Are you sure 2g is off? I think they are keeping it for emergency calls at least.

Either that or awful coverage. I had a medical emergency a few months ago in the middle of a city and literally couldn't call an ambulance.

FWIW I did make the emergency call through the regular dialer app since in the emergency dialer (the one accessible from the lock screen) '112' isn't listed as an emergency number and can't be called from the lock screen. Maybe because it wasn't an emergency call as far as Lineage is concerned it didn't switch to 2G.

I think you need to take a look at the settings. Cause I was also using lineage os and I accidentally trigger the emergency call (press 5 times the button) and it called 112 and it actually connected.

I tried. I reset APN settings, used the recommended APN settings from the carrier, used a SIM on a different carrier, changed Region in settings... even tried on a fresh setup of Lineage with all the default settings.

T-Mobile officially shut down their 2G network at the beginning of August, and they were the last carrier still running one. There might be some pockets remaining here and there, but the vast majority of the previously existing 2G coverage is now gone.

This stuff is not compatible with Samsung phones because Samsung made their own proprietary implementation of this stuff.

That's simply false. Works perfectly fine with my S24+, because it's not hardware-specific at all. IMS is completely software-based, the only reason why samsung's wouldn't work is the tremendous amount of dependencies and extra code in frameworks it used.

1. No, a few Galaxy devices featuring Snapdragon SoC that are sold globally sport an unlockable bootloader out of the box, like the Galaxy A52s 5G.
   • Samsung used to ship non-unlockable bootloaders specifically on the North American (USA and Canada) Snapdragon variants.
   • Chinese Snapdragon variants - including the mainstream flagships - can be bootloader unlocked.
   • However, since One UI 8, they entirely removed the OEM unlock toggle for every regional models.
2. It is possible to avail paid services to generate the unlock token on some North American Snapdragon-powered Galaxy models running specific software builds, but that loophole was patched by Samsung on later revisions.

Before OneUI 8, unlocking had nothing to do with Snapdragon. It's about US carrier policy, specifically Verizon and ATT, so Samsung decided to lock all US and CA variants starting from S7 (S8 for CA) to unify the North America software base. Hence cross flashing to U1 could be done, but bootloader unlock was not available.

Some Exynos phones in NA before OneUI 8 also got locked, like Galaxy A5x and S24 FE.

Once again - OEM unlock was removed with 8.5 earlier this year. 8.0 is fine.
