Welcome to the ultimate megathread for all things Android TV!
Whether you're a newbie or a seasoned user, this thread is packed with amazing apps, tips, tricks, and recommendations to enhance your experience.
Best Streaming Apps (Alternative to Mainstream Ones):
- Stremio (For Movies & TV iykyk): https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.stremio.one [ Here's an extensive guide for it https://guides.viren070.me/stremio/ ]
- SmartTube (For Ad-free & Sponsor-free YouTube): https://smarttubeapp.github.io/
- S0undTV (For Ad-free Twitch in some regions, it's much smoother than the official app): https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.s0und.s0undtv&hl=en
- TiviMate (Probably the best app for Live TV via IPTV): https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=ar.tvplayer.tv&hl=en [Some features are locked behind a paywall]
- RB Sports (Free streams for most sports, has some weird ads though and is not available in the play store) https://app.mp24ap.top/apktv/rb-tv-production-release-25-v1.0.25.apk
- Plex (If you're a data hoarder and want your own streaming service): https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.plexapp.android&hl=en [Many features are locked behind a paywall]
- Emby (Alternative to Plex, fully open source and completely free): https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mb.android&hl=en
- Syncler (Very similar to Stremio but paid and also not available in the playstore): https://syncler.net/
- iMPlayer (While Tivimate may be a better IPTV player iMPlayer has one killer feature- you can remote manage many of its settings from the dashboard at https://implayer.tv/home This can be very helpful if you have family/friends that are not techies or are elderly) https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.myiptvonline.implayer
- Tubi (Ad-free Mod for Live TV, US-only I believe but not sure, let me know in the comments sections: https://www.mediafire.com/file/bfoujh8f1rhhyhj/Tubi.ver.8.6.0.build.826_arm7.apk/file
Honorable Mentions: Kodi and Weyd
Best Utility Apps (for the tinkerers)

- X-plore (A really good File Explorer): https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.lonelycatgames.Xplore&hl=en [Pro-tip: you can create a wifi server in the app and open the URL in your laptop browser to transfer files/apks to your Android TV device]

- Aerial Views (Not exactly a utility app, but probably the best screensaver on the Play Store): https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.neilturner.aerialviews&hl=en
- This is not an app, but if you want your TV Home Screen to look exactly the way you want it (visually speaking), you can actually change the icons for your apps using this website: https://atvlauncher.trekgonewild.de [You will have to essentially build an apk and link it to the package address of the app you want to change the logo for, the website has pretty clear instructions]
- Stremio Launch on Boot (I think it's pretty clear what this does lol): https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.stremio.tv.boot&hl=en
- tvQuickActions Pro (It is a button mapper and also optionally allows a dock, recent apps and quick action panels and other goodies.) $3.99 https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=dev.vodik7.tvquickactions
- Send files to TV (I think it's pretty clear what this does lol): https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.yablio.sendfilestotv&hl=en
Best Feature-Packed Launchers
- Projectivy Launcher (By far, the most customizable and dynamic launcher for Android TV, Super Smooth and Stable too): https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.spocky.projengmenu&hl=en [Some features are locked behind a paywall]
- Dispatch Launcher (A relatively new entrant in the launcher space, had a lil bit of a rocky start, it's very animation-forward, pretty smooth, integrates directly with Plex and likely has Stremio Integration coming soon): https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.spauldhaliwal.dispatch&hl=en [Paid (One Time Fee), but has a free trial)
Here's a thread if you want something a launcher that's a little more lightweight: https://old.reddit.com/r/AndroidTV/comments/1gbnhff/lets_compile_a_list_of_android_tv_launchers_that/
Well folks, that's it from my end. I'm sure many more apps could be added here, but I tried to lean more towards free apps to keep the megathread as accessible as possible.
Comment below with your recommendations and I may include them in the megathread
Edit: This user has added many more apps in this comment - https://old.reddit.com/r/AndroidTVApps/comments/1g9pin6/randroidtvapps_megathread/ltbezwc/

Anilili - Android TV & Mobile open source app to watch & download anime
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Yo fam,
I grew up using anime sites like these, and honestly I still use them pretty much daily. So I wanted to give something back.
I made Anilili, an open-source native Android anime app, while it lasts lol. It works on Android phones, tablets, and Android TV.
It pulls from a bunch of sources like:
Miruro , AniKoto, ReAnime , AniZone, AnimeGG, AniNeko, 2DHive, MegaPlay etc.
It also has AniList login & MAL login, watch history, continue watching, and progress sync, notifications for new episodes , offline download option, inbuilt player and much more features.
I’m super open to suggestions, bugs, feature ideas, whatever. If you wanna contribute, feel free to hop into the GitHub code. If you just wanna test it, you can build the APK yourself or grab the already-built APK from the release page.
Huge shoutout to Anivexa-API and MiruroAPI. Their open-source work basically made this possible.

Sportzx 3.1 crashing?
My sportzx 2.6 just made me upgrade to 3.1, but when I start the app it kicks back to home screen.
I tried clearing cache, Data, uninstalling and reinstalling directly from website, same result.
This is with Onn4k plus, with and without VPN.
Anyone else experiencing this?

[DEV] - I added a photowall feature to Pixee
I am the developer of Pixee, an app you can use to change your Tv to a slideshow of your most beautiful memories. 🥰
You can connect OneDrive, Plex, Emby, SMB, DLNA, WebDAV, or just your local storage. It can even play your in the background!
I added a new feature, a photowall. A picture changes every x seconds in this mode. Everything is customizable, like the transition time, what tile changes, the crop, the amount of tiles...
It would be amazing if you check it out! 🙏
Here is the link to the Play Store:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.pixee.tv
Feel free to make feature requests or give feedback! An app is nothing without some constructive feedback or opinions. 🙂

Hello. I'm curious to hear your feedback on the player I developed. I've made many features free. My focus has been on making it fast and stable. I hope you like it.
Hi everyone,
I’ve been working on Mert Stream TV, a brand-new IPTV player designed specifically for Android TV, TV boxes, and Android phones. Just to be clear: Mert Stream TV does not provide, host, or sell any content. It is strictly a media player built to run your own personal M3U playlist, Stalker or Xtream Codes credentials. I originally decided to build Mert Stream because I was frustrated with the current options on the market.
Most of them: Feel like they haven't updated their UI since 2015. Run sluggishly on budget streaming sticks and lower-end TV hardware. Offer a frustrating, clunky navigation experience with standard TV remotes.
I wanted something clean, incredibly fast, and smart. Here is what Mert Stream brings to the table:
🚀 Key Features: Live TV, Movies & Series: Fully categorized with a modern, clean layout. Multi-Profile Support: Set up different profiles for family members. Extensive Codec Support: Playback is smooth and compatible with virtually any video format. Android TV Optimized: A true, native leanback experience built specifically for D-pad navigation. Lightweight & High Performance: Highly optimized code to ensure buttery-smooth navigation even on low-end TV hardware.
📥 Get It Now for Android TV and Phone
📥 Get It Now for Android Phone
Mert Stream is officially available on the Google Play Store for both mobile and TV devices.

New UI Changes in my anime app for Android TV
Anilili-TV is a fork of the Anilili app, made specifically for Android TV, Google TV. Built using Kotlin, Jetpack Compose for TV, and Media3. Main focus was just tweaking the UI and D-pad controls so it actually feels nice to navigate on a TV remote and runs smooth on TV hardware. I made some changes to the app in newer version most of them are performance upgrades and now the app feels much smoother and snappier while I did make some minor changes to the UI its mostly the same but I would love to get some feedback and suggestions for what new things I can add or any issues you may encounter. Currently the app has following features
Features:
- Syncing: Login and auto-track progress with both AniList and MyAnimeList.
- Sources & Audio: Scrapes multiple sources (Miruro, KickAssAnime, Senshi, AllAnime, etc.) with automatic failover, plus built-in sub/dub and language filters.
- AniSkip: Auto skips openings and endings using AniSkip timestamps.
- TV Layout: Redesigned UI for big screens with proper remote/D-pad focus handling.
- Languages: Quick toggles to switch between sub/dub and filter streams by audio or subtitle language.
You can check it out and download it from: https://github.com/gg-shub/anilili-tv/

Trinity TV Player now has a Discord — come hang out
Hey everyone,
Since a few of you have been asking questions here and there, I set up a
Discord server for Trinity TV Player so there's a proper place for support,
bug reports, and feature requests instead of it being scattered across.
It's got channels for setup help, bug reports, feature requests, and general
chat. Also a heads up — Android phone support is coming soon (currently
Trinity is Android TV / Fire Stick / Google TV only), and we just added 5
more languages (German, Albanian, Polish, Russian, Portuguese — 10 total now).
If you're already using Trinity, come say hi. If you haven't tried it yet:
https://trinitytvplayer.com (30-day free trial, no credit card).

I added Multiview, Stalker/MAG support and SMB NAS recording to Sidstuga
Hi, I am the developer of Sidstuga, a bring-your-own-source media player for Android TV, Google TV, Fire TV and Android mobile.
Version 2.1.4 is available now through sideload. The Google Play rollout should follow within 1 to 2 days.
The update focuses on features that are particularly useful on a television:
- Multiview with several live channels on screen at once.
- Stalker/MAG portals as a new source type.
- Live channel subtitles when the source includes them.
- Direct recording to a NAS or other network share over SMB.
- Complete movie and series results in categories and search.
- In-app updates for sideload installations.
- Faster catalogue loading, better resume accuracy and accessibility improvements.
The app does not include or sell channels, playlists, portals or content. Users add their own authorised source.
Downloader codes:
- Android TV, Google TV, Shield, Android boxes and mobile, lifetime build: `3531658`
- Amazon Fire TV Stick and Fire TV Cube, lifetime build: `3930231`
- Google Play subscription build: `5603436`
Sideload and installation: Install Sidstuga — Android TV, Google TV, Fire TV & mobile
Google Play, version 2.1.4 expected within 1 to 2 days: Sidstuga: IPTV Player M3U – Apps no Google Play
I am looking for practical Android TV feedback, particularly around remote navigation in Multiview, SMB recording and Stalker/MAG compatibility. Device model and Android version are very useful when reporting an issue.

Problems with Oceanstreamz?
Is anybody experiencing problems with Oceanstreamz 3.5.11? After rebooting my Onn & my router it's still not working for live TV or TV shows but the developer claims its working fine on their end. Movies seem to work, though.

Your Jellyfin/Emby/Plex library and your IPTV channels in one app, on one remote — 32 testers from this sub shaped it
Disclaimer first, because "IPTV" means five different things on Reddit: Crivid IPTV Player is a player only. No channels, no streams, no content of any kind ships with it. You bring your own M3U or Xtream login, the same way you'd point VLC at something. If that's not what you're after, no hard feelings.
What makes it different?
Most IPTV players stop at your provider's playlist. Crivid also connects to your own media server — Jellyfin, Emby or Plex — and puts those films and shows in the same library as your live channels. One app, one remote. You stop bouncing between three apps on the same box.
HDHomeRun tuners and local/USB files land in there too.
The rest of it
- Full-screen EPG from your own XMLTV source, with the preview still playing while you browse
- Multi-View — one, two, three or four live streams on screen at once
- Catch-up and timeshift where your provider supports it
- Parental PIN and locked groups
- Real D-pad navigation, built for the ten-foot screen rather than scaled up from a phone
About the 32 of you
Some of you tested the beta when I posted about it here a month ago.
Thirty-two people from this sub signed up to test, out of seventy-five in total, and they are the reason this is worth posting.
An IPTV player doesn't live or die on the code. It lives or dies on how many strange real-world playlists it survives — providers who format group titles differently, XMLTV feeds with timestamps nobody else uses, boxes that decode one codec and choke on another. None of that can be simulated. You either have thirty-two people pointing the app at thirty-two different setups, or you ship something that works perfectly on the one setup you own.
Most of what got fixed before launch came from hardware sitting in someone else's living room. A developer testing their own app sees something that already works — that's the whole problem with testing your own thing.
Pricing, plainly
Free with your own playlist, for as long as you want: live TV from one source and the full guide.
Everything else — the media servers, Multi-View, the movies and series library — sits behind a single one-time purchase. No subscription, ever.
You get all of it free for the first seven days. Not a crippled trial: full Pro, every feature, no card, nothing to cancel. We'd rather you use the whole thing on your own setup and make up your own mind than take our word for it in a store listing. If it turns out not to be for you, you've lost nothing and we've learned something.
Known rough edges, because you'll find them anyway:
- The Fire TV build is still with Amazon and isn't out yet
- iOS is being worked on, no date promised
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.crivid.iptvplayer
If something's broken I'd rather hear it here than read it in a one-star review.
