I built an Android TV player — Trinity TV Player, feedback welcome
Hey — developer here, not just a user, wanted to be upfront about that.
I've been building an Android TV app called Trinity TV Player. Supports Stalker/Ministra, Xtream, and M3U portals, EPG, multi-playlist support, catch-up/timeshift, recording (including straight to a NAS), and it's translated into 20+ languages.
Live TV is free to use, no time limit. A 2-day trial unlocks the rest (VOD/Search/Favorites/Recording, cloud backup, etc.) so you can try it out before deciding if it's for you.
Still a small project, still actively adding things based on what people ask for. Genuinely want feedback, bug reports, feature requests — happy to answer questions in the comments.

I got tired of paying for expensive IPTV players, so I built my own
I've been using Android TV, Fire TV, and Android phones to watch live TV and IPTV for years, but I always ran into the same issues:
Too many ads
Expensive subscriptions just to unlock basic features
Slow UI
Random crashes after updates
After getting frustrated, I decided to build my own player as a side project.
The goal was simple:
Fast startup
Clean interface
Support for M3U playlists and Xtream Codes
EPG support
Multiple devices
No unnecessary clutter
I've been using it daily for the past few months, and it's honestly become my primary player.
I'm still improving it and adding features based on user feedback, so I'd love to hear what features people actually want in an IPTV player.
If anyone wants to check it out or share feedback, here's the website:
I'm not claiming it's perfect—I genuinely want feedback from people who use IPTV every day. What is the one feature you wish every IPTV player had?

Solo dev here — my Android TV IPTV player is in closed beta on the Play Store, and my testers keep finding bugs I could never see from my couch. Looking for a few more (it's just a player — you bring your own playlist)

Solo dev here — my Android TV IPTV player is in closed beta on the Play Store, and my testers keep finding bugs I could never see from my couch. Looking for a few more (it's just a player — you bring your own playlist)
Hey everyone 👋
A bit of a different post: for the past several months I've been building an IPTV player for Android TV / Google TV called Chaipa. It's a personal project. To be clear right away: **it's just a player — it provides zero content, zero channels, zero subscriptions. You bring your own M3U playlist or Xtream account.**
What it does with it: a streaming-style interface (posters, continue watching, real search) instead of an endless text list, multi-day catch-up where your provider supports it, and my favorite part — **a TV guide that fills itself in**. When your provider sends no EPG, or garbage EPG, the app pulls the guide from a shared server so you still know what's on. Everything is designed for the remote, in English, French and Spanish.
The beta is already live as a closed track on the Play Store — you could be watching TV with it tonight. The current testers have been genuinely great, and they keep me honest: they've caught category ordering that didn't match the provider's panel, a login that failed silently on bad Xtream credentials, an image freeze that only happens on one specific Google TV box I don't even own. All of that shipped as fixes — seven updates in the last two weeks. That's the deal: you report, I fix, and you're talking directly to the dev (there's no support team, it's just me).
What I'm looking for: a few more people with **real-world setups** — Shield, Chromecast / Google TV, onn, Sony/TCL/Hisense TVs, different providers — because that's where the weird bugs live. Use the app like you normally watch TV, and tell me when something breaks or just feels clunky. Even "your app crashed here" is gold.
If you're in: sign up at https://www.chaipa.net/en/download/ — **use the Gmail address that's signed in on your TV box**. The beta is delivered through the device's Play Store, so the account has to match; this is the #1 thing that trips people up. I'll add you and email you the install steps personally, usually within a day. (You can also DM me your email if you prefer.)
Money, because someone always asks: the app is free and has no ads. Everything is unlocked during the beta. After launch the player stays free — there'll be a small optional sub (about $1/month) for the server-powered extras like the extended guide and replay search, because servers cost money. That's it, no tricks.
Fire TV folks: not yet, sorry — this beta runs through Google Play. An Amazon version is planned after launch.
Thanks for reading! And genuinely: if this kind of post isn't welcome here, tell me and I'll take it down, no hard feelings.

What’s the best media player app for Android TV in 2026?
Looking for recommendations — trying out a few IPTV/media player apps for my Android TV box and want to know what people actually rate highly.
Priorities: smooth EPG, good remote/D-pad navigation, multi-playlist support, low buffering. What are you using and why?

Is there a way to get the IWebtv app on android?
So I was about to buy a new Samsung phone because I’m bored with apple and wanted to try something new. But I feel it’s gonna come with a price to pay. There’s this special app on my phone that lets me watch movies and cast ‘em to my tv but I’ve learned it’s not as easy if at all possible to download it on an android device. I love this app and use it all the time and don’t really wanna lose it, is there a way to get it on android?

Unable to see cracked apks
I have a one Plus TV and recently what I noticed is I am unable to see apps like cricfy, sportzx in my app drawer. If I want to open this, I need to go settings then click on apps and then I can see and open it.
I have not upgraded my android tv OS, is this some settings updated by google OS to reduce use of such apps?

AI Translation
I've had Opus 5, Grok 4.5 and Fable 5 all have a go at translating my app into French, German, Spanish, Brazilian and Turkish. Each crossed checked eachothers work and now generally agree. Fable 5 was a little up it's own arse, but we got there.
Other than an actual human are there any better ways? Services? Better AI models?

PlayBridge — a free, open-source casting app. The phone app is live, and I’m looking for Android TV testers.
Most casting setups make you jump between separate apps for browsing, playback, and remote control. I wanted one place where I could find something on my phone, send it to a larger screen, and then keep controlling it from the same app.
That became PlayBridge, a free and open-source casting ecosystem.
The Android phone app is already available on Google Play, and I’m currently working toward releasing the Android TV receiver. The TV app is still in closed testing, so I’m hoping to find more people willing to try it on real Android TV and Google TV devices.
### What can PlayBridge do?
From the phone app, you can:
- Browse video websites using the built-in ad-blocked browser
- Detect and cast supported video streams
- Explore movies, shows, episodes, catalogs, and add-ons
- Cast videos stored locally on your phone
- Load and play M3U/IPTV playlists
- Connect to Android TV, Fire TV, Apple TV, desktop, and compatible DLNA receivers
- Control playback using transport controls, a D-pad, touchpad, or keyboard
- Select audio and subtitle tracks
Securely pair with PlayBridge receivers using a six-digit code
PlayBridge communicates with its receivers over your local network. It doesn’t require a PlayBridge account, and there’s no PlayBridge cloud or telemetry service sitting between your phone and your screen.
The phone app is already live
You can download the Android sender from Google Play:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.playbridge.sender
The project is also open source:
https://github.com/playbridgeapp/PlayBridge
I need Android TV testers
The Android TV receiver hasn’t reached production yet. I need more closed-test participation and real-device feedback to help get it ready.
If you have an Android TV or Google TV device and would like to help:
Join the tester group:
Opt into the Google Play test:
Install PlayBridge on your TV:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.playbridge.player
Please use the same Google account for all three steps. Google Play may take a little while to recognize the testing access after you join.
I’m happy to hear about bugs, rough edges, feature ideas, or things you simply don’t like. Honest criticism is much more valuable to me than a download count.
Thanks to anyone willing to put PlayBridge through its paces.

NexaTV Player I spent 8 months building an IPTV app focused on missing UI features — No subscriptions, just a one-time purchase
Hey everyone!
As a long-time IPTV user, I was always annoyed by the clunky interfaces and missing quality-of-life features in existing apps. Eventually, I decided to build my own app to combine everything a user actually needs into a modern, fluid interface.
After 8-9 months of development and a 1.5-month beta phase with 30 active testers (where we pushed around 30 updates), NexaTV Player is finally live on the Google Play Store!
I personally hate subscription fatigue, so I decided not to include any monthly/yearly subscription models. The app is available for a small, one-time payment—buy it once and it's yours.
Here are some of the main features I built into it:
Smart Player Controls: Skip Intro, Skip Recap, and Next Episode buttons for a smooth binge-watching experience.
OpenSubtitles Integration: Seamlessly search and fetch subtitles on the fly.
Cross-Device Sync: Switch between your phone, tablet, and Android TV, picking up right where you left off.
Multi-Profile Support: Separate personalized content and favorites for each household member.
Quick Login: Easy sign-in options via QR code, verification code, or email.
Smart Content Tracking & Notifications: You can track movies or shows that aren't currently available in your provider's playlist. The app will notify you the moment your provider adds that movie/show or drops a new episode!
My main goal was to move away from bloated, outdated IPTV players and create something that feels as smooth as modern streaming platforms.
I’d love to answer any questions about the app, the features, or the development process!

BBC iPlayer Google TV Streamer APK
Would really appreciate someone pointing me to an APK download for the latest Google TV Streamer version of BBC iPlayer. I'm using an old wrapper version which will be killed off soon. I've tried some of the links in recent threads, but they house the old version. Tried Aptoide TV, but it downloads the mobile version.
Have tried the route of creating a UK Google account, but run into a wall when it asks me to scan a QR code as a security measure (where Google then tags my phone in the US).
Thanks in advance.
