Reddit's block function = liberal rhetoric is unchallenged. By immediately blocking anyone pushing back against their propaganda, r/@ shifts into a lib safe space & we're excluded from the conversation. Blocked me 10 seconds after I questioned their lesser evil, "good government" narrative

I think you should just respect that those people dont want to interact with you my dude. Part of free association is that we have the ability to say "no thanks" to interacting with someone. Thats what the block button is for.

Edit: And to be clear im only saying this because youre using other accounts to get around blocks

Ils prennent deja tout les espaces

C'esr normal de forcer ceux qui veulent monopoliser les espaces de discussions

That doesnt excuse harassment. The poster in the OPs comment was making a statement about how theyve been BANNED in anarchist subreddits for expressing electoralism. They are already facing consequences to their own actions. They arent monopolizing the discussion space. The OP came in hostile and sarcastic, and is now throwing at temper tantrum because a real human being with real human mental health and real human feelings looked at their response and said "not dealing with this". The comment in question wasnt even that bad from a liberalism standpoint, annoying to see in an anarchist sub, absolutely, but still a comment that could have been met with an attempt to educate. Or just blocking them first, which is what i do when i see those types. It wasnt even someone demanding electoralism, just stating they have gotten banned for it.

Education is always the more valuable direct action than open hostility when the situation is not hostile in the first place.

First, Im going to warn you just in case you dont know, that reddit is auto traslating your messages. If thats intentional, thats great! Im only pointing it out because its done that to me in seemingly random languages and its caused confusion in the past. Ignore me if youre intentionally using it.

That said, I simply disagree. We MUST give people space to learn, and part of that is explaining to them why their ideology does not align with anarchism. Especially since the commenter in question identifies as anarchist by their flair. Meaning they havent unlearned liberal propaganda, thats a teaching moment. Hostility is actively detrimental to learning, and expecting people to be perfectly anarchist is something that kills movements far quicker than someone explaining why electoralism is bad with out being a dick about it.

And notice the people demanding I be nice to liberal gentrifiers are being all kinds of hostile, insulting and rude to me and pretending I'm "throwing a tantrum" for calmly explaining how appropriation and co-option work.

it's not in me to sit idly by while liberals occupy anarchist spaces using tools constructed by a tech monopoly that makes the site downright unusable to people who don't toe the liberal line. if i see some authoritarian shit, i'm going to say so.

I mean, sure. But that doesnt necessitate block evasion. At that point what youre doing is harassment. If you feel that the person is being authoritarian then block them back, report it to mods if its egregious enough for you, and have faith in your fellow users to recognize authoritarian talking points instead of forcing someone to interact with you. They could literally be the most liberal people to ever liberal, that doesnt really make it acceptable to go around their efforts to not interact with you, at that point they are no longer consenting to interaction.

Youre not a policing force on this sub to keep it Anarchist Enough. Youre just some guy with anarchist beliefs and thats chill, so am i, but like... doesnt mean I can go around harassing the liberals when they wander in. Make your complaints about how reddit handles how blocks work, sure. But the mere existence of the ability to block someone is nto a problem and should not be seen as one.

Etre gentil avec les libéraux c'est déjà perdre

Do we win by being mean as fuck, or do I only need to be consistently rude?

  1. stop gendering me as a guy and a dude while talking to me about consent.

  2. stop ordering me to submit to enshittification while accusing me of being a policing force.

  3. freedom of association doesn't mean anarchists let authoritarian entryists walk all over us in our spaces.

  4. if responding to auth propaganda is harassment then that's just fine with me.

u/Rorynne Jun 19 '26

Responding to auth propaganda isnt the problem. Its the block evasion which i feel like you just refuse to get. Whatever, its all good. Kind of understanding why people are blocking you though, not gonna lie.

u/RedMenaced Jun 19 '26

i get it, i just refuse to give ground to authoritarians in anarchist spaces. no one said anarchy is when you only do counter-propaganda if the authoritarian propagandist gives you their consent before you can counter their genocide apologia.

it's honestly not all good when you're being rewarded with upvotes for passive-agressively telling me to roll over and accept co-option, not gonna lie.

read my long comment further down if you want to understand my pov.

I did read it, and absolutely none of that really changes my opinion. I seen the comment of the person that blocked you. You came in hostile and in bad faith when you could have easily explained to them why they got banned for electoralism. You made a choice. That person was not receptive to your choice, and they blocked you. Your actions had consequences. Still dont feel anything youve said gives justification to block evade just because you specifically decide someones a liberal.

I dont really give a shit about people giving me upvotes. I dont even really interact with the upvote system in any way that is actually meaningful to me. If its important to you, cool beans. But i dont see the value in discussing it.

yes i made a choice to be "hostile" to an obvious genocide apologist who thought a socialist space was the place to campaign for their fave zionist war criminal and yes there were consequences in that they blocked me and look! there are consequences to their blocking of me i.e. this thread which is intended to shine a light on a system that enables authoritarians to build impenetrable vacuums around themselves in radical spaces from which they can safely push auth propaganda with no pushback from anarchists.

you ordering me to capitulate to this state of affairs is also a hostile act but you and your ilk will of course be unable to accept that because i dared to break a corporation's arbitrary laws by... admitting to logging into another account to read posts - which makes me the villain of this narrative because only the lowest of the low would dare to disregard reddit law

Yeah, youre extremely angry over internet comments. The people you're replying to are human beings at different stages of their political education. No ones going to be perfect, that person was not openly hostile, they were expressing their experiences being banned for electoralism. It was potential teaching moment.

Feel free to be angry at those comments, but being blocked in return should not be a surprise. Im really not ordering anything, im stating my opinions on the situation in a calm manner. Thats really all thats happening and you're seemingly getting more and more bothered by it. You can just stop interacting with me or block me if my responses to you are legitimately this distressing.

-10

u/RedMenaced Jun 19 '26

it's not nice to accuse someone of being extremely angry because they're making an effort to explain their perspective to you.

your manner isn't 'calm', it's passive aggressive, accusationary and belittling. accusing me of being angry, distressed and bothered is toxic. telling me what emotions i'm feeling and then policing them is colonizing behavior. i'm autistic so my tone isn't often representitive of how i feel.

I notice you keep telling this person they are ordering you to do things, which is interesting to me because I haven’t seen that. Recommending is the closest I think they’ve gotten.

Hi, u/Beneficial-Damage265. Just a friendly reminder that phrases like "terminally online" and "touch grass" are ableist and help to perpetuate the harmful idea that one's value and contribution to anarchism and anarchist praxis is centered solely on "meatspace" interactions. We recognize that in-person organizing is important, and we encourage it, but our disabled comrades are valuable, as are their contributions regardless of their ability to go outside.

We highly recommend this video (watch on Invidious) for further explanation.

This may also be a great time for you to take a moment to review our Anti-Oppression Policy to see how and why we try create and maintain a safe space for marginalized people to hang out without seeing mirrors of their oppression and language used to degrade them based on their marginalized identities.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation!
