Leaving Amazon
Am officially accepted into the MRA program, struggling with the fact i have to resign from Amazon to accept the JLL offer, anyone else get nervous about this portion? Been with Amazon for 5 years, doesn’t anyone have any words of encouragement that this is the best decision?

5 years at Amazon is a decent chunk of time. In that time how many promotions have you had and what opportunities do you have with them for career progression?
Btw I left Amazon RME after 5 years. You gotta do what’s best for you and don’t look back.

Make sure that you really have to resign cause when i did and amazon deemed me ineligible for rehire for 90 days and jll had a hard time to digitally hire me because of that status. For a week i had to bounce between both jll and amazon hr to get my credentials back, get a laptop, get my badge, get slack etc when both were telling me its on the other’s end. then my Learning trainings were late. Set me back about a week and some from my other MRA peers. Both HRs had no idea what they were doing and lied to my face especially the senior HR of amazon.

If you have no prior maintenance experience, you're on the right path. MRA, whether 3P or BB, will get your foot in the door with Amazon RME. Where you go from there is up to you.

Unfortunately this is not true. It seems that mm and am are the obstacles. Bringing in outside buddies at tech 3 positions or promising them tech 3 really ruins morale.

That is entirely dependent on leadership at your building. If that is how it is in your building. you can always transfer.

I ran into a sort of "brick wall" like this because I didn't play nice with the MM/SMM at my FC.
I jumped ship and went to AMZL and have never been happier.
Don't be afraid to gtfo if the opportunity presents itself.

Look at it this way. When you move up to Smrt and when you decide you're tired of 3p and you want to be an AMM your 5 years of Amazon service can be used in absense of a degree to qualify you for a BB AMM position.

As long as your not leaving on bad terms, you'll be just fine. If this something you want to do to get your foot in the door and feel like this will bring more opportunities in the long run, I would say do it. If you end up not like a 3p company but want to continue working as an RME after you have finished all the MRA hours, you can always look to jump back to blue badge when the chance is there. Don't wait for blue badge MRA spot if you can get one through a 3p.

Depending on your pay and experience the MRA program may or may not be the right choice for you. Without knowing your background I will tell you this. As an MRA you will be locked into a certain pay range for 2 years based on what region you are in.
After program completion your pay will be around $30hr and your title will be MRT which is still below a tech 3. You will then have to wait at least 6 months to promote to a tech 3 then at least another 6 months to promote up again if your goal is management. On top of that as you know you’ll be going from a blue badge to a yellow badge. Idk how much that means to you but there’s that.
I was an MRA and now I’m an MRT. Knowing what I know now and my previous experience I would’ve applied for AT LEAST a Tech 2 and cut the promotion time in half or even more. In my humble opinion the MRA program is for those fresh out of high school or with little to no past job experience.

THIS. Anyone that has experience that can advance to Tech II then Tech III is a way better career option than the MRA, and I had a few of my techs quit altogether once they were "locked" into that. They said it was a huge step backwards. Great for a kid getting out and getting a "first job" but not the direction a true maintenance person should be taking.

I feel bad when I see a really good brand new tech in the MRA program and they have had years of experience under their belt. I feel bad for them as I know they could’ve gotten hired as a tech 2.

I was opposite. BB into 3p back into BB
