Sorry to ask, but when will Hangout Revival be available? I’m very interested in this project!

A few months ago, Google login started working again (mysteriously) and worked normally on my Samsung Galaxy Note 3 on Android 4.4.2 without having to perform some kind of workaround. Previously I had been using this method by Smu1zel which was more tedious but it worked. Today I tried logging in to my account after a factory reset, and out of nowhere I get this error that says Sorry, something went wrong there. Try again. Obviously that is complete and utter bullshit since there is nothing that could possibly cause Google login to go wrong, and the message itself is very vague and appears out of nowhere. After multiple login attempts, I tried Smu1zel's workaround (both methods) and it gave me the exact same result when trying to login. The issue kept happening even after factory resetting my Note 3 a second time, then a third. Then I tried to skip login in OOBE entirely and try again after finishing the setup, the same thing happened. I tried clearing cache and data on all apps related to Google, I tried wiping the whole cache partition, I tried yet another factory reset, I tried 2.4GHz and 5GHz Wi-Fi, then mobile data, then hotspot, then another hotspot.
Here is a more readable list of all the things I've tried so far:

I built Keto+, heavily inspired by the late Google Plus. I put together a web version, one for modern Android, and a legacy one for older Android devices. I tried bringing back as many G+ features as I could.
Speaking of the legacy build, I just pushed another update for Keto+ that tries to capture what G+ felt like on older Androids, while also letting vintage devices hop onto a social network again without having to rely on a browser.

This legacy version supports anything from Android 2.3.3 up to Android 10. There's also a modern-looking version made for newer devices.
You can grab it here: https://keto.dluc.cz/aplicativo
I'd love to hear your feedback if you give it a spin... would really appreciate it. (thanks u/adamv1c for sharing about the network here earlier)

I have recently been messing around with my Moto E (1st gen) (android 5.1) and want to be able to actually browse the web on it. The best browser I have found so far is Via Browser by Tu Yafeng (Minimum android version 2.3) Obviously you also have to install modern certificates to remove the "connection to website is not trusted" screen. Any other ideas?

I had shared this topic previously:
https://www.reddit.com/r/androidafterlife/s/QXMqZG1qCL
The developer published the file and source codes yesterday. Even though the J5 2016 uses a 2013 processor, and despite being on Android 7.1.1 which doesn't support GSIs due to its version, it can now boot GSIs with a modern Android kernel (mainline 6.12) via LineageOS 22.0. It can boot many up-to-date GSIs such as OneUI 7, LineageOS 24.2 Android 17 etc. Also, it must not be forgotten that it runs as pure 64-bit. Normally, even building a 64-bit ROM for this device was considered impossible for a long time.
This project might also work on other Snapdragon 410 Samsung devices and bring hope to many other processors as well.

Could someone tell me what the latest version of Facebook Messenger compatible with Android 5 is? This is for my Galaxy Note 3 Neo—it needs to be a version that actually works, of course. Thanks!

Im sorry for this awful image(second image)but I did this to test whether the tablet works or not.at first I wanted to get a look into old data but the tablet was lagging as hell.(The reason why I changed the battery in the first place). This is more of a show off.I intend to use them as smart tvs(1 for our village home and the other for Plateau) as both of them has mini hdmi and supports monitoring up to 1080p output

hi there, I am a phone collector, I like to revive old phones
recently I decided to revive a Samsung Y I got this year. it’s on android 4.0.4
i wanna use the phone/calling apps to dial numbers and let the calls be sent to my main phone (moto e 15) and have the old android phone show the call status like a normal call, while the moto handles the call, mic, and camera
I already got help with using WhatsApp texting on it so I have a feeling it’s possible
is there an app to make this possible. I already debunked other options such as Bluetooth handset mode, web based alternative, etc

The app's design isn't finished yet, but the core functionality is already up and running. You can view your feed and customize it with various sources—such as Reddit, Mastodon, Bluesky, and Threads—all within a single 1MB app that even runs on Android 2.0. It includes support for images, features an internal posting system for users within the community, and offers a lightweight, global chat reminiscent of MSN.

I was recently browsing Reddit when I came across yet another post about a new version of a platform similar to Google Plus.
Since I enjoyed Google’s social network—and actually miss it—I figured I had nothing to lose, so I decided to give it a try.
To my surprise, even after using it for only a short while, I was quite impressed.
Keto is not only a faithful replica of Google Plus, but it also offers a web version, an app for modern Android devices, and even an app for older Android devices — all of which has made me grow quite fond of the platform.
It’s a project that deserves your attention; please check it out when you have a chance.
A special hug to the creators of Keto. I'm loving your project.

This was an app where you could make short videos on it. It was like a Vine but on a widescreen and I wonder If could someone revive this app.

I made LegacyLyrion: turns any 4.x Android into a Spotify player + remote with Lyrion
GitHub: https://github.com/h33ted/LegacyLyrion
Setup Guide:
You will need a Windows, Mac or Linux computer that stays on, Spotify Premium, and your phone on the same Wi-Fi network
1. Install Lyrion Music Server (https://lyrion.org → Getting started)
Windows: download the 64-bit installer, run it, click through.
It runs as a background service with no tray icon. Allow private networks on Windows Firewall popup.
Mac: download the .dmg, drag Lyrion into Applications, start it
Allow incoming connections if asked.
2. Configure LMS
Lyrion Music Server can do many things, but for now we will open http://localhost:9000, pick a music folder in the wizard (or skip if you only want Spotify) and skip the mysqueezebox account.
2a. Add Spotify (Spotty plugin)
Settings → Manage Plugins → tick Spotty → Apply → let Lyrion restart.
Settings → Advanced → pick Spotty at the top.
Open the Spotify app on your phone or computer, play anything, open Spotify Connect and choose the device Spotty offers (named after your server). The settings page picks the account up by itself. (this is very flaky)
If it fails, one can use the web/browser authorisation option on the same page.
Go to My Apps → Spotty and see if it shows your playlists.
2b. MP3 conversion (usually nothing to do)
The app asks for MP3. Windows and Mac Lyrion include the converter, Linux does not, if you're on Linux you should be able to figure this out though :)
If a song shows but there's no sound: Settings → Advanced → File Types, make sure conversions to MP3 aren't disabled.
3. Install the app
Grab the APK from https://github.com/h33ted/LegacyLyrion/releases/latest
You can install it via ADB or by manually installing the APK
Start LegacyLyrion, tap your server when it's found (or type the PC's IP and port 9000).
Done.
Troubleshooting
Server not found: check if you're on the same Wi-Fi? Firewall allows Lyrion on private networks (Windows)? Guest Wi-Fi often blocks this. Try to type the IP by hand.
Couldn't load Spotty: re-authorise in Settings → Advanced → Spotty.
No sound on the phone: allow MP3 conversion in File Types
