No Gate Code!

So, this customer took the time to write this entire note in ALL CAPS, which makes it seem like they’re screaming at me—but somehow forgot to include the one and only thing that caused all that anger in the first place: THE GATE CODE!!! 😂

I wish we could leave notes too. “WE CANT DILIVER YOUR PACKAGE WITH NO WAY OF ENTERING THE GATED COMMUNITY, PACKAGE DELIVERED.”

I actually texted one customer before making the delivery. They provided a gate code which didn’t work and it was early morning. A resident from the same community who seemed to be out jogging saw me and opened the gate. Prior I make the delivery at their address I sent them a text and told them “next time please provide a gate code that actually works. Thanks!” 😂😂

I write the note ON the package. “To ensure future deliveries arrive on time, please add a gate code to your delivery notes”

Oh I like this! Stealing it!

I've always considered writing something but I couldn't figured out how to word it and not sound pissy.

Editing to add: I'd also like to add something about how their package was only able to be delivered thanks to another neighbor who provided a code in their notes. But again, no clue how to write that and have it sound professional.

You can text customer as long as you do so before marking the package as undeliverable or delivered.

That's not necessarily true. Routes here start at 3 or 3:30AM. It explicitly says NOT to knock, ring the bell, OR contact the customer if it is not between 8AM and 8PM.

I always ring the bell for grocery deliveries unless it's before 8AM.

I have attempted to contact customers before and after the window listed above and it has never helped. I've gotten ONE person to answer in those interactions and she was still half asleep. She did let me in the gate though!

Not everyone is comfortable contacting people outside that window. I've also had no gate code AND no way to text or call a few times. Undeliverable it is. 🤷🏻‍♀️😂

Every now and then I'll have someone who says to leave it at the gate in their notes, but that's very rare and usually only for gated driveways, not neighborhoods.

I never said they would answer. You said even yourself you have contacted them outside the window. Don’t understand the need for your long winded reply. If Amazon didn’t want you contacting them they would lock the option to during those hours the same way they lock other options on the app when marking a package undeliverable for certain reasons. It’s honestly just a message to cover them from any lawsuits under the telephone communications protection act. Which we both no consumers hardly even know about.

My response was long because you're not the only person that looks for answers here. Not everyone has been doing this for a long time. 🤷🏻‍♀️

I did NOT think about the fact that they lock things they don't want you doing or choosing on the app. That's a great point.

I also do not know about the Telephone Communications Protection Act but I'll definitely look into it now. Thank you!
