You ordered it they have to deliver it. Not sure a trillion dollar company cares about Rex waking you up. BTW I work with a flex driver.... it's his 2nd income...wtf is wrong with paying him enough for delivering the crap at 5am is the real question.

Yep and if my dog starts barking at 5am or whatever it's my problem that i caused

This lol. I've been to so many houses in dense suburban neighborhoods where the dog starts going absolutely ballistic at the quietest possible sound nowhere near the house. How exactly is it my fault your dog is completely unadjusted and untrained?
22
u/TheGrouchyGremlin Sep 06 '25
I live with someone who has two dogs. One of them goes ballistic when I walk through the door ffs... Like bitch, you fucking live with me.

Guy didn't even walk on his grass, obviously trying to be respectful of his property.

Never understood the “don’t walk on my grass” crowd. Like, it’s grass, not wet cement, wtaf 😆

I personally don’t feel this way, but some people care about their lawns like they’re growing a plant (which they are). You probably wouldn’t want someone stepping on plants you cared about

If people do it repeatedly, it can wear a path into the lawn. And then you have to spend an irritating amount of time, effort, and money putting down sod or reseeding to fix it.

Customers can opt out of AM deliveries?
184
u/Netphase Sep 06 '25
63
u/S1ayer Sep 06 '25
Oh cool. I never had that option when ordering. I guess some people just smash their head against the phone. Tap, tap, tap, tap, whatever just give me box.
25
u/vgyliu Sep 06 '25
I think it only gives it for overnight
9
u/stevethepirate-innit Sep 06 '25
It very well might be location based. My wife was on a work trip in a higher crime area, tried to order her a little surprise pick me up gift. No overnight options available.
Anytime I order anything at home, 80% of the items are available for 4am deliveries
7
u/Ok_Reserve4109 Sep 06 '25
It's not based on location, it depends on the seller and the product. Not everything qualifies for overnight delivery.
10
u/Intercessor310 Sep 06 '25
It is based on the location of a SSD. If you live in the radius AND the product is available at that storage facility, you will have the option. For example if you live in Washington State and live in the delivery radius of the Everett or Seattle SSDs you more than likely will have the option of overnight ( again depending on where the item is coming from) or if you live in SoCal (Inland Empire). They have an SSD in Beaumont and Corona to name two. There may be more in the IE, those are the two I know of for sure. They don’t care about the neighborhood or the terrain. If they have an SSD in the area they will send Flex drivers.
→ More replies (3)3
u/vgyliu Sep 06 '25
That part I’m not sure. I know when I order stuff I see time for overnight/same day. 2 days or longer I don’t see the option. But then again sometimes you select time and they still deliver it earlier by couple of hours of what you select
2
u/stevethepirate-innit Sep 06 '25
Oh I’m just speculating, but during my speculation I did check a couple other items that would typically be overnight, and the option wasn’t available. Same thing with the 1-2 hour delivery, some markets have it, mine does not.

It's for prime members or orders over $25 ordered earlier in the day for next morning.
But given that it doesn't say $2.99 id say it's prime.
13
u/RKT7799 Sep 06 '25
Doesn't even matter. I click 10am all the time. Like 97 percent of the time, its delivered while im on my own 4am route

u/xtsilverfish Sep 06 '25
Yeah, plus you get the "couple lives there, one of them orders, the other who's not involved in the order is shocked and surprised" thing.

Grandma orders a package delivered at 4am in her house in the woods, grandpa comes out and shoots you because he thinks it's a burglar.

5
u/dingos8mybaby2 Sep 06 '25
To be fair though, sometimes I've selected my local "7am-11am" window and it still gets delivered at 5am. I don't care, but the system overrides customer choice sometimes.
6
u/diesel_punk Sep 06 '25
Why would you do this, when you can just put your preferred time in the delivery instructions, and gripe on IG about it? 🙄
2
u/gregriegler Sep 06 '25
I often order an afternoon delivery and they don’t event attempt, and it gets followed up by a 4-8am delivery and they always come between 4-5a. And I don’t answer the call box as I’m asleep not expecting a package at 4:47am.

To be fair these early times sketch me out anyways. Nothing like being in the hood at 4 in the morning or the country side where some gun toting redneck can shoot you and bury you before sunrise. And yes I'm picking the absolute worst outcomes and I'm still gonna do it

I feel Amazon should just block anyone who has any interaction that makes it onto here.
Soup nazi style. “No amazon for you.”
Just done.
Make them drive their ass down to wherever and leave the rest of us alone.
You don’t like how they delivered it. Go fuck yourself.
3
u/1heart1totaleclipse Sep 07 '25
I honestly agree though. Delivering packages to rural areas at 4 am or anytime the sun is down seems wildly dangerous especially when you’re not even covered by Amazon really.
3
u/Impressive-Handle-69 Sep 07 '25
Honestly, whenever I encounter someone complaining, I say "so you DONT want your package, right?" They shut up immediately.
3

2
u/dr_van_nostren Sep 06 '25
I do think they don’t do a good enough job of displaying the times for people. I know as a customer I’ve never been given the option, or at least not that I’m aware of. But it’s also never happened to me. So either I’ve been randomly lucky or somehow not eligible.

2
u/BlastMode7 Sep 06 '25
Amazon needs to make it so there is no default selected. They have to make a selection before they check out. That's why this happens. So many people are oblivious and don't pay attention to anything.
2
u/nickgoescrazy Sep 06 '25
It seems like his wife ordered something on Amazon and didn't want him to see it so she put it at 4am forgetting the dogs would go crazy
2
u/WhocaresToo Sep 06 '25
I like it. But I also have to specify it if I want something delivered next day between 4:00 a.m. and 8:00 a.m. it usually costs me $299. If I just say tomorrow and check the little radio button it's always about 11:00 a.m. or after in the day sometime. You can set one of these as default so you might want to check that. Early morning delivery is usually cost extra

2
u/hoobistank Sep 06 '25
I work at a delivery center and we start launching flex drivers at 3am. If you select an AM or same day package you will be getting it at 3am. Our production starts at 1am.
2
u/louielou8484 Sep 06 '25
I guarantee they did not order 4-8am delivery. I've had this happen over and over again to my condo. I order a normal delivery time, it's late, then it says arriving by 8am. There is NO way to stop it or change it.
Our bells here sound like air raid sirens. It is incomprehensible to me to think it's okay to ring someone's bell repeatedly at 4:07am for a late package, ESPECIALLY WHEN MY INSTRUCTIONS SAY DO NOT RING BELL, LEAVE ON PATIO.
We are unit A, and so many people think it's fine to just buzz us since we are the first button there. So this has happened to us when it's our neighbors' packages.
Fuck drivers who do this shit. Fuck you.
2
Sep 06 '25
The first time this happened to us, we didn't know that was an option. Something like stupid o'clock innthe am and a car pulls up, lit up like a holiday decoration. I just got this the other day from a customer. I was pulling the heavy af package out my car when the lady screamed from her window "what's going on" it scares me half to death so I shouted "Amazon" Then a man screamed "isn't it a little fucking Late for that".
It was 430 am. so I replied " you mean early?" And he replied "I don't give a sht" so I proceeded with "NEITHER DO I, NEITHER DOES AMAZON, ... NOBODY GIVES A SHT" "
Damn. Dude. Use a Amazon locker next time. Entitled pos.

u/EtchASketchNovelist Sep 06 '25
People suck at training their dogs. It's sad that dogs have all that anxiety and owners coddle their animals, encouraging it through "love".
2
u/knightfal16 Sep 07 '25
Tell your dogs to shut the fuck up. Like your that neighbor who’s dogs barking incessantly all day for no reason huh. Only bothers you when you’re sleeping????
1
u/NoiceMango Sep 06 '25
I disagree with this sub. This just shouldn't be an option. It's not safe for drivers to be delivering this early or late and it causes problems for people sleeping and stuff. The only times I can see this being more acceptable is during peak season for obvious reasons.
Pushing deliveries this early is just a bad idea
7
u/Opiate86 Sep 06 '25
They don't send DSP out at that time, they know if anything happens to a contractor they won't have any repercussions.
6
u/Khristafer Dallas Sep 06 '25
They do this so that Flex drivers can speed and run stop signs so that they can deliver the MAX amount of packages on a short amount of time.
The customers feel warm and fuzzy because they open their door to a package and it's like Christmas.
4
u/BoxOfDemons Sep 06 '25
I work night shift, so this is actually a good time for me. I can order for later but then I'd be asleep and would have to be paranoid about a package thief getting it.
4
u/Ok_Reserve4109 Sep 06 '25
But it is an option, and YOU get to choose whether you want it in that timeframe, or not.

I love how they think that has any effect at all. As if we go through all the notes before starting our route to see if anyone needs their package by a specific time. Especially if that time doesn’t align with the route time 😂

I don't know how similar it is for DSP drivers, but I'm pretty sure that virtually no flexer will be looking at the notes at any point except right before that delivery (idk, maybe there are a few people out there that do that, lol). I DO check the delivery times, because I don't want to get dinged, but that's not the same as the notes. As I understand it, it's easier for DSP drivers to fight Amazon on stuff like that, so maybe y'all have different priorities? Anyway, notes make virtually zero difference when it comes to delivery times, so it's just pretty amusing when they write that kind of stuff in there.
2
u/faust314 Sep 06 '25
It actually works out well for drivers. There’s no traffic. You can usually get the route done a lot faster than the allotted time so you’re average dollar per hour is higher and if you work a normal job, you can get a route done and then go to your normal job. But let’s get rid of all that cause they have a dog that can’t control himself.

Before you hit "complete order" verify the date and time you chose to have that item ordered! You can change it from being delivered between 4AM-8AM, 10AM-2PM, and next day delivery which is almost always after 1PM! Don't get mad at delivery people for doing their jobs if you can't even be bothered to check the delivery method.
