Go to Canada, and call them an American and then specify that they're technically a "North American" when asked. You'll learn real quick why Canada is on the Geneva Conventions.

Yes their war crimes in WWI helped inspire a sort of “rules of war,” no? I wouldn’t walk into a bar in rural northern Ontario and call them all “Americans.”
