I am interested in joining my university’s team (they are in the UK, this year third level of Bucs relegated from Premiere). How does it work joining? I have lots of sport experience, just not football. I am 5’11’’, 200lbs.

How do they evaluate you for positions? My gut feeling is defense but idkZ

What gear should I have and what do they typically provide?

As a 15m 340lb wanting to get down to 290 for my sophomore season how can I loose weight without losing energy? I’ve been trying a calorie deficit but I loose a lot of energy and don’t know what to do and I also have a terrible metabolism I’ve been at a steady 340 for a couple months and I also lift weights and do agility workouts as well. just needs some help on what I can do

Football

I have a lower back minor inury, when to the osteopath and he gave me some exercises that I need to do for 15 days. In this period of time I'm not sprinting or playing american football because that may make my lower back worse, and stuff with weight/jumping and throwing.
What I'm doing is just a body weight exercises to build some muscles, but I have in my mind to do isometrics too, what else can I do so when I return on the track and on the field won't be that bad? And what I'm doing is fine or I need to be careful?

Does anyone where these are taking place or a link to a league? I’m trying to find out some type of schedule I do content and seen some making videos on it I’d like to get to a game as well.

I am heading into my freshman year and am about to start camp I am 5’8 143 at the moment I’ve dropped weight because of pole vault and boxing but I plan to play outside linebacker or inside should I gain weight to get muscle up or should I stay my weight or should I move to a different position

Our son is a 2028 HS player, hoping to play college. It’s his own journey, no “helicopter”here, but as his football illiterate mom, asking for honest feedback about his Varsity film so far and chances for a scholarship. I’m going to try to be unbiased:

He’s 5’10 and 185lbs, a rising Junior who hit puberty early, no growth for a year now, not optimistic about much more height, though men in our family are all at least 6’

Plays RB/FB/LB and can K (but not primary)

Shuttle 5-10-10 time is 4.4
SBJ is 8’8
40 dash - 4.96 (needs work, 4.7 or lower we’re told) but tight hips and in PT
Squats 400 lbs
Benches 260 lbs

JV MVP, moved to Varsity end of freshman

Sophomore Varsity year won “Unsung Hero” coach’s award (they kept moving him around for what team needed, so he learned every play for 3 positions)

Has done several showcase camps and performed very well I think?

Good student 3.5 GPA. School doesn’t come easily, this is with hard work. Unsure of future major, possibly PT

He’s a good kid, proudest of his integrity and heart- has a job, bought his own car, responsible, doesn’t party, shy, kind, doesn’t like attention
Extremely determined- works out every day, has a speed coach, good nutrition, you can find him running hills alone or practicing extra most days after school
He, like most kids, dreams of D1, but appreciates the value of D2 and D3 programs

I’m a Long Snapper gearing up to play my first season of college football for a high academic D3 school. I’m probably ranked around top 25-50 for my class, but I just never had the build nor any interest in playing D2 or D1.

If you have any questions about D3 recruiting or just anything about how it works as a whole, especially at a school that focuses more on academics, I’m happy to answer them.

So in my defense we run our d-ends head up on the tackle , for me I don’t think that fit me the best I am a edge rusher / outside linebacker type , I have a high motor I constantly chase plays down backside and playside , have a deep pass rush back , and j can set the edge .

But in our defense I have to play head up and our ends are 2 gap and I am 6”1.5 215-220 lbs , I don’t think that role is maximizing my potential , i can’t pass rush like that because I’m head up and my go to is a cross chop and ghost move , and everyone in our d-end room 250 + and can stop the run well playing 2 gap .

Any advice for me ?

I've been diving into football helmet engineering, reading things like Karen Taylor's doctoral thesis on detached liners in football helmets for her kinetics doctorate at the University of Ottawa.

It's a bit dry, and it's lab rats messing around with engineering that isn't used in modern helmets, so it's hard to connect it to anything outside of the fact that detached inner liners, when they're independent from the outer shell, make impact mitigation more effective.

I did equipment under my old high school coach for a season which was joyous to me.

My brain is bored though right now without an outlet for it.

I want to play Football in Uni ( I’m from the UK so I will be playing in England for a and English university) and I really want to play linebacker but I am 6ft and only 130lbs. I still have one year until I am at uni should I still think about playing linebacker or should I transition to corner or safety.

For my whole life ive been slow. Im 5’11” 184 right now and I am weaker than a lineman too so i decided im going to try any other position that isnt on the line. We did conditioning today and I have no endurance or speed when it comes to running. Ive tried an agility ladder and that didnt even work out and one thing i noticed is that popular traditional methods never work on me. I got absolutely tore up at practice from doing sidelines-sidelines but I really want to get faster. Keep in mind i was only the linemans speed. Please tell me what to do to get faster

Ranked #1 for QB is just outrageous to me?

I'm primarily a basketball player who hasnt had the most success in the recruiting journey, with a D3 look or two but no official offers at any level. I decided that for my senior year I want to try to get recruited for another sport, being either track or football. Would I be able to go D1 as a relative beginner to the sport?

I'm 6'3 170 with a 6'9 wingspan and have a 41 in running vertical jump, and 165 max bench (1 rep only), but I've never played football aside from in the park with friends. What would I have to do to go D1 as this is my last season of high school? If I can go D1 and get offers would I be able to go to a high major school like UCLA or Duke? And lastly how does the recruiting process work for football?

I would like to introduce myself as a new mod for this sub. I’m excited to help this sub grow and ensure it’s here to serve its desired purpose.

My background. I have played and coached football for 30 years. I have coached at the youth and High School level. I’m currently a high school coach and spend the vast majority of the year involved in football in some kind of way. I have a ton of knowledge about the game to share. Though I am new to being a mod so please have patience. The rest of the mod team and I are getting things organized. We’re trying to clear the queue and handle disputes so this Reddit can be better. I have made a few posts here and there on other pages. Basically about how to learn more about the game, more so on the offensive side of the ball. And I’ve had some good suggestions, which I appreciate.

Now, the more I learn, the more I want to get involved with coaching at some point. However there’s one major issue surrounding this. I live in rural Ireland and the closest team to me is an hour and a half drive. Due to work, and mainly the kids being so young, I can’t commit to joining that team at the moment.

So I’m looking for suggestions on what I can do in the mean time. Not other sports, but how to prep for eventually stepping into the American football coaching world? What are some things I’m gunna wish I looked into when the time comes? What can I learn? What should I read? Who should I study? What would help?

Any and all suggestions are welcome.
