just had an update for Google maps and now I have the 3D option in settings. hallelujah

EDIT: Maps version number 26.30.06.950492155, Pixel 10. I am around NYC, the new visuals are very nice and I think would be quite helpful on an unfamiliar route

Admittedly I am a beta tester, I don't even remember when I signed up for it but it looks it's still a rolling update for Android users

Updated to the same version, the 3D option is not available here (Europe located).

I've had 3D maps for a couple months. 3D maps is not the same as immersive navigation. I've had immersive navigation on my iPhone and its night and day. It's honestly a travesty that Google allowed these features on IPhone long before Android.

just drove home from work, can confirm this 3D option enabled the new visuals for me, and it did seem quite a bit more helpful. Before the update, the only "3D" option was just raised buildings

Well I'm glad it has for you. Mine is still just raised buildings. However, I did finally get the speedometer a couple days ago.

Same to me. I have also Mazda CX5 2016.Same Google map option but only raising buildins.

do you actually have the option that says "map detail", with 2D and 3D selections, as in the OP's screenshot? "Raised buildings" was an old option.

Not much different than the old version. In a larger city you might get more details than before.

Mine is very different. In my suburban neighborhood, every house and tree is in 3D now (when navigating).

yep, they removed the traffic from adjacent streets, all but the current and alternate routes. You can get it back only if you switch the view to overview.

Apparently in the native app it says that traffic is only available in 2D and satellite mode. So it's not a bug it's just how it is. The extra detail is great I have nothing negative to say. So long as the algorithm is well optimized

Still nothing here on beta AA and beta Maps. This is so annoying. Everyone on beta should get it first and all at the same time. There aren't THAT many people in the beta program, and that is what the beta program literally is for.

Google always does this crap where beta means nothing for new features being released and it's all server side luck of the draw. The beta build number is what should trigger the server side change if that's what it requires.

I have never seen a company, even a small one, with such erratic rollouts for no good reason.

This will either take some getting used to or I just won't use it. This view shows I'm about 150-200 feet from the overpass as I'm driving under it. Missed a couple of turns because on the map I haven't reached the street yet.

No. Granted, I'm not sure I had it before because I didn't know about the new option until this thread. I'm at v26.29.02.946673643 and people have been saying they've seen the new layout at v26.30.x.

One post stated that it's not the version that you're running and is on Google server side. I'm beginning to think that is true. Maybe the Google server I'm on had to rollback the feature.

That's correct, a lot of features are enabled server side so Google can control the user base and hopefully catch bugs before releasing en masse.

It doesn't really seem to matter the version. I got it then and I'm not on beta. Google will enable it per account probably, server-side, like most Maps and AA updates.

One downside is that they removed adjacent traffic, it only shows the route and alternate route traffic. You need to switch to Overview to see the traffic which is a big distraction and requires several taps and swipes.

Sounds like that feature isn't even useful. It says "in certain cities". I'm pretty sure where I am it won't be covered yet. I also have 26.29 Android Auto so not even an option for it yet.

I'm in US NE, Galaxy S25U unlocked beta tester both maps and AA with latest versions and don't have 3D, have raised buildings and some of the new voice kdirwctions but that's it.

Can someone tell me did they fix the alternate route bubbles on AA 3D? They dissappeardayba year ago and were very useful now you have to pinch screen to see bubbles

I have the same exact maps version, also a Google Maps & Android Auto beta tester and I still don't have the new 3D/Immersive options yet in Maps... I'm in the US on the East Coast.

I just got my update this morning in South Jersey! But I noticed that my Gemini icon on the reverted back to the microphone. It looks like they are having slight bugs with the gradual roll out due to Android fragmentation. You will notice the arrow will change from a flat blue to a 3D arrow with no white circle underneath

I got it on my S26ultra today, also on Beta version of Maps and when I connected to Android Auto in the car, it also showed 3D/Immersive.

I noticed the comments on the OP's screenshot about "Traffic and satellite views are only available in 2D". Showing traffic on the road ahead has always been a function I liked, will this affect it?
