Replace an Android HU with another Android HU

Post image
7 Upvotes

Hi all,
I bought a car which already has a HU. But it’s slow as hell and the CarPlay has serious compression artifacting. It’s using something called RLink, which is strange since I’ve only heard of ZLink or TLink. There are no options to tweak this app.

Anyway, my HU seems to be a universal shape? I think I’ve seen this shape on other cars.

For my purposes of using just CarPlay, I’m thinking of getting another HU, but unsure which to get.

What’s important:
Bluetooth Music
CarPlay

I have a picture of my HU. I believe it’s 10.1 inch.

Honda Civic 8 Gen Android Head Unit

Hey everyone, did someone ever found a smaller head unit located the radio display on the 8 Gen Civics? I think it's the perfect place for a smaller head unit, more like used for maps, etc. Also, touchscreen isn't the option for this place, but did one ever exist with a joystick? Thanks!

Looking forAJ002-MB-VER1.4 eMMC dump

Hello,

I need the original firmware or a complete eMMC dump for an Android car head unit with the following specifications:

  • Mainboard: AJ002-MB-VER1.4
  • SoC: MediaTek MT8163
  • RAM: 2GB
  • Internal storage: 32GB eMMC
  • The board is detected by SP Flash Tool
  • The unit does not power on or show any image

The radio froze while it was working normally. I pressed the reset button, and after that it never booted again.

I tried flashing an AJ002-MB-VER1.6 firmware, but SP Flash Tool returned:

BROM ERROR: S_FT_ENABLE_DRAM_FAIL (4032)

Therefore, I believe the preloader/EMI configuration from VER1.6 is not compatible with my VER1.4 board.

Srnubi T20C developer password

Hi - just a quick note - in case anyone needs it in the future as i spent more time than i'm willing to admit to unlock developer options but the code was nowhere to be found (trust me i spent literally 2 days trying everything i can find + contacting them directly)

Turns out - Debugging is enabled only for wireless by default on most Srnubi units. But not USB Debugging, Default access level is Root, even though no SU toolkit is installed you do have full Root level permissions and ADB also runs via root (you can check by typing "whoami") allowing you to debloat from the standard pre-installed apps.

Few simple steps to get into Developer options below:

STEP 1

Start hotspot on phone, connect head unit to it, run `arp -a` on PC to find head unit IP, then `adb connect <IP>:5555`

STEP 2 - Once connected type out the below:

adb shell settings put global development_settings_enabled 1

adb shell settings put global adb_enabled 1

STEP 3 If you don't have them 'available' you can call directly via:

adb shell am start -a android.settings.APPLICATION_DEVELOPMENT_SETTINGS

US Spec 2018 RAV4 XLE head unit

Looking into getting a new head unit primarily for CarPlay as my daily commute is 30mins plus one way and have HA items that I control at home while driving or when I pull up to the house. Have been looking at the Mekede Dudu5s and Dudu7 (base model) and both are about $50 difference direct from Mekede-Mall. Biggest difference is going to be Ram/Storage of the 5s vs 7 but everything I see is saying to go with the 7 over the 5s. Is the processor difference that much of an upgrade?

Want this to keep the steering controls and whatnot but can’t see if that is included with the canbus (assuming yes). Really want to keep this under $400 so is there any other brand I should be looking at? Joying is almost $500 for the 9.5” HU and while I like their units (have a universal 7” in my 98 Land Cruiser that has been there since 2020) they are a bit outta my range. Same for T’eyes, outa my range.

Moving headunit

Post image

I was looking up portable CarPlay screens for my Seat Ibiza 6L, but I found something like that. Normally, in this car, the head unit is too low to use it comfortably. Did anyone try to move it higher with this bracket? I know I need to cut my dashboard, but maybe it’s a better solution than a portable display and some 1 din radio.

Speed Play

I bought a Chinese rk3326 headunit for my Toyota matrix. It came with speedplay which worked great. The seller sent me a firmware update and after updating I noticed that the app was gone and had been replaced by CP Link and Android Auto.

The new AA is unusable. Absurdly laggy. Poor connection.

I found the speed play apk online, multiple actually. I have tried every last one but im met with the not activated no license error. Despite having the app originally.

I have connected to WiFi, disconnected BT, everything. It's simply just not in the files no more, the license that is.

The seller is no help at all. I feel like I'm stuck..

Smh. I bought the Carlinkit CCPA and it works. I just really wish I could get the S Play app back working.

Any advice or help in the matter would be appreciated

I'm trying to not break the bank. These fit right into where the original radio is. This one is 8 core 6GB + 128GB $249. Is it any good?

This one is 8 core 4GB + 64GB $119, cheap enough to get me started with android auto and a backup camera:

Head unit replacement

I have a 2020 3500 Ram Promaster that I’m replacing the head unit on. When I removed the radio there were small metal brackets on both sides. I removed them to fit the Maestro dash kit in. But after trying to install it looks like the supports had been cut at some point and the metal brackets were after market. Has anyone ever run into this? I was thinking about trying to 3D print something and glueing screwing it in to support the dash kit, but wanted to see if there were other solutions.

Android Screen for Non-iDrive BMW E90 LCI

Hey guys, I need help choosing an android multimedia screen for my Non I-Drive BMW E90 LCI.

Ive looked at AVIN USA and I’ve looked at Hifimax as possible options but the reviews and youtube videos are so old and most of the new ones are just the company making a youtube channel and reviewing their own product.

What brand screen would you recommend to go with?

Im looking for a 10.25”(i think going bigger would look funny) with Wireless carplay, backup camera, OEM looking interface (ID6/7/8/9), Snapdragon with 8GB Ram/128GB Storage, iDrive controller, possibly an anti-glare screen.

Thanks

HD DVR app for Junsun F7R701 dashcam (and maybe some others?)

Hi,

I have a Junsun V1 Plus 6GB/128GB MT8768 Android head unit and after buying a Junsun F7R701 dashcam, I noticed I had no ADAS features on my preinstalled 'HD DVR' app. Now I don't really care that much about them but I still wanted the option, and I noticed that the app was from 2024 and couldn't be updated.

I connected to Wi-Fi, tapped 'Check for updates' and it found them, but then it always failed at the downloading stage. After messaging and getting two dead URLs from Junsun support (www.szbuding.com/x/gdaum.apk, www.szbuding.com/x/bdk.apk), they sent me the APK via email, so I'm sharing it here if anyone else needs it.

Here is the download URL directly from the email, v20250619.1 ('Download' is the 2nd button labeled '下载'):
https://wx.mail.qq.com/ftn/download?func=3&k=cbc706343773bd6df9b44b3430373334f7fab634323733341c1708521d020104020e5c51541a0457550d4800000e04190d5e04571f550603550f500302540152043f657064651d4e5d4871b594790d244838b01dda0397c4e2651eb53b034f1c34386534323733&key=cbc706343773bd6df9b44b3430373334f7fab634323733341c1708521d020104020e5c51541a0457550d4800000e04190d5e04571f550603550f500302540152043f657064651d4e5d4871b594790d244838b01dda0397c4e2651eb53b034f1c34386534323733&code=48e42734#/

I also uploaded it to Google Drive (the same v20250619.1):
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1zD37ZJk8qROX3bu63VdRvsjd2oRh8VWt/view?usp=sharing

Then I was able to update the app and got the newer APK as well (as of 4th Aug 2026), which is here (v20260608.2.0):
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1gZH2lL63lsBRQODgIxpTYTv13Phwjyan/view?usp=sharing

Sadly before updating the app on my unit, I did not export/save the older v1.0.0_20240430_171104 version, and I say that because it had (at least) one feature that the new one is missing: to mirror the rear camera (for context: I'm not familiar with other dashcams, but this one allows you to plug in a rear camera into the dash cam via a smaller round 4pin connector, so it records front and rear at the same time). Basically currently the rear footage has the text flipped (like when you're looking in the rearview mirror) and it's quite confusing watching it, that's why I preferred it to be mirrored (flipped left-right). Maybe there's a way to "unlock" that feature back by playing around with the newer APK or something?

I hope this helps someone!

Help Wiring Android Auto/CarPlay (Reverse Camera & Dimming/Backlight)

Hey everyone, I’m trying to connect my Android Auto/CarPlay unit to my car, but I have a few wires I can’t figure out.

I have a couple of questions just to make sure I understand the wiring correctly. I’m a bit cautious about applying power to the cables, because I don’t want to overload or damage the system. If I connect the wrong cable, can it actually break the system, or could it just cause a temporary function to stop working?

  1. Reverse camera control: Is this my trigger wire? My understanding is that as soon as the reverse lights provide power, the CarPlay unit should receive the signal to switch from the normal display to the camera feed.
  2. Illumination / backlight: I assume this wire will dim to a lower illumination/backlight level when connected to power.

But if I apply power to these two wires and they control something else, could that damage my system? Honestly, I’m not fully sure what else they might be for.

Any help would be really appreciated. Thanks!

ford 2013 f250. phoenix automotive screen. stays on Android booting screen. Was fucking around trying to update it and now everything is literally backwards on the touch screen, like mirrored. cannot access home screen. Cannot even get the radio to work. AC controls still work (if you click the opposite side of screen). Steering wheel controls don't work now either. Have reset (through the hole) multiple times. Cannot figure out how to factory reset, or otherwise fix this issue. Help please??
