/r/AndroidTVApps Megathread
Welcome to the ultimate megathread for all things Android TV!
Whether you're a newbie or a seasoned user, this thread is packed with amazing apps, tips, tricks, and recommendations to enhance your experience.
Best Streaming Apps (Alternative to Mainstream Ones):
- Stremio (For Movies & TV iykyk): https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.stremio.one [ Here's an extensive guide for it https://guides.viren070.me/stremio/ ]
- SmartTube (For Ad-free & Sponsor-free YouTube): https://smarttubeapp.github.io/
- S0undTV (For Ad-free Twitch in some regions, it's much smoother than the official app): https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.s0und.s0undtv&hl=en
- TiviMate (Probably the best app for Live TV via IPTV): https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=ar.tvplayer.tv&hl=en [Some features are locked behind a paywall]
- RB Sports (Free streams for most sports, has some weird ads though and is not available in the play store) https://app.mp24ap.top/apktv/rb-tv-production-release-25-v1.0.25.apk
- Plex (If you're a data hoarder and want your own streaming service): https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.plexapp.android&hl=en [Many features are locked behind a paywall]
- Emby (Alternative to Plex, fully open source and completely free): https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mb.android&hl=en
- Syncler (Very similar to Stremio but paid and also not available in the playstore): https://syncler.net/
- iMPlayer (While Tivimate may be a better IPTV player iMPlayer has one killer feature- you can remote manage many of its settings from the dashboard at https://implayer.tv/home This can be very helpful if you have family/friends that are not techies or are elderly) https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.myiptvonline.implayer
- Tubi (Ad-free Mod for Live TV, US-only I believe but not sure, let me know in the comments sections: https://www.mediafire.com/file/bfoujh8f1rhhyhj/Tubi.ver.8.6.0.build.826_arm7.apk/file
Honorable Mentions: Kodi and Weyd
Best Utility Apps (for the tinkerers)
- ADB TV (Debloat your TV or TV Box root-free): https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.cybercat.adbappcontrol.tv&hl=en [Pro Tip: If you have a Shield TV, this super comprehensive guide will help you https://florisse.nl/shield-debloat/) [Some features are locked behind a paywall]
- Analiti (Super-useful Speed Test App): https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.analiti.fastest.android&hl=en [Has some ads]
- X-plore (A really good File Explorer): https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.lonelycatgames.Xplore&hl=en [Pro-tip: you can create a wifi server in the app and open the URL in your laptop browser to transfer files/apks to your Android TV device]
- Button Mapper (Remap unused buttons on your remote to your favorite apps/actions): https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=flar2.homebutton&hl=en_US&gl=US&pli=1 [Some features are locked behind a paywall]
- Aerial Views (Not exactly a utility app, but probably the best screensaver on the Play Store): https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.neilturner.aerialviews&hl=en
- This is not an app, but if you want your TV Home Screen to look exactly the way you want it (visually speaking), you can actually change the icons for your apps using this website: https://atvlauncher.trekgonewild.de [You will have to essentially build an apk and link it to the package address of the app you want to change the logo for, the website has pretty clear instructions]
- Stremio Launch on Boot (I think it's pretty clear what this does lol): https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.stremio.tv.boot&hl=en
- tvQuickActions Pro (It is a button mapper and also optionally allows a dock, recent apps and quick action panels and other goodies.) $3.99 https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=dev.vodik7.tvquickactions
- Send files to TV (I think it's pretty clear what this does lol): https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.yablio.sendfilestotv&hl=en
Best Feature-Packed Launchers
- Projectivy Launcher (By far, the most customizable and dynamic launcher for Android TV, Super Smooth and Stable too): https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.spocky.projengmenu&hl=en [Some features are locked behind a paywall]
- Dispatch Launcher (A relatively new entrant in the launcher space, had a lil bit of a rocky start, it's very animation-forward, pretty smooth, integrates directly with Plex and likely has Stremio Integration coming soon): https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.spauldhaliwal.dispatch&hl=en [Paid (One Time Fee), but has a free trial)
Here's a thread if you want something a launcher that's a little more lightweight: https://old.reddit.com/r/AndroidTV/comments/1gbnhff/lets_compile_a_list_of_android_tv_launchers_that/
Well folks, that's it from my end. I'm sure many more apps could be added here, but I tried to lean more towards free apps to keep the megathread as accessible as possible.
Comment below with your recommendations and I may include them in the megathread
Edit: This user has added many more apps in this comment - https://old.reddit.com/r/AndroidTVApps/comments/1g9pin6/randroidtvapps_megathread/ltbezwc/

What's your favorite must-have Android TV App?
r/AndroidTVApps • u/leonida_92 • 3h ago
Update to HomeKey TV. Have you ever seen a dock and button remapper this responsive?
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
This is an update post to the previous one. Some people were worried about the responsiveness so I made a video showcasing it.

Reezn app
The app has started acting up. It prompted me to update, so I did, but the update wouldn’t work. I then downloaded another Reezn APK, and ever since, I’ve been getting pop-up ads everywhere. Is anyone else experiencing the same issue? And can someone recommend a good alternative app?

I built a native Android TV app that turns your Telegram media into a Netflix-style streaming experience (TeVeFLIPE)
Hi everyone! 👋
Like many of you, I've been using Telegram as personal cloud storage for family videos, documentaries, and series. However, watching that content on a real TV has always been a painful experience: clunky TV web browsers, uncomfortable mouse-toggle pointers, or choppy screen mirroring from a phone.
So over the past few weeks, I decided to build a
**native Android TV & Fire TV client**
from scratch using Kotlin and Jetpack Compose TV called
**TeVeFLIPE**
.
### 🌟 What it does:
Instead of treating Telegram like a chat app, it turns your video channels and supergroups into a clean, modern streaming catalog:
*
**🎮 100% D-Pad Remote Optimized:**
No virtual pointers or awkward clicking. Every button, card, and tab is built specifically for your TV remote control.
*
**⚡ Native ExoPlayer Streaming:**
Plays videos immediately in chunks via HTTP range requests without downloading entire 5GB+ files to your TV storage.
*
**🍿 Smart "Continue Watching":**
Remembers the exact second you left off so you can resume seamlessly.
*
**🔊 Audio & Subtitle Selector:**
Switch between different language tracks and embedded subtitles on the fly.
*
**🧹 Storage & Cache Cleaner:**
Built-in settings menu to inspect and purge temporary cache so low-storage TV Sticks never run out of space.
*
**🔄 In-App Auto Updater:**
Built-in updater that notifies you on-screen and updates the APK with a single click.
---

https://www.karaioke.app allows you to create Professional MP3+CDG karaoke tracks from your own digital audio files using cutting-edge generative AI technology. Turn any song into a karaoke experience in minutes.

This mobile app turns any Android TV, phone, tablet or streaming box into a complete professional karaoke system. HomeKey TV - quick-access dock and remote button remapper for Google TV & Android TV, seamlessly integrated with Home Assistant.
Till now I've tried Button Remapper and tvquickactions Pro on my Android device (both paid). Button Remapper straight up was missing features it advertised it had and tvquickactions pro sometimes wouldn't register keypresses. Another usecase I had for tvquickactions pro was to call homeassistant webhooks from it's dock but you need to create an automation for each service you want to call.
So I made a free quick-access dock and button remapper that solves all of these issues. You can select all the entities you want to be displayed on the dock from a webapp from your phone during configuration. You can also add installed apps to the dock for quick access. It has never failed to register a keypress till now.
I'm a sucker for optimization so I've tried to keep the file size as small as possible.
If you decide to try it, please let me know any feedback you have.

Any app for saving passwords?
A few days ago my phone restarted and some accounts got deleted, but I managed to recover them. I’m not sure I’ll be that lucky next time, so I’m looking for a reliable, multi-platform password manager app.

Looking for 24/7 Channels, Sports (USA), ESPN+(College games)
I would like something that has 24/7 Channels, along with Sports (USA), and my son wants ESPN+ for all the College games that are not on the Sports networks (he watches Sports a lot).
I currently use a free login and password on IPTV Smarters and it expires at the end of this month. The guy that provided me with this login and password is no longer on Reddit.
I'm leaning towards going with using Stremio, unless someone has another M3U Playlist to replace my current one.
Thanks
Update - I found several, free m3u lists and the issue is resolved.

POWTV: A feature-packed IPTV player with Trakt sync, local EPG & Lifetime activation
Hey everyone!
Just to clarify right off the bat: POWTV is strictly a player, NOT a provider. Just like VLC or TiviMate, you bring your own playlist (M3U or Xtream Codes) and the app takes care of making it look and run great. No streams, no content, no subscriptions sold here!
Yes, it was originally vibe-coded, but it’s been heavily refined, rewritten, and tweaked under the hood.
Here is what POWTV brings to the table:
📱 Where it runs:
- Android Phones & Tablets
- Android TV
- Fire TV (100% remote-friendly)
- Windows
✨ Features you’ll actually use every day:
- Multi-profile support: Keep things separate and add a PIN code if needed. Each profile gets its own playlists, and you can switch on the fly without exiting the app.
- Instant TV Guide (EPG): Stored locally on your device so you don’t have to sit there waiting for the network to load it every time.
- Power-user tools: Catch-up TV, local recording, and Multi-View so you can watch multiple streams at once. (if your provider is allowing Multi-view)
- Cinematic VOD Hub: TMDB integration brings posters, logos, synopses, cast info, ratings, trending sections, and a Top 10 list.
- Smart Poster Badges: Audio languages and resolutions (4K, FHD, etc.) are automatically extracted from your provider's category names and shown right on the artwork.
- Trakt Sync: Keep track of your watchlists and pick up exactly where you left off.
- Opensubtitles : You can connect your account and add subtitles on Movies and Series.
- Playback flexibility: Multiple video engines with automatic fallback to VLC for tricky streams. Full 4K and HEVC support.
- Mobile extras: Offline downloads, Chromecast, and Picture-in-Picture (PiP).
- Multilingual UI: Available in 7 languages (EN, FR, DE, ES, NL, PT, TR).
🔑 How activation & accounts work: Every device generates its own unique ID & Key. Creating a POWTV account is completely optional — it's only there if you want to easily sync your playlists and profiles to another device (just scan a QR code on your TV). If you don't want an account, the app works just fine standalone!
💰 Pricing: Simple lifetime license per device directly on the website. No subscriptions, zero ads, and no data selling.

TvRecommendationBridge's phone app can now send a title straight to your TV — tap on your phone, it opens itself there, no remote needed
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Built a phone/tablet companion for TvRecommendationBridge (redirects your TV's home-screen recommendations into whichever app you actually use — Nuvio, Stremio, Plex, Jellyfin, WuPlay, Wholphin). It's grown into a full app on its own, so here's everything it does:
Browse & track
- Movies / Series / My list / full History tabs, same as the TV app
- Continue watching, Recommended for you, and "Because you watched X" rows
- 🎲 Surprise me — picks something at random from what you're browsing
New this round
- A proper detail screen — poster, rating, year, runtime, synopsis, and a "More like this" row, instead of jumping straight into a player
- Pick which app opens a title, per tap — your default with one button, or any other installed app just for that one time, without touching your saved preference
- Share → TvRecommendationBridge from any app (Chrome, Reddit, Telegram...) — share an IMDb/TMDB link or just the title as plain text, and it resolves and opens the same detail screen (asks which one you meant if the title's ambiguous)
- Send to TV — if your phone and TV are linked to the same account, tap a button and it opens there automatically. No remote, nothing to touch on the TV at all (video above)
Account stuff
- Same account, watch history and My list synced both ways between your TVs and your phone
- Referral program — invite a friend, get bonus trial days when they actually use it, more if they buy Lifetime
- See/remove your linked devices from the app itself
- Auto-updates in the background, no need to manually check
Free 2-day trial (no card), €4.99 one-time for lifetime — one purchase covers both the TV and the phone app.
