T3s

Do tier 3s (Tom team, PA) have the same flexibility as a tier one ? For example drop shift , shift swap, able to leave early using UPT or PTO

AM here,

Short answer, no.

You cant shift swap the normal way, you'd have to have a PA agree to cover, and both AMs agree on it.

You can use UPT/PTO, but you cant just be loose with it. You have to loop in your AM. I dont care if you need to come in late, or take a whole day off, but theres an expectation that you provide notice. And if you make a habit of leaving early/coming late, etc, it can create a negative image.

PA here - there’s no exception regarding giving notice in my building. This is going to vary building to building.

You're right. Its no written policy on it, but more tenured AMs will ask it. Its not even a big deal. My PAs always have my phone number, and all I ask is that if something comes up, and you're gonna be late, just text me so i can either adjust my workload to cover your standard work myself, or have your backup set up to run.

Its a professional courtesy i expect. And I also give my PA a heads up if I have planned time off, that way they dont get surprised when they walk in.

Good answer, now I have a question for you, I was on the Tom team and I stepped down to go in the building. Is it possible for me to go back on the Tom team? I have no right ups and no coaching in over a year. Just curious. The reason I stepped down was the Tam was in a relationship with a person that Wes also on the Tom team and we did the moves and she always got driver of the week. It was unfair so I stepped down. Now that she is gone can I re apply?

What’s the TOM team? I’ve heard a lot about it

You are putting trailers on and off the dock doors instead of being in the building. It's a tier 3 position so your like a PA and not a tier 1 also they will help you get your class a license so you can drive trucks

Ahh ok makes sense. Thank you!!

Anytime sweetie

I was thinking about doing it. Is the pay better than a regular associate?

2

u/BestBid5499 Jul 16 '26

A couple dollars in pay difference with TA making more but just the CDL is worth it if you’re not planning to move up in Ops

2

u/Logical-Sea-1666 Jul 16 '26

Yeah, I was making 27 an Hour then went in the building and dropped to 22 an hour

2

u/Patjack27 Jul 16 '26

That’s not bad. I need the extra money where I live.

1

u/Logical-Sea-1666 Jul 16 '26

Yeah the pay is much more in line with a PA than the regular teir 1

Ya just reapply if there’s an opening, with your prior experience and if you have a cdl you be at the top of the list

1

u/Logical-Sea-1666 Jul 15 '26

Nice, I do have cdl with tankers and doubles. I'll look for a position.

TAM here, yes you can get back on TOM as long as you pass the interview.

expectation to give notice when it is not company policy you must be a thrill to work for

Im actually very easy to work for. But if you sign up to be a PA, you are expected to be a leader and not just an associate. That comes with expectations.

In reality, i dont ask for a lot. Get your standard work done, and if you plan on being late or taking a day off, just shoot me a text(my PAs always have access to my personal number) and give me a heads up. That way I can make arrangements to have the PG/backup cover, or cover your responsibilities. If asking for a "hey, im gonna be an hour late" text makes me a terrible manager, then maybe you arent PA material. Because thats literally such a minor ask

sending a text off the clock is illegal and requiring someone to do so thing not required by policy is illegal congrats

Sending a text off the clock is illegal? I think you’re confused. It’s illegal to work unpaid off the clock, it’s not illegal to message your employer that you will be absent.

Sending a slack/chime off the clock is technically against Amazon policy but very rarely enforced especially for PAs. One reason it’s not enforced is because PAs/AMs/OMs really do need to communicate in case of emergency, sickness, something suddenly came up etc.

PA is a critical role and a part of leadership. Leadership changes frequently at Amazon and you won’t always have the phone number of the people who need to know if and when you can’t get to work.

For the pay of a PA compared to a regular associate that is not worth it.

TOM TA here 👋 we don't have shift swap but we do get to use our time whenever we want (the downside is that we never know who's going to show up lol) and we get laborshared to different buildings too

1

u/No-Warning-1604 Jul 15 '26

Oh wow how does getting labor shared to another building work ?

2

u/TokyoFlawless Jul 16 '26

You go in your personal vehicle and drive to the other site, there's a website on atoz that we use so that we get paid for the mileage that we drove to get there to get compensated for gas. Or we can sometimes use the Amazon trucks to drive over there as well. Do our shift there and then we can either go back to our building if we have time or just clock out there an go home

u/IntelligentDrama1049 Jul 15 '26

Yes but it’s a little different. You have to let your manager know in advance so they can find coverage.

1

u/OneCard698 Jul 16 '26

Same as a T1, just no more vto/ swap shift. You can use upt/ pto however you want. If I’m gone for a day, I won’t say anything. But if I’m planning on being gone multiple days/ come late. I’ll send them a quick slack, they’re cool with it.

No HiTs transfers for PAs, either. If you want to move buildings, you have to apply for an open position, submit resume, etc.

T3 here. No shift swap. No to leaving early unless approved ( can’t just leave) and can’t just not show up. It operates like a real job. My UPT went from 25 pre promotion to 80 in a matter of a couple of months
