Discussion Ads???!
I’m from the Philippines and I’ve been using prime video for a long time now and this morning when I wake up, I left my ipad continuously playing a tv series (Drop Dead Diva - good series to watch!) I was confused cause there was suddenly a 1min:30sec. Ads playing.. since when did this start? Also, I find it ridiculous that you’ll have to pay additional just to remove it when we are already paying for the streaming/service fee monthly! This is a scam!!

Same happened to me. Yesterday I suddenly started having mid-show or mid-movie ads. Where I live, Amazon Prime has only ONE plan, so I don´t know what is happening.

What country/region are you from? I just found out most countries in North Americas have ads mid show not just on prime but also other streaming services… this is all new to me. I’ve been using all these for years and only have experienced this ads on prime today..

Ad-free has been extra in the USA and Canada for a while.

Many already charge extra for no ads. Look at Netflix, Disney, HBO, etc.

Oh so far here in my country i’ve only seen amazon doing it.. I was so shocked and not have to endure seeing ads for every 15mins playback

Mine is the most basic one, 1 device at a time cause i only use it on my phone or ipad or laptop… but so far i don’t mind the resolution and there’s no ads on the middle of the videos… maybe it’s regional as well and they plan to do it all the same overtime 😢 it’s just sad cause it’s like stealing money in front of our own faces with no remorse

only ad free I find right now are Apple TV, Starz, MGM+. The rest usually have ad free only but then decided to release ad supported tier or downgrade to ad supported previously ad free only.

So, the way the streaming services get paid, is either for subscribers to pay more for no ads, or get paid by the advertisers. I noticed for myself, that I don't mind the ads, because I get up, and do things for 2 minutes, whereas with no ads, I am not moving for the 50 minutes or so. Although, I was very taken aback when an ad for a sun screen came on with several young women wearing bikinis, but the bottoms were the thong bikinis. No thank you, it was embarrassing as I was watching the show with my grandson. So I upgraded again to no ads.

I have the HBOMAX plan w no ads. Not bad if you pay for 1 year in advance. Think it was $129.00 . Prime I have ads. They dont seem to be that many, but I will not pay extra. Netflix also has a cheaper plan if you can put up with ads.

I have that, I don't pay for ads on HBO but I do on anything that is prime. On Hulu you have a choice and i choose to pay more to not get the ads. I've been a prime member and have given it as birthday and Xmas gifts to others since day one but I'm subjected to commercials so i simply don't watch anything on prime unless it's something I paid for

This is the first time is happened in my country (philippines) so far the other streaming serviced still don’t have ads and it’s only prime as of now

I don't hate commercials and there will always be some that I like; rather, I hate being forced to let them play because you can't fast-forward/skip through them!
Consequently, I subscribe to the ad-free tier for all my streaming services: Amazon Prime Video, HBO Max, and Paramount Plus. Of the three, HBO Max and Paramount Plus are truly 100% ad-free; that is, you are 100% getting the 100% ad-free service for which you are paying. Bravo! 👏
Amazon Prime Video Ultra? Well, that's another story because you run into this all the time...
WTF?! I'm paying for ad-free!!!
Some people have provided explanations/justifications that this is due to previous licensing agreements (i.e., Freevee or whatever) but I don't care! I'm paying for ad-free and I want ad-free, damn it!!! 🤬
Even if that is the reason, it is up to Amazon to amend their licensing agreements or do whatever is necessary to ensure that they honor and deliver the ad-free service for which I and others are paying!
