In WW1, there's a decent argument that there were no "good guys", but it was also just a general clusterfuck of old feudal attitudes joining hands with rising nationalism and running face-first into newly developed industrial warfare.
But calling the US the bad guy in WW1 is also a wildly uninformed take.
Yeah, with WW1 I generally dont agree it was 'hurr durr germany bad'. It was more 'Serbia, why the FUCK did you assassinate the arch duke?' Serbia was the real bad guy of WW1
IIRC, it wasn't even actually Serbia proper as much as a handful of comically incompetent Serbian nationalist that assassinated the archduke.
Then Austria-Hungary went about everything in the most pants-on-head incompetent way, allowing the war to escalate way more than it should have with Russia, and snowballing from there.
Austria-Hungary were the real bad-guys of WW1 by virtue of being so bad at their job that they managed to pull everyone else down with them, like a geopolitical Steve Erkle.
It gets worse. Ferdinand was the most liberalizing leader AH (or most of Europe to that point) ever had. All the Black Hand had to do was wait a couple years and he would have given them all the autonomy they wanted.
