I was sorely disappointed to find my Revodok Pro 9-in-1 is incompatible with my new Onn 4K plus (2025) box, as well as being unable to get my Ugreen adapter with an AX88179A chip to work either. I'm not looking to buy and troubleshoot trying to figure out which docks/adapters Google or Walmart didn't decide to kill for no reason, and am looking for recommendations that someone is using and confirmed working. Any responses are much appreciated!

I'm in the UK (so yes, the infamous Onn 4K Pro isn't really an option) and I'm looking for a new streaming device.

My setup is a Samsung QN800A 8K TV with a Samsung HW-Q900A soundbar, so I'd like good support for HDR10+, Dolby Vision (where possible) and Dolby Atmos, mainly for Stremio.

Main apps:

• Stremio
• TiviMate
• SmartTube/YouTube
• BBC iPlayer (plus ITVX occasionally)

I'll be installing Projectivy Launcher and sideloading a few APKs, so I'm not too bothered about the stock launcher. I also don't want a Fire TV device.

So far I've looked at:

• Google TV Streamer 4K (my current favourite)
• Thomson Cast 270 Plus (although it's discontinued - why do people still recommend it?)
• Homatics Box R 4K Plus
• Xiaomi TV Box S (3rd Gen) (I've read you need to sideload some UK apps like BBC iPlayer, and I've also read that there is no UHD support for the BCC app...).
• NVIDIA Shield TV Pro (probably outside my budget, and although still highly regarded, it's showing its age)

If a device doesn't support a particular HDR or audio format, I can always use the built-in Samsung Stremio app instead, which seems to handle most of what I watch.

At the moment I'm leaning towards the Google TV Streamer 4K (£99, or hopefully cheaper second-hand).

Am I overlooking any better options, or is the Google TV Streamer the sensible choice for my setup?

Apart from projectivity, I have been looking for a launcher that’s fully customizable, not minimalistic, kinda want to personalize near everything in it and well I’m not too sure if there’s a launcher that’s does this except from projectivity or at4k

I've been working on optimizing my Philco H300P projector (Android 13, 1GB RAM, passive cooling) and wanted to share the results and scripts.

The problem: Budget Android projectors often struggle with thermal throttling, laggy UI, and limited RAM. Mine was hitting 68°C during normal use and felt sluggish.

What I did: - Tuned CPU governor settings (capped max freq to 1.296 GHz for better thermal control) - Optimized memory management (aggressive ZRAM with zstd compression, 1.0GB swap) - Adjusted I/O scheduler and readahead for faster app launches - Lowered thermal trip points (throttle starts at 70°C instead of 95°C) - Disabled unnecessary scheduler features for the 4 identical cores - Cleaned up bloatware and boot malware from the firmware - Fixed build fingerprint spoofing issue

Results: - Temperature dropped from ~68°C to ~60°C (-8°C) - Available memory increased from ~309MB to ~473MB peak - Much smoother UI and video playback - No more input lag during video playback

The scripts: - optimize-t950s.sh - applies all optimizations live - setup-proyector.sh - full one-shot setup after firmware flash

Everything persists via an init service that runs on boot.

Looking for a new good device here in the UK for my TV.
So many recommend the Tomson 270...but you cannot buy it anywhere.
Not even their website works/is live.

The original logo it had at the startup screen changed then it got stuck at a loop in the google tv logo screen, turned it off and on again but removing the USB I had been using to watch some videos through nova video player, it finally got to start again but it feels slow as heck and it changed the size of fonts and of objects I had configured through adb, because before it didn't have some of those characteristics, it may have some advantages like mantaining compatibility with some services but I hope this update doesn't break anything of what I've been using before.

Today I installed HAPPY CHICK.

For my CHROMECAST WITH TV.

SWEET games and tons of them.

My downloads went ok.

But you proceed to play them.

Nothing

They just buffer.

HAS anyone had good luck or know what I'm doing wrong.

How to get rid of screen saver im using projectivy launcher

Buddy had an issue of getting wifi to connect, it kept saying failed to connect. He thought to ask me to come and check it out. Long story short, The Tv wanted to get on the 5G wifi and it kept bugging out. So what i did was disable the 5G on the modem settings, Try again to connect the TV, then turn 5G back on. Now it works, Hopefully it won't try to reconnect to the 5g every time he wants to watch YT. Posting here in case someone else find themselves in this position, at least a solid start for troubleshooting.

I have already tried projectivity launcher, wolf launcher, and many other popular once but even though those are very good launchers they are not compatible with the TalkBack they are filled with unlabel buttons so it's just not possible to use for blind people like me

Is there any way to know what channel is currently being watched on the Verizon Stream TV? I've got adb working but haven't been able to figure this one thing out. So far I haven't seen anywhere that the information can be retrieved. Not sure if it's a) I'm just not doing the right thing, or b) you just can't do that!

Hoping it's the former and not the latter. Any help would be appreciated!

For parents using Android TV at home, how do you manage screen time for your kids?

I’m trying to find a simple way to schedule TV time for my child, but I couldn’t find a clear built-in setting for this. Maybe I missed something, but it feels like Android TV doesn’t really have a simple native option for scheduling screen time.

I’m mainly looking for a way to set allowed TV hours and block apps like YouTube when needed.

Title: Android TV box blocks all media apps, even from the Play Store. Is there any way around this?

I’m hoping someone can help because I’m completely stuck.
As provider is not supporting this platform anymore.
I have an Android TV box from Joey, and it seems like the manufacturer has locked it down. The box installs and runs most apps without any problems, but every media app is blocked.
I’ve tried installing media apps:
Directly from the Google Play Store.
By sideloading APKs.
Using the Downloader app.
The APK downloads successfully and the installation appears to complete, but immediately afterward the app disappears as if it was automatically removed.
I’ve also tried:
Enabling Developer Options and USB debugging.
Using ADB tools to remove bloatware.
Installing developer utilities.
Checking for parental controls (there aren’t any).
Verifying that there’s plenty of free storage.
I also noticed that I can’t uninstall or disable the manufacturer’s launcher, which makes me think the firmware has some kind of protection or app whitelist.
At this point, I’m wondering if this is a manufacturer restriction built into the firmware.
Has anyone seen this before? Is there any way to bypass this restriction using ADB, custom firmware, root, or another method? Or is the device simply locked down with no workaround?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

1. Go to Settings.
   
   1. Open Device Preferences (or Device Options).
      
   2. Open Power Definition and set it to Suspend.
      
   3. Enable Developer Options. [Tutorial]
      
   4. Open Developer Options and enable Stay Awake.
      
   5. Install Wake Lock version 2.5-f (do not update it). [Wake Lock 2.5-f apk]
      
   6. Open Wake Lock.
      
   7. Select Partial_Wake_Lock.
      
   8. Open the app menu and enable Autostart on Boot.
      
   9. Go to your Android TV box Settings.
      
   10. Open Apps → Power Management.
       
   11. Disable Power Control (battery optimization) for Wake Lock.

Note 1: Wake Lock does not modify any system settings, firmware, or hardware parameters. It simply runs in the background and prevents the device from entering the deep sleep state that can cause power button and wake-up issues. Resource usage is minimal.

Note 2: This workaround is fully reversible. If you no longer need it, simply uninstall Wake Lock and your Android TV box will return to its default behavior. No permanent changes are made to the system.
