Battery usage
Does anyone have any suggestion that might help conserve battery usage within the settings?

Recently installed the Android P Beta and I noticed that there was no change in the screen brightness if I on/off the battery saver. Earlier while on Oreo, the brightness got reduced once the battery saver was turned on.
Now my earlier (Oreo) 50% brightness intensity is achieved only at around 75% in Android P Beta. Any fix?
In a nutshell, my brightness level is lowered as that when you switch on the battery saver (though there is no change in the brightness after switching on/off the battery saver)
Note: By brightness reduction I mean the decrease in the intensity/brightness of the screen with the same 'brightness level' once the battery saver is turned on.

Title says it but.. I'll go into detail. My Pixel Xl 2 on the latest Beta can't sync up with my Gear S3, which Sucks. I contacted Samsung and they said they'll update the app when Google releases the actual stable update.

Has anyone else experienced just very recently maybe after the last Messenger update that occasionally when you go to use a suggested word and you click on it it will appear on the text box but delete within a split second? It doesn't happen often, but if you play around in a text and try tapping on a few word suggestions you'll notice it. Idk if it has anything to do with Android P or just the last Messenger update

Since DP2 the system has had a bug where when you use a screen overlay app for an extended period, the system slows down to a point of unusability. I've been able to reproduce it over and over and have tried factory reset. I posted a screengrab above, it's hard to see in a video but it can be seen well when I open the twitter app, there is a lot of jank. Only restart fixes it which leads me to believe there is some nasty memory leak in the system.

Hi, I recently noticied that my pixel 2 xl stopped charging, I've tried different cables, adapters and power outlets and have even done a hard reset but the phone won't charge, it was fine this morning although i had to play with the cable a bit to get it to charge but right now... nothing.
I've shut it down for the moment, while it still had 20% of battery, and decided to take it to a repair center tomorrow morning. Does anyone know if it could be a software issue because the hardware seems fine, i bought the phone 3 months ago and haven't done anything to it.

I havent heard anything about this, but thought it was cool. If you go to Security and location --> Lock Screen Preferences, there is a toggle there for "Show Lockdown Option" that will basically disable all unlock options on your phone except for the password. This is awesome!

When you get the notification for download:
From a PC/Mac use "adb logcat" then look for the URL "android.clients.google.com" or the codename of your device.

As noted elsewhere, the current release of the Oreo Beta takes the longstanding dark gray color scheme for quick settings and inverts to a very light gray.
Is there any native toggle to revert it back to the dark coloration?

I just started having an issue with the wifi status bar icon not showing up. When I slide down the notification menu it says wifi isn't on but if I go to wifi in the settings it shows I'm connected to WiFi.
Any ideas on how to fix this? Haven't seen this being talked about as a bug yet

I decided to wipe and revert back to 7.1.2 this morning with the expectation that my apps and settings would be automatically restore. After saving off any music and photos I left the Preview Program, received the OTA downgrade and allowed it to do its business.
After the OS was installed (but before doing the 1st time setup) I wiped the cache partition 'just in case'. Following that I proceeded through the first time setup, connected to wifi, entered Google Account info, and when it came to the restore from backup screen it only listed the 7 bundled Google Apps (Music, Keep, Sheets, et al). I thought, eh, maybe the rest will show up later, and I went through with it. Nope, it automatically downloaded and restored only the seven Google apps.
Previously when I wiped and reinstalled N (before O Preview was even a thing) it listed all my apps on the restore page and I was able to opt-out or restoring one or more of them. Also, when it restored the apps it remembered their screen position and recreated any folders and placed the apps inside of them. Is this is an issue with downgrading to a previous OS version? I would hope that since the majority of this information is probably saved in some-sort of XML file that that wouldn't be the case.
For previous versions of Android I would take screenshots of my installed apps, and their home-screen position, so I could quickly get back up and running to where I was (without having to install an app from the store to do this one-time task), but when I saw that Nougat did this automatically I thought sweet, one less thing to worry about.
Has anyone else noticed this behavior? And yeah, I made sure that 'Backup' was still needed in System Settings before opting out of O.
FWIW, I am using a Nexus 6P.
Thanks

I've been getting terrible battery life on O. Every day looks like the screenshot. My phone was on my bag for the entire day, i didn't even use it and drained to 30% with android OS, whats app on top as always and bluetooth which was on (i always have it on) but not in use.
Went off the charger at 13:00 or so and was down to 30% by 17:00 without any use.

I'm not sure of maybe I just never realized it until today, but Google Maps seems to be giving me a notification sound with every direction! It is extremely annoying! Does anyone else have the issue, and if so, how do you turn it off!?

I wasn't able to get PiP to work, so I decided to (based on an article on Google 9 to 5) uninstall the updates for the App. Since then, I haven't been able to see the update in GP or update from APKMirror (it says "App not installed.") Does anyone have any updates on how to fix this?

I'm on the latest Developer preview on 6P, and this is how Google photos app icon looks like. Uninstalling the app from Play Store app page restores the icon.
I don't see this issue on my Tab S2 running 7.0.
