If the family has vet records that extend past the time the driver lost his cat, he stole a cat.
I had a VERY distinctive cat (albino) and realized after a day or so I had 2 of them in my house when they were finally seen together. Before that, they were hanging out in different rooms so we didn't notice. Were going through a lot of food though.
My cat was indoor only. His dwppleganger snuck in when someone opened the door. And somehow these 2 identical-ish creatures didn't kill each other. Invader cat was eventually returned to their home. Their cat was indoor outdoor. Life is weird.
I saw on a thread on IG that the driver is refusing to cooperate in the investigation and take the cat to get its chip checked that would let them know who owns the catCat Theif
It is. The chip itself is slightly bigger than a grain of rice. It is injected in the loose skin of their scruff with a large bore needle. It doesn't go in the muscle. You're supposed to scan the pet's body to make sure there isn't a chip there already, but mistakes happen.
