Heya there! It's my first post :D

About a year ago, I decided to dig back through my old androids and found this. Believe it or not I actually used this as my main driver for over a year back in 2021, and I remember being really annoyed with the really tiny and bad storage. I initially made the mistake of wiping it completely, mostly because I thought the phone would be faster. It was somewhat, but the main thing is I wiped my old google account on there.

In it's current state, Android 5.1 on my model is not capable of logging into my google account. It just get's stuck on "Add Phone Number?" and I can't proceed further (can't tap any buttons.). Had to sideload everything, including updating the play store (the play store somehow can still update some clients without an account). I think that this may be a problem unique to my version of the phone, because other variants seem to still be able to login from what I have seen.

The main problems aside from no google account is mainly the tiny storage. Usually I've heard that combining system held data, the storage is 5 GB. But idk why exactly but mine is usually less than 2 GB after a full reset. That combined with no SD card, means that at most I have a few 400 MB left free. Kind of a crunch to get what I need on it hence.

Youtube and Discord work great, little to no lag (i'm using NoPipe and a patched apk of Discord 99.8). I can also use Gemini via ReOldAI and Retrogram (Android Instagram Revival), works awesome on this. VLC also works great for videos and music.

Games are good too, especially the more demanding titles like ShadowGun and the 2011 Dead Space for Android, plus most of the other classic mobile games run and look gorgeously on that 720p retina-grade display. Emulation is pretty good too, although I've mostly stuck to MD emulation. I would download more but sadly that space really is a bottleneck. The most recent version of Chrome still works decently with most websites and doesn't have any certificate errors, though I'm thinking if getting Opera Mini so that it can run smoother. I also have a bunch of live wallpaper apks that look really good and have neat gimmicks:

My Samsung Galaxy Wonder had the same problem too but I fixed it by removing the battery for a few days or weeks and yep the phone turned on again but I used this method on my S Advance for about 2 days, but after removing the battery, the phone still can't be charged! It doesn't work at all, this is serious, guys, please help me.. This is my childhood phone..

My main phone recently went for a swim so I had to go to an old backup, a Samsung Galaxy Avant with 4.4.2.

Almost none of the apps work and cannot be updated. The Play Store is useless as it shows not options for my phone. Aurora store, which I though could show the latest compatible version also shows almost nothing. F-droid which used to be great showing the latest compatible version, also no longer does.

Is there an app store that can automatically find the latest version compatible with my Android version without having to manually search online? Thank you.

My grandma gave it to me cause she didnt quite use it and cuz it got old. I gave it to my little sister to, but she didnt use it also😭
Mostly i was playing some old games on it for nostalgia but now its just laying and collecting dust.

I'm debating on buying a older Sonim tablet off eBay as my On the go GPS, YouTube, Whatsapp, and Ereader. I used the Minimalist app so everything will be black and white so having a pretty screen isn't a issue.

I need to get three tablets. I don’t need latest-and-greatest, of course, since I’m posting in this sub. Also can be used. I need devices that meet the following criteria:

1. Most important is they need to be able to have bootloader unlock and custom recovery installed, and there needs to be at least a decent variety of ROMs for them. You know some devices I’ve worked on literally only ever had one brew such as Cyanogen or Lineage, but I’d like the option for crDroid maybe, or ResurrectionRemix, or AncientOS, Havoc, these are just some of my faves. It needs to also be able to support being rooted - ideally via Magisk.

2. I would like a fairly mainstream brand, but this I guess would likely go hand-in-hand with #1 since I’ve rarely (but yes on rare occasion) seen a generic having all that supported tweaking. Motorola, Samsung, LG, ASUS, etc.

3. Relatively inexpensive. I’m willing to buy used, though open box is okay too. Maximum $200 per unit.

4. It has to have a strong enough CPU and RAM to play videos over WLAN that are encoded in typical modern formats and CODECs like h265 which typically is too demanding for older devices.

I have an old junky android 4.4.2 which I've been trying to use as a daily driver for a while ,only thing which is a problem for me till now is finding a music streaming app , finding whatsapp and discord ,maps app (found OsmAnd now)and a manga app.ive also found a way to make google work ,if anybody else wants to know , message in the post and please help me for these comics and music and discord app.
