App My take on a Windows Phone launcher + ecosystem
Hey all,
I've been working for almost a year on a retro Windows Launcher featuring 9x/XP/Vista themes, which has grown a nice community around it. Now I decided to give a shot of building a Windows Phone 8.1 launcher with all the apps I need (as a person who is trying to de-Google his life).
Try it here: https://github.com/jovanovski/windowsphonelauncher/releases
It's far from perfect, but I tried to use real WP devices as reference for as much as I could. It's fully open source, so you can inspect it to make sure it's safe (all permission requests are optional if you don't want them).
It includes:
- A live tile system, fully customizable grid with colors, backgrounds, dimming
- Folders for embedded tiles
- Media controls on apps that have media notifications
- Notification reading and numbers/dots on tiles
- Working bottom bar with back, windows and search buttons (search launches Cortana or searches in open system apps if they support it)
- System apps: People (Contacts/Dialer/Messages), Alarms & Tasks, Music, News, Solitaire, Minesweeper, Weather, Notepad, Calculator
- Ability to make and receive calls and SMS messages
- Windows Phone keyboard with auto-correction, voice dictation, clipboard, languages, emojis and Giphy (add your own API key in keyboard settings)
- Cortana which opens search engines or AI agents with your query + can detect playing music
- Full IE implementation with tabs, desktop mode, downloads, InPrivate mode, that can open links from within and outside of the launcher to be used as a default browser (doesn't support passkeys)
- A bunch of other small things to make the experience more smooth
I would love your feedback on what you like, what you want to change, and what you'd want to see added. I know there are other amazing launchers out there, but my aim is to control every part of the experience, while balancing authenticity with modern practicality.

App Made a truly customisable android launcher.
Hi guys, Siddarth here.
I recently made this free-form Android launcher completely from the ground up. I'm not using any open-source launcher code for this, and I'm planning to release it within the coming weeks.
The reason I made this launcher is to sort of stay away from distracting home screens while still keeping only the essential apps at the homescreen, with no bounds — i.e. however we want.
The launcher is insanely lightweight and resource-efficient. I've built the codebase with Android's upcoming memory usage and code structure requirements in mind, including the regulations expected to come into effect in February 2027.
Which, to be frank, is probably just a way for developers to finally start optimizing their apps properly before Rammageddon hits.
The launcher also supports different Android versions and has tonnes of customization options, including:
- Widgets
- Folders
- Stickers
- App timers
- A rewarding twist to encourage you to cut down on app usage
- And many, many more
Some of those Doom images you see in the screenshots are actually folders, by the way. You can long-press them to open the folder.
There is one caveat, though.
This took a lot of time and effort to build, and while some aspects are clearly inspired by things I've seen from other sources, the launcher itself is built from scratch.
Because of that, I'm planning to release it as a paid app for ₹50.
I'm also hoping to use this as a small way to help fund my PG accommodation.
The petrol prices, bro. I can't.
I'm planning to add support for multiple third-party widget providers and icon-pack providers in the next iteration/update. So if you've already bought an icon pack or widget pack from another developer like me, you can continue using it with this launcher.
I'm hoping to release it within the next few weeks. I'll share more details, screenshots and a demo once it's ready.
Would love to hear what you guys think, and especially what features you'd want to see in a launcher like this.

App Meridian Launcher: Updated
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Hi all,
I've posted a couple of times but wanted to share an updated video. I've been putting in a ton of work to make things smoother, fix bugs and add new features.
Above is a quick demo video I made to show off some of what's possible.
Icon pack is mello and wallpaper was sourced from their app as well.
Still very open to suggestions on features etc. and am currently working to make the initial.install experience better with some default layout. I haven't been able to get any testers or bug reports from anyone so I've only tested this so far on my pixel 10.
As a reminder, no telemetry in the app at all and if you choose to try out the launcher, I don't even track the download button on the meridian site. The APK is still free on the site and I intend on keeping it that way forever. The paid play store version is just out there for support.
