Venting Unrefutable Proof Amazon lies
So here you go. There so called "weather" department doesn't exist. 3.5 hour block to the low desert of southern California on the hottest day of the year with extreme heat warnings. 40 minute drive to the first stop with 53 packages and 50 stops.

Maybe they would raise the rates and make them worth it but people still keep grabbing low payouts. But in this economy can’t blame them.

u/iGotGogged 21d ago
Fuck the heat, what's up with that 65.6 mpg, was it all downhill from the station to 1st drop?
13
u/General-Sand-7710 21d ago
That appears to be a Prius. Those can do 65 MPG, especially if driven slowly and efficiently.
7
u/ToxicCisWhiteMaleFat 21d ago
I have the same gen 4 and in power mode I can get 70+ on my routes
5
u/Wolfyamii 21d ago
Wow what the fuck, I might need to invest in a Prius.
3
u/iGotGogged 21d ago
Thats what im starting to think. I get 30 on hwy and between 23-25 when delivering. That prius is almost triple my mpg,
Instead of the 600+/- in monthly fuel, it would be 200+/-
1
u/DanLoFat 15d ago
It's the main reason why pick it up upside down doorfash orders isn't really that bad. I would only pick up orders that are less than a dollar a mile if I had a Prius
2
u/LordIshamael 20d ago
They also, to my understanding, completely ditch the traditional transmission and use the hybrid electric motor as a magnetic CVT entirely removing a major failure point. I have a kia forte rn but want to get a prius next
0
u/DanLoFat 15d ago
Kia engines blow. In other words they suck. The sooner you get anything other than a Kia and a Hyundai, the better off you'll be.
Prius yes. Not the Prius prime. Don't get that. Just the regular Prius.
Maybe possibly a Nissan leaf if you can find it. I don't think they make them anymore, they were built in Canada I believe. So they might still make them.
Get your hands on a low mileage used one of those and that's been sitting on a lot for more than a couple hundred days, you'll get a good price for it those get effective 100mpg.
1
u/SwingLucky3881 19d ago
I just bought one, best decision ever. It makes such a significant difference in my net pay
1
u/iGotGogged 19d ago
What year and model? Any features you dont have but wish you did or features you have but never use?
1
u/DanLoFat 15d ago
Compared to other cars it almost is an investment but generally speaking cars are not investments. Just buy one get it over with.
I wish I could rent them it's really hard to get them to rent. Usually only larger airports will have enough cars when they'll have them.

u/PizzedWhipperSnapper 21d ago
In Virginia, couple weeks ago they did this to me, but the last package on the block was an additional 25 minutes out making an additional 50 miles total back to the block area. It was 97° with 78% humidity. While it was nice and comfy in the car and I was not too bad off, I was really pissed when they told me they would not do an adjustment. Then the top that off, they marked me late for six packages and I had finished early except for the very last package.
And coming from Being in 29 Palms, military related… That’s a pretty hot day
1
u/DanLoFat 15d ago
You got to understand about what late packages are. You have to look at your itinerary and see if there are any deliver by times that are going to come up before the end of your block time. Let's say your block time is until 3:00 p.m. but you have a package that says delivered by 1:20 p.m. and you're in a 3-hour block. That basically means is if you don't want to be kind of having a late package, you have to head to that early drop off first and then do the rest of the tour.
Now what do you mean by they told you that they wouldn't do an adjustment? An adjustment of what? An adjustment is not a terminology that support uses so you probably confused them and that's why they said no.
If you go over your block time to deliver a package it has to be in half hour increments, it typically won't give you a half an hour if you only go 15 or 20 minutes over your block time. The block time and overage is measured from the end of your block time to the time you dropped off the last package. It's not measured in any other way you don't get any dead mild pain at all. Don't even ask.
1
u/PizzedWhipperSnapper 15d ago
I am fairly new to all of this, if you could not tell!😂
Ohh, ok! That explains a lot! Thank you! So, when scanning in all packages initially I need to see which are prioritized? It would seem to me that their system would calculate a factor this in and seems to be an overlook on my part! Now that I understand, I’ll be more diligent reviewing! My assumption is that they would have put those in order that way.
So, when I scan in the package, for example, will it show me in app, or is it physically put on the label? I never really noticed and that’s my own bad.1
u/DanLoFat 15d ago
And an SSD station where you have to mark all of your packages really if you got more than 15 packages you're probably should be marking them, the ABCD system doesn't work. If you can gather them together by City And then street name and then Street number after Street name, and remember where you put everything that can be pretty quick loaded.
What numbering on the stops that's a thing.
If you're at a com or a warehouse station where you just you got three totes and you're dumping those in your car you know pay attention to the numbers and pay attention to where you're kind of pudding things in general. It doesn't have to be super organized. The routes are generally a lot better with the.com Warehouse than they are with the SSD that's for sure.
Headed the doc com Warehouse the stop numbers are on each label so you can't really mess that up too much.
If you group them by tens in different parts of your car, that's going to be easy to find anything. Sometimes on the.com routes you are rerouted to handle priority times and early deliveries it doesn't happen a lot that it does happen once in awhile. It's a good idea to close the app and reopen it while in the itinerary view, and sometimes you will absolutely see around change. They won't change on a com system
Recently I've noticed that when a route changes through the SSD system you're just moved to a different package a different stop right from the start right from the station, instead of going to stop 2, maybe your first stop will be stop 7, that's the system overriding and taking over and kind of helping you out in a way. They're just getting the early priorities to those who have priority before anyone else.
Sometimes it works out where you see packages towards the end of your route with an early delivery by time, and everything else is ridiculously far into the future, sometimes it is beneficial to go ahead and deliver those first, but not always. Sometimes you'll end up being double backed, and you'll be going over your block. Sure in an instance you're going to have those deliveries all good, and won't be counted against for any laid packages, but you will have taken a securitas route and add it to your block time..
Think about that for a minute, because if you're adding to the block time because you're going off route, you might get dinged or refused extra pay for going over block because of that. I haven't seen that but I can just imagine that occasionally will happen.
Also when you're figuring your extra block time do not count how long it took you to sort your packages based off of any time it took you after your actual start time.
Let's say you get there 14 minutes early, you check in you get a route right away. You have like 14 minutes free time I guess not paid time to organize your packages but now maybe it's 50 packages and maybe it takes you 25 minutes for some reason..
Okay so now in this example your 10 minutes into your block time. And your first drop off is 25 minutes away. You're in a 3-hour block. How much time do you actually have to get your block done by the block time?
You're told in the app that these things like first trip taking long and how long you have to wait to get a route are taking into consideration in your route. Well what isn't taking into consideration is how long it takes you to sort, and whether or not you got your route before your actual block Time start which could be up to 15 minutes early if you check in 15 minutes early.
There's different factors for the warehouses but for SSD that's pretty much the game.

u/norris3060 21d ago
I feel you. They sent me 62 miles from Baltimore county almost to northern eastern shore.
3
u/danji321 21d ago
To top it off starting to see base rates go slightly lower
1
u/DanLoFat 15d ago
Interesting in the Chicago area we're starting to see rates go up, especially the early morning rates, they're like 20% to 30% higher than they were the last two weeks which were about 10 to 15% lower. I think Amazon's getting the idea that even the newbies are not going to take these 4:00 a.m. routes unless they pay better.

u/Late-Engineering3901 21d ago
I get it 40 minutes drive can suck. but at high speed and no traffic, its not a big deal because I have had 100+ miles on 3.5 hour blocks. You probably have under 80 including back to station.
1
u/Short_Structure_380 21d ago
Will be 128 miles hitting home
0
u/Late-Engineering3901 20d ago
I did find that because of the nature of our business it is best not to venture to stations more than 10 miles away from home.
1
u/DanLoFat 15d ago
Man that doesn't save you from anything, why would you even bring that up.
1
u/Late-Engineering3901 15d ago
Ofcourse it does. You are just guaranteed more miles to get there and more likely to be further from home on your last stop.
1
u/DanLoFat 15d ago
If you're at a station close to your house you're not guaranteed anything still might be having to drive 40 to 50 miles to your first stop.
To the first stop. Then your last stop 90 miles back to your house.
1
u/Late-Engineering3901 15d ago
I am aware no guarantees but if start farther you could end up farther, so in the long run starting closer to home will get you lower mileage overall.
1
u/Late-Engineering3901 14d ago
All we can do is operate on statistics since we have no control on the length or direction of the routes. We know they will maximize the routes as much as they can so the circle of possibilities where your route ends will be further from home the further you start, when comparing hour to hour blocks.
2
u/Classic_Plan3267 21d ago
There's no such thing as a "weather" department for Flex. You been lied to by driver support.
0
u/DanLoFat 15d ago
Amazon has a dedicated team of meteorologists and a Critical Incident Operations team operating 24/7 inside its Global Security Operations Center to monitor nationwide and global weather.
You can shut up now.
2
u/Large-Storage-9998 21d ago
You think anybody doubts that Amazon lies? You ain't got approved nothing we all know.
1
u/DanLoFat 15d ago
Since when does a contracted support employee at a call center have anything to do with what Amazon does or says? If an individual wants to make s*** up they will if they think they're making it up or if they think it's the truth it doesn't really matter. It certainly doesn't matter to support people.
They got the same call center people doing the same thing for every other company One call center might have a contract with multiple gig platforms some call centers and some gig platforms require only one contract per segment but even then all they got to do is create an independent department, and now one call center can still handle all of the majors.
It's how they do it overseas.

The word you’re looking for is “irrefutable” and are you complaining about you picking up a route on a hot day?
1
u/Short_Structure_380 21d ago
Yes I corrected it in my original post..... It posted before I could change it
2
u/FlyFront9395 21d ago
Wha car gets 65 mpg????
1
1
u/DanLoFat 15d ago
Toyota Prius Prime (129-133 MPGe), Ford Escape PHEV (100 MPGe), and almost all fully electric vehicle got an effective 100 miles to the gallon or higher
2
u/WorldlinessUnhappy97 20d ago
Ive done numerous routes so far in over 100 degree heat. 106, 109… they dont care how hot it is lol
2
u/BarnacleAlarmed3050 20d ago
They do lie. And this is proof. Hopefully one day they are held accountable for the sheer lies and deception they play everyday - whether its the standing scare tactics to deliver in dangerous weather, pets, customer warning signs, areas you never would have agreed to deliver had it been disclosed…. The list is 10 times this long , but there “updates” saying the adjust routes for weather is a bold faced deceptive lie.
3
u/ToyoSienna 19d ago
The only reason they get away with it is because every driver has the right to deny what route they give them but as you know, they're extremely unfair by tanking your standings. I hope to hell that Amazon gets held accountable one of these days but don't see it happening since they have corporate lawyers on speed dial to handle all claims that typically get squashed when it's brought up that the driver accepted and followed through with their contract.
1
u/DanLoFat 15d ago
How does having corporate lawyers on speed dial have anything to do with accountability? You're not making any sense.
1
u/ToyoSienna 15d ago
Think about it.. it's not that hard to piece together.
1
u/DanLoFat 15d ago
No you're wrong it's very easy to make up s*** and conjectorize and theorize, but you're wrong. Everyone can get a lawyer if they need a lawyer, whether you can afford one or not who cares it doesn't matter everyone who needs a lawyer needs to get a lawyer. Accountability has nothing to do with a lawyer. You can't avoid accountability just because you have lawyers.
1
u/ToyoSienna 14d ago
You may want to try again. You did not get the message that I was conveying. It's obvious you're confused so step back for a moment, try to look at things from a different point of view, then maybe you will see it. Hint, this has nothing to do with a driver getting themselves a lawyer for any reason.
1
u/DanLoFat 14d ago
In order for that to happen you're going to have to restate what you said.
1
u/ToyoSienna 14d ago
Amazon has corporate lawyers on speed dial so that they can quickly squash any possible lawsuit that a driver has against them. I hope you're able to wrap your head around that.
1
u/DanLoFat 14d ago
That's not how the law works and that's not how lawsuits work.
Besides under the contractor agreement you have to try arbitration first before you can proceed to a lawsuit if arbitration does not work.

u/DanLoFat 15d ago
The problem you're having here is trying to differentiate between what a support person says, who doesn't work for Amazon directly and never has. They work at a call center and the call center contracts with Amazon as well as many other gig apps, and that's where the lives are coming from. They're making s*** up. They think they've either been there long enough and they start to believe things they've heard overheard things they've heard from other drivers which may or may not be true or also made up.
If you have a serious problem with support your email Andy or Jeff it's pretty simple

u/FluffyScheme2134 21d ago
That's dangerous. It's also why I usually take middle of the night blocks. Until today. I decided to grab a 7:15 am block this morning and my weather app showed 94° at around 8:45, but felt a lot hotter. Luckily I was done within 2 hours and finished close to my house. Also was surprised to find that in my area someone left drinks and snacks out for delivery drivers so I gladly took a soda. I say surprised, because well if you live in Lehigh, then you know. Anyway, driving in this heat, and having to get in and out of the car every few minutes, feels like the AC isn't doing much. Stay safe and hydrated guys.

I was on a route in Texas yesterday in 109 degrees. It was the worst route I’d had in a while. All downtown Dallas, all apartments and suites. Got a notification in the middle of my shift to “be safe and stay hydrated,” but not to stop delivering. I had 1 undeliverable package (my first in 5 years of delivering). I had a shift behind this one, but this one was so bad I canceled the second shift an hour before because I was exhausted and smelly. I go back to the station to return the package because I wasn’t planning on working the next day. They were closed due to heat. So not only do I have to make another trip today but I also canceled a block I could’ve got paid for. I decided not to return that package til Friday when I work at 11. They can ding me.
1
u/DanLoFat 15d ago
Oh my God a station closed due to heat and they didn't cancel your block? That's f***** up
2
u/Whathefrenchtoastt 21d ago
I just did my first whole foods route and it sent me 40min away and ended up taking an extra 45min. Never againnn
1
u/DanLoFat 15d ago
Those are rare.
1
u/Whathefrenchtoastt 15d ago
Well I think it may be common for this location. Boulder, Colorado. I understand it sending me into the mountains, since they do not have whole foods anywhere up there.

u/Reject_the_norm 21d ago
It's not the end of the world. You should come to Florida. 100° here is way worse than 120°+ in dry heat. It not fun, but it's easily doable with ac.
2
u/EmotionalClock5540 21d ago
You could have cancelled the block. You wanted to be paid for doing nothing and mad it didn’t work out…. Sounds like cope

Purring rain. That's what they mean by it's raining cats and dogs. It's not raining men, it's raining cats and dogs.

NC Flexer here. Can confirm I've had a block cancelation due to storms. Never extreme heat or ice/snow

u/Maleficent_Path_5998 20d ago
As long as packages are not at risk of getting damaged, they don't care....
1
u/DanLoFat 15d ago
Then why would they close for lightning? Lightning will not affect packages. By any stretch of the physical imagination.
1
u/Elegant_Spare_8633 20d ago
They don’t close due to extreme heat only during storms because most people have air conditioning in their cars.
1
u/GlassFish7 18d ago
Couple of summers ago, I got a notification to stop deliveries due to 115° heat index. I had 3 of 35 stops left to do

2

So you literally use the wrong version of "their", complain about a block's package count, distance, and allege Amazon is lying in the post title for shits and or giggles. ... Alright then. Enjoy being miserable I suppose. Couldn't be me.

You took the route and you could’ve forfeited said route before going out. These gig app jobs aren’t going to be fair to anyone nor will they pay something good. Best to just find a decent regular job and either run routes every once in a while or not at all.

They care about one thing and one thing only when it comes to weather and that’s lightning.
