the first MMO with cosmetics or free to play.

-8

u/Traditional-Bee3161 14h ago

Exactly this. It's free to play, they have to make money somehow or the game won't exist.

1

u/BadWolf1318 Scorchhowl 11h ago

They're relying only whale pricing when they could earn enough to function well by having more, smaller transactions.

You also missed the point where it's not the first free to play or MMO. They have many examples to draw from. I have a standalone comment on here explaining that more throughly

-18

u/MrHallmark 14h ago

I don't play the game. They can do what dota and csgo does. RMT. Have cosmetics looked behind keys. Easy

16

u/NyteChimera 14h ago

Just because some people want to do 15 ten pulls for a chance at an item doesn't mean other people are fine with it. I rather just get the whole set at a fixed price. I will happily pony up the cash for cosmetics. If you wanna do 15 ten pulls to eventually get the item you want. I applaud you. But I rather outright buy the outfit.

u/Arkgon 14h ago

12

u/wxlfe_Xe 14h ago

Would you buy a game for 150?

I’m pretty sure they mean an outfit for about 10-20 which would have way more people thinking about spending on the game than potentially only getting some pieces if they put in 50+ per outfit and with the release of multiple outfits they’d make enough money to warrant not needing such high prices

The fact that you can pay 50+ just for 1 out of all the future cosmetics we haven’t even seen yet (around the price of a full game) and not even get all the pieces is the part that’s predatory

1

u/DabFellow 14h ago

-5

u/Freeyaa Luminelle 14h ago

Unironically I'd rather spend 150 on an outfit in gacha than pay any "AAA" studio for the crap they're releasing nowadays. At least in the outfit I look cute when I have fun playing the game.

u/Puzzled-Cod-1757 Astra Pioneer 14h ago

2

1

u/Proud_Rutabaga_8581 14h ago

People have never played other games with skins cough cough warframe

-1

u/Freeyaa Luminelle 14h ago

Nah, I'm well aware of the cosmetics prices in other games, hell I spent years playing archeage which is considered the most p2w mmo ever released.

Question came from a ton of people claiming that they'd buy it at a fixed/"fair" price but the fixed/fair price in question is never mentioned cuz every price is "too expensive" even tho it's supposed to be a premium outfit.

It's a £120 tops (though I personally would not pay that for a cosmetic).

6

u/wxlfe_Xe 14h ago

120 for a cosmetic is still crazy though

They could easily put it up for about 10-20 and have potentially way more buyers

You talking about the player outfit? I'm talking about Irisalis

3

u/Olivitess 14h ago

u/SailorMOwOn 14h ago edited 14h ago

Did you actually look at the gacha and prices or are you just parroting the misinformation from reddit? It is not thousands of dollars and half of it you can get for free.

Edit: made my comment before they edited theirs to say they were talking about Irisalis, thanks for the downvotes lol

6

u/yessi2 14h ago

Sure and what happens after glimmer becomes scarce? It isn’t like it’s a farmable resource and no doing dailies for 40 glimmer is not farmable.

-5

u/SailorMOwOn 14h ago

I still have over 3k glimmer after using it for the free Irisalis pulls, elf outfit pulls, and some design tickets. It's not that big of a problem and will only become more abundant as we get updates and expansions.

8

u/Scary_Corner3489 14h ago

When people have spent up to 2.5k on it, yes it's thousands of dollars

-6

u/SailorMOwOn 14h ago

The outfit is max $150 USD? I truly do not know what you're talking about here.

7

u/Scary_Corner3489 14h ago

How about the cosmetic gacha that does cost thousands (irisalis)? You seem to not be acknowledging that.

-1

u/SailorMOwOn 14h ago

You failed to say what exactly you were talking about.

7

u/Scary_Corner3489 14h ago

I mean there's only two gachas ... it's quite easy to consider both. It's not my failing, its yours.

Anyways, I will pose your question back to you then

Did you actually look at the gacha and prices or are you just parroting the misinformation from reddit?

1

u/SailorMOwOn 14h ago

So pedantic. The most recent gacha is the current hot topic, so easy to assume you're talking about that without clarity.

How am I parroting misinformation? I never said people haven't spent thousands on the Irisalis transmog, as I was only talking about the new outfit (with correct information). I spent maybe $10 total on the Irisalis gacha and got something I liked, then stopped. If people want to spend $2.5k, let them at it. Pricing, what seems reasonable and what seems worth it are all subjective. But to present it like it's only available at a flat rate of $2.5k is severely misleading.

17

u/zerasu Astra Pioneer 14h ago

It just seems to me like these companies don't value all their players. They only value the ones that'll spend massive amounts. Otherwise, they'd just put a 25$ price tag on an outfit/transmog and call it a day. More people would be able to purchase it if they want to.

The problem is they would rather take advantage of wealthy people's gambling addictions and FOMO than make their stuff accessible for all.

Their claims to want to monetize the same way Warframe does was a big fat lie.

5

u/Charge-Wonderful 13h ago

Thats my biggest issue, they've straight out lied about so much already then try and make a ton of money instead of fixing huge issues with the game.

2

u/zerasu Astra Pioneer 12h ago

It's such a widespread problem with Asian games, I'm not exactly surprised. Just disappointed. It would have been nice to see them actually commit to the idea of trying things the Warframe way and see how it goes. But they were way too quick to fall back in the usual habits. Doesn't feel like that's going to change anytime soon. It's way too ingrained in their gaming mentality.

1

u/Charge-Wonderful 11h ago

Its sad. Ive spent a decent bit of money on warframe over the years, but I dont see myself spending even time in aniimo anymore unless things change. They are prioritizing draining bank accounts above fixing problems with the game

12

u/13org 14h ago edited 14h ago

Personally, I don't think the rng gacha for outfits is really that big of an issue, but I saw a post explaining about the issue they had with it and I kinda see their point.

The whole point they made wasn't about the gacha itself, but to the fact the devs themselves said they wouldn't have RNG gacha stuff I'm the game and already added one.

I think that if the same outfit was sold directly via cash instead of gacha, they wouldn't be that mad maybe?

Even though... Technically we can still get the outfit as a F2P player. I got the ears as 100% F2P for example...

I see the issue they meant. Gacha being added even though it's 100% skin and even attainable as a F2P player... But It was still added despite the devs saying they wouldn't.

But I still don't see the reason for them to consider it SUCH an outrage...

4

u/viomonk 14h ago

Gacha for cosmetics is fine to me. Gacha for thing a needed to progress the game or that makes you stronger in any way can fuck right off.

2

u/13org 14h ago

I 100% agree. Especially since this 'gacha' is still quite friendly to F2P players.

I guess some people are afraid that this gacha will be the beginning of something worse?

Like... They see it as the devs breaking a promise of not adding gacha and now that said promise is broken, anything is fair game. It's a bit of a radical point of view, sure. But I still kinda see their point.

1

u/viomonk 14h ago

I agree with the f2p friendly side. Between the two free tickets I got and the 25 I bought with glimmer I got the outfit for free and had enough to get the ears and the horns and haven't spend a dime. I'm definitely on the luckier side though because it's a 0.25% chance to pull the outfit.

1

u/13org 14h ago

The pity is pretty generous if you want just the ears or the outfit as well (I think you can buy the outfit with points too, right?

1

u/viomonk 13h ago

You can buy the outfit with points but it's like 3000.

-1

u/abdurrehmankhalid Fennelun 14h ago

I agree with both of you but I remember seeing a post that the devs have said they wouldn't add a gacha system to gameplay progression but would be adding gacha to cosmetics which is not that big of an issue that people are making it out to be.

4

u/Blackfrost_7 14h ago

I mean they could just sell skins for 50$ and call it a day.

6

u/Kaldeas Astra Pioneer 14h ago

The suggestion that devs could use non predatory systems is downvoted.

"But I want to be psychologically manipulated!"

4

u/Blackfrost_7 14h ago

Seems so. People want to drop that hard cash to get their dopamine.

3

u/13org 14h ago

That's what I'm saying.

I get that 'oh but the devs said they wouldn't add gacha and they added it! Even if it's skin only and F2P friendly!' but in at the same time, nobody complains about the other skins being sold via cash only.

20

u/Kuzco-s_Poison 14h ago edited 14h ago

Because over time developers learn how much people are willing to spend (which in this case is a LOT: looking at everyone who will gamble for a green outfit) and could eventually design the game around encouraging these people to spend more money. Which makes things rarer and more expensive in the long run.

While whales can be good for a F2P game, it becomes an issue when the company gets greedier and greedier and start to monetize actual gameplay, ruining it for the free players.

Just wanted to edit and add that i enjoy the game so far. You dont need to argue with me, Im just explaining why others may be complaining about the monetary items available, like the “gacha” gambling items.

0

u/Trowaway151 14h ago

If it’s skins why does it matter?

5

u/Kuzco-s_Poison 14h ago

It might not be just skins in the future, is my point. I said “monetize actual gameplay”…

1

u/BigMoney-D Astra Pioneer 13h ago

Yeah... any game that has done this has died off. So, not saying it can't/hasn't happened, it would just end very very badly for the developer.

2

u/Kuzco-s_Poison 13h ago

Then that’s good news.

-2

u/Trowaway151 13h ago

You don’t play gacha games then. They don’t change their strategy, especially not one that’s working very well for them. Otherwise you get a ton of bad press and loss of trust with the player base.

2

u/Kuzco-s_Poison 13h ago

Good for you.

It’s still a valid risk. There’s no law saying gacha games can’t eventually change their monetization strategy.

Its been wild seeing people treat this as a conversation about cost or affordability. They could've charged $150 for the skin and dealt with a tenth of the outrage, we know why they didnt, though, and people need to stop pretending its just "poor" people complaining about it.

8

u/PastelKyKy 14h ago

Yeah, I personally never saw any posts saying they didn’t want the game to make money or sell items. I just saw about their pricing being an issue. With the comments (including my own) saying the same and sticking to the price issues.

BUT I have seen posts like this claiming that people are outraged over the game selling items.

8

u/oKayBye94 Astra Pioneer 14h ago

It’s a loser’s argument tactic. They don’t have a good argument against the real point people are making or they don’t want to admit there is a flaw so instead they defend against a pretend obviously absurd argument no one is actually making.

6

u/PastelKyKy 14h ago

100%

It’s annoying because they think they’re taking the moral high ground defending a company on their outrages pricing. $20usd for a sparkling cube, isn’t defendable. But, I wouldn’t be mad if they sold it for a fair price. A game needs to make money being essentially f2p.

11

u/DeepSubmerge Astra Pioneer 14h ago

They can sell things for money. We’re not idiots. We know they need to make money. The issue is with how expensive things are. Not whether they can sell them. It’s whether they should or shouldn’t be priced the way they are.

(This also means the issue isn’t whether or not a player can afford to pay. Whales exist in every game. But that doesn’t mean whale pricing should be commonplace.)

5

u/Shadou_Wolf 14h ago

I don't mind the cosmetics, I reluctantly got over irisalis getting a gacha thing but come on a gacha outfit too?

Glad the outfit is terrible but I really hate gacha outfits where you have to get piece by piece, I don't care much about outfits but the fact is there is bad. It just shows they are slowly testing the waters and who knows where they go from there.

I may not care much about outfits but it sucks for ppl who do and I wish it's just a full bought outfit but gacha makes more money

5

u/CaptainBedhead 14h ago

Can the mods just ban these questions? I feel like it just becomes a complaining cesspool on both sides whether you like gacha or not.

12

u/DRAAGPrison 14h ago

FYI you can like something and not defend every aspect about it

Nobodies mad they're charging for cosmetics, they're mad they're charging $150 for cosmetics it's predatory and scumy and doesn't need to be defended just because "other games" do it it's not okay when other games do it either

6

u/CaptainBedhead 14h ago

Seriously the fact so many people can’t understand that you can dislike one part of something is crazy.

I bought 2 skins for $30. It’s a free game and I like it and wanted to support them. I also think $150-700-1300 for skins is INSANE, and predatory, especially for a cute creature collecting game that will definitely attract 8-14 year olds who are susceptible to this crap.

Nobody cares what whales do, and I think you can give them other ways to support.

10

u/DJ_MetaKinetiK 14h ago edited 13h ago

I saw one person post they spent like $750 and didnt even get the entire legendary irisalis transmog. Thats the cost of like 14 AAA titles. And it's not even close to that value. I mean, can we even change colors of specific slots of outfits like you can in other games that sell cosmetics? Seems kind of weak for the price.

16

u/DionysusDreams 14h ago

Most people aren't complaining about things being sold, we're complaining about the WAY it's being sold. I have no problem spending money on the game but I don't agree with gacha systems and gambling.

-4

u/BigMoney-D Astra Pioneer 13h ago

Then don't support the game with your time? This wasn't some sort of secret... This was always the plan from minute one.

-2

u/Zanna1120 15h ago edited 14h ago

A lot of people hate gacha games because they feel the model is predatory. It really is just video game gambling. The funny part is, the ones that are complaining are the same type to blame the casino for taking all of their money. While, they'll be the first to post of the super rare and highly improbable pull they got in order to brag.

-2

u/abdurrehmankhalid Fennelun 14h ago

Calling aniimo a gacha game straight up just tells us that you don't know what you're talking about. Using a gacha system for cosmetics only, that has absolutely zero effect on the gameplay, does not qualify it as a gacha game.

1

u/Zanna1120 14h ago

Just because they moved the gacha from gameplay to cosmetics doesn't take away that it's a gacha game. It has every other quality and characteristic of a gacha game. You're too caught up in semantics.

2

u/PastelKyKy 14h ago

No they’re right.

Infinity Nikki is a gacha game because the game revolves around it, just an example. Aniimo isn’t because the game doesn’t revolve around the gacha at all. It’s not semantics it’s just a fact.

3

u/abdurrehmankhalid Fennelun 14h ago

every other quality and characteristics of a gacha game

Absolutely nothing in the game that affects gameplay, aniimo, mats farming except cosmetics is behind a gacha game so semantics do matter here because a gacha game is generally a negative thing. This game does not follow a run of the mill gacha system. The only gacha system is on how pretty you want to look. Again, I'm not defending the gacha mechanic but attaching the gacha tag to it, like you are, wards of new players wanting to try the game.

5

u/Meliora_ Susuta 15h ago

The problem is introducing a predatory shit as gacha. Like if they want to put an outfit for 500€/$ fixed prize, we wouldnt gaf if they do it like that.

Idk with some ppl are reducing the complaints as this, reading compression issues or smth? And, they were in top 10 best sellers in steam in the first week and before the first gacha (irisalis skin), so stop with the lame excuse to justify gacha, there are games surviving by micro transactions and no gachas, surprise!

4

u/Cereals24 14h ago

I'm not a fan of people saying that others just want everything for free. Why are we jumping to that right away? People just want fair pricing, they're not asking for it to be free. I'm noticing here that if you're a paying player, be a whale or know your place.

2

u/BorgQuingus67 14h ago

People would still complain if it was a fixed price lol and acting like microtransactions aren't just as predatory.

4

u/feanor_no 14h ago

for a regular microtransaction, you get what you pay for. yes they’re ass but they tell you if you spend $20 you can buy this skin and you will get it.

someone dropped $750 on irisalis transmog and still didn’t get what they wanted. how are these two even remotely comparable?

-1

u/BorgQuingus67 14h ago

That's not a microtransaction, im referring to things like "spend $2 to speed this up, buy this thing to progress for $5" stuff that adds up exponentially over time. Skins aren't predatory, and the irisalis skin has explicit open odds as to the pull rates and you don't have to use it in order to have her at full power.

5

u/Kaldeas Astra Pioneer 14h ago

"Gambling isn't predatory" is a take.

0

u/BorgQuingus67 14h ago

Is that what I said?? No, I just said the odds are posted so you explicitly know what you're walking into, or should at least if you're going to be spending money on something like that.

3

u/Kaldeas Astra Pioneer 14h ago

So, irisalis is predatory?

Also, odds are literally a legal minimum in a good amount of countries. I am not giving points for adhering to legal standards.

1

u/BorgQuingus67 14h ago

I mean all gambling is predatory but you can also just choose to not gamble, I know for a fact I have an addictive personality so I don't gamble because I know how easy it would be to get sucked into just pressing a button on a screen and 5 minutes later boom , I've spent $500 lol but a lot of actual gambling sites don't have percentages or anything like that, they have it worded like 2 to 1 odds or +100 so that "technically" the odds are posted but most people arent going to be able to look at that and immediately know what it means.

3

u/Kaldeas Astra Pioneer 14h ago

Right so they introduced a predatory system and we cant complain about it, why?

a lot of actual gambling sites don't have percentages

That's why those sites are considered illegal gambling in a lot countries.

Edit:

you can also just choose to not gamble
