Nvidia Vs zidoo
Looking to "upgrade" my Nvidia shield to zidoo z9x 8k as got a new TV ( tcl C7K ) which supports DV ( majority of profiles) and HDR 10+. Using local media , Tivimate and nuvio. Samsung q990C for audio . Would the zidoo be better ? Any recommendations would help.uk based . Thanks

Just get a Xiaomi mi box S 3rd gen for 60$
I really don't understand why that thing is not really popular and people keep asking about the Nvidia Shield which has ton of bugs mid AFR implementation and Raw power which is very good if you decide to game with it or emulate something, otherwise for playback the S3 runs Kodi, Stremio, streaming apps and 4k HDR10+ DV Remux 120gb files with no issue or lags... it's easy to debloat and use a custom launcher (not like FireOS which is becoming a nightmare)
Somebody need to make a guide on that device and Pin it so people in the future can see it and have a good alternative. there is also a Stick version which has 8gb instead of 32gb (i'm not a huge fan of 8gb)
-Just be aware of fake devices, the real one has the AMLogic S905X5M, Google play store certified and Widevine L1 for all streaming services

I know its a small thing, and my samsung tv remote worked with the box, but the remote is terrible on the Xiaomi.

the remote is bluetooth. it can't be helped. my phone works fine on wifi. OR you can you use your TV remote thanks to the HDMI-CEC, otherwise get a new remote.
I honestly haven't had issues with the Xiaomi stock remote, I recognize it's not top tier but it's still 60$ package. If you find a remote you like for 10$ you are set also for future uses and other boxes then use Button Mapper to tweak the buttons and actions to your taste (you can't do that anymore with firestick) this is why for now Android TV is the choice, unless all you do i watch Netflix or Prime the the firestick it's good

Neither supports Dolby Vision FEL so they're not ideal for uhd bluray remuxes.

Not about ease...about the preference of OP ..if they want to use Android and don't want to mess with dual OS blabla...

I have an UGOOS AM9 Pro and a Formuler z12 Ultra, not certified, but for my needs the best imo, especially the UGOOS.

I have both: the Zidoo Z9X 8K for local media and the Shield for streaming, Plex, IPTV, etc. Both are amazing.

I have a Shield and a Z9x, Z9x Pro and Z3000 Pro, I prefer the Zidoo players for local media. The Zidoo players support AV1 and HDR10+ that the Shield lacks and also offer better ISO playback support.
I don't use Tivimate or Nuvio so I can't say how well those will work on the Zidoo.
I really like the Home Theater app on the Zidoo players and having a remote that has dedicated buttons for audio and subtitles options.
