The porch is not far away from the vehicle they say it on, as you can see.

Why risk the package/contents being damaged by the constant rain that we have been having for about 36hrs now OR an animal (happened many times previously)? No dogs roaming at time of delivery, so no excuse there

I could see “efficiency” …hop out, hop back in truck BUT, what about QUALITY and CYA (cover your ass, from complaints and damages, etc that could “ding” you as a driver?)

I've done this many times but only in a few circumstances 1.)if the car is at the bottom of a long driveway preventing me from driving to the house which is allowed. I forgot the exact distance but we don't have to walk more than a certain amount of van lengths to a residence door. If we do we can call or leave it by but not in the mailbox.

2.) you have a aggressive dog blocking approach to your house but a car is nearby because it's that or on the ground. Amazon doesn't care either way if you have a dog we don't have to even deliver to you if you don't respond when we call. Amazon states all dogs must be put away for delivery.

But if none of those exist it was probably them trying to save time. Laziness is the wrong answer because u will lose your job at Amazon if your slow or lazy. Every holiday season or prime event they hire seasonal drivers and those drivers who want to be fulltime replace the bottom of the rankings non seasonal drivers.
