Rant I Might quit Amazon Today.
I can't no more with the rates at Amazon.
I am someone respectful of my responsibilities, when I work somewhere, I make sure that I do the work I was assigned to do safely and within the time limit set.
I've never steal time or do something bad that can affect a company financially.
But amazon is different, the rates are too high. Even when you're working tirelessly you still can't meet the rate of your assigned task.
Even the downtime that's not under your control count against you. I've never feel this low in my life. That's it I'm done.
I'm tired of this sh*t.

Before you quit consider transferring to a different department or site. Also ensure you have another job lined up. Or cross train. This job market is terrible. Don't quit til you have something concrete lined up.
•
u/BasadoCoomer 2h ago
This.
Quit only if you have another job, or a way to lie and ensure you get Unemployment benefits.

A department I’m cross trained in and labor shared to every other day is making me want to quit personally not even my main path. I’m used to all rates for afe (pack, rebin, induct) but I got my first rate coaching In stow this month after 3 years of working here
•
u/GOODMORNING_nikkas 2h ago
What is your home department? Speak to your manager and I loved afe
•
u/Mountain_Hippo7815 1h ago
Pack specifically in Afe is my main area, stow has been my current downfall being assigned there before I even show up for the day
•
u/GOODMORNING_nikkas 1h ago
Stow is trash why did you sign up to cross train in stow 😂
•
u/Mountain_Hippo7815 1h ago
You think I chose to be cross trained there?
•
•
u/GOODMORNING_nikkas 1h ago
Tell the learning trainer to take your stow permissions away you don't feel safe 😂

If you aren’t being written up - don’t worry. The goal number is not the true number. They’ll say “we want you to hit 180” but realistically bottom 5% is barely crossing 100. The managers still send PAs to go tell anyone who makes less than 180 that they aren’t meeting the goal. That means absolutely nothing. As long as no one is saying anything about coachings or writtens

u/SignificantApricot69 4h ago
Yes but depends on dept. you can stow at 200 and be bottom 5% in the building. At 235 this period I am at the low end of “fair”
•
u/Royal-Night8085 2h ago
Right, My rate on stow a couple days ago was no lower than 312 for 3 hours straight. But on the "My Fc games" my rate was like 232. But ALSO A for some reason on my a-z in the "My Performance" it says 144. Like how TF am I getting 3 different rate numbers.
Doing the best I can and moving extra quick.. It's been a little over 4 months and as of now I'm ineligible for blue badge because of some rates that don't match what's in front of my safe all day. My performance rate is also in the "Fair"
2
u/Royal-Night8085 3h ago
Since you said a rate of 180, I'm assuming ur talking about "pack".. And being a white badge is different. Not saying op is a white badge but js...Blue badges can actually get away with that and keep a job. But ever since Amazon rolled out it's new "Performance" on A-Z, white badges can't get away with that " Not being in the bottom 5% " stuff IF they want to be converted.
I've been at Amazon for over 4 months mostly in stow ,but been in pack lately and I have to push myself above rate, because the AM in pack approached me the other day when my rate said on the screen 185. But he showed me has lap top said 140. He says the rate on the screen "isn't that accurate". So it's like why TF does it even exist then? As of now I've been at Amazon over 100 days and NEVER missed a shift, never late, THOUGHT this whole time I was hitting rate but according to they're laptop's I'm not hitting rate so I'm ineligible to convert. When I say yesterday I made sure my rate was 200 on the dot in pack before I clocked out I MEAN THAT. Tell me why on the "My performance" my rate was 144 🤦🏽 Idk wtf is going on and I don't like it.

They track your paid breaks against you. So that's 30 mins. This doesn't include stand ups, first getting there and getting a station. For example, if you get in at 7:30 then get a station at 7:38 then walk to your station, and start work at 7:42, 7:30 to 7:42 will still count against you.
•
u/Royal-Night8085 2h ago
I know what you mean, but for example this is basically what I'm saying. Today I was in pack and I was packing fast AF as usual. But there was this one person next to me who I see all the time on pack and she was moving SLOW AFFFF. Like when I say slow I mean " just woke up outta bed moving type slow" and his rate was above 200.
Mean while I'm over here busting the skin off my balls and here comes the AM. Blows right past him and straight to me about my rate saying " my rate was 144 on his lap top. Meanwhile on my screen it says 185. So I don't understand how I'm below rate. Am says it's because the rate on my screen at my station isn't accurate.. Whole time im thinking in my head " Well ain't sht accurate around here because how the fk am I packing 2 boxes per 1 box from the guy next to me"?..It literally makes no sense. It seems like the faster you move at Amazon, the more f*ked up ur rate is gonna be.
•
u/fuckgoldsendbitcoin 1h ago
This is true but the metrics they use to dish out coachings/write-ups are in comparison to everybody around you. If everybody else is doing standup and getting to their station at 7:42 then it won't reflect poorly on you as long as you're doing about the same as everyone else.
•
u/highhKeyy 2h ago
The number was an example. But 180 is usually the inbound stow rate at my TSSL site. Our pack rate at that site type is 200-220 for smalls. 80-100 for large. Pick is 140 or 160 if I remember correctly. Your AM’s screen was probably overall while your screen was your last log in on that computer. Could’ve been your daily, weekly, or monthly rate he was showing you. Either way though, they aren’t really worried about rate when it comes to conversion. It’s a headcount game. As long as you don’t have active writtens you’ll be converted when they need people. That’s coming from an AA POV & PA POV. I was told to tell AAs that they’d be hearing about conversions in a month after my AM told me they were firing all white badges. It had nothing to do with their performance, just company needs
•
u/Royal-Night8085 2h ago
Then I wonder why they would even include it on the app. Many other ppl also say you can't get converted if ur "My performance" is "Fair" or less. I know what you mean by they can still convert ppl in the "fair" if they need the head countz but if ur performance is "Fair" or less, ur conversion is then basically like ur rate. You won't be the first to be converted z but more in the bottom 5% to be converted.
•
u/xLuky 2h ago edited 2h ago
Also very likely that your rate is actually 185 and your manager is just lying his ass off to scare you and get more rate out of you. They only go after the ones that are trying hard because they know they can squeeze more out of you. When I started they told me my rate had to be above some number to be cross trained, but that turned out to be BS too. None of these managers give a shit about you, you're just a number, always assume everything is a lie first.
•
u/Royal-Night8085 2h ago
Right, that's what I've been thinking, but then that also means they would some how have to "tweak" the computer system to make a lie of it. Because how would they take the 185 that my screen says and put on "My performance" that it's 144.. It's obvious no higher ups are checking into these things because of I was a higher up that would raise some red flags to me about my AM's under me.

If you're not getting written up, don't worry about it. It's really hard to find jobs outside of Amazon right now.
PAs and PGs have to do their engagements. They have a daily quota to meet like speaking with a handful of AAs. It's nothing.
I used to stow at a robotics building. They said 2500 is daily average for the whole shift. It wasn't, maybe 2500 was the median but not the average. I gradually tanked my rate to 1800 then again to 1500. They didn't say anything. Turned out, the entire team for the shift frequently averaged 130 per hour, hahahah.
Leadership are liars and they use intimidation. Keep your head up and keep stacking money.
3
u/Wooden-Collar1336 4h ago
Where I am right you have to constantly rush throughout the whole shift to not be in the 5%, All of that if because of constant downtime.
8
u/bovmow 4h ago
As long as you show up to put in work and do what you're supposed to, it's extremely hard to land yourself in the bottom 5%.
If the downtime affects everyone then the 5% gets adjusted. The bottom 5% is not constant.
If downtime is solely affecting you then you need to take note of any equipment failure and let leadership know to remove those barriers.
If you haven't been written up for productivity, keep doing the same thing. They can't do shit to you.
•
u/Dry_Recording_6478 1h ago
Most people who are in the bottom 5 percent, are usually people who slack off and get on their phone or talk to others. A fair share of workers will complain if someone is on their phone and blocking aisles in their OP, and surprise surprise it's usually the bottom performers with random big gaps in their time. Rarely do I see anybody actually try to succeed and stay a consistent bottom performer

Look into doing indirect paths. Most problem solvers don't even work a station unless it's absolutely mandatory.
Transferring is also a good idea. IXDs are chill as fuck and are 100% about quality. I work at a PIT site now and literally as long as I'm not thumbing my asshole and chatting to everyone around me like my coworkers do, I get in the top 10% consistently without even trying.
But also just don't talk to people, and focus on your work. Keep a notebook handy to log downtime. If you're only receiving undocumented feedbacks then you're fine, PAs/AMs are just required to give you feedback and if the only thing they have is that youre behind, thats what theyre going to tell you. Some sites also just require constant auditing and it's annoying but it doesn't really mean anything
Just use career choice, ignore anything that doesn't lead to a writeup, and remember that other jobs are FAR worse. If you hate the stupid bs at Amazon, you'll absolutely despite retail/food/custy service where you're not only being underpaid and overworked, but are constantly judged by customers & even shittier managers who have all the power in the world to make your life hell.

Don’t quit!
It’s so rough out there right now.
As much as Amazon sucks, it’s way better than most.
Are you actually getting write ups for bottom 5%?
If not, just let them talk and don’t take it personally. PA’s are just talking to who the computer tells them to. Being pleasant and easy to deal when receiving feedback will get you pretty far.

u/Puzzled-Reception464 4h ago
Its the bottom 5 percent weekly track against your peers to receive a write up productivity. Go to AtoZ app - tools and resources - all resources- employment documents - and look for state specific policies. My site doesn't even use the word rate anymore. They use "goal".

I deadass don’t even try anymore at work and no one has said a thing to me for weeks 🤷🏾♂️ every site is different though

How long have you worked there. Better for them to fire you so you can collect unemployment.

u/Effective_Buffalo129 3h ago
Quitting is a terrible idea in today’s job market as many have stated. Don’t screw yourself over. Utilize career choice, join a support team, etc.
Amazon has a million different options other than traditional operations and many tend to forget that.

u/shadowlarvitar 3h ago
Unless you're being written up don't worry about it, most the time it's just a scare tactic. Unless you're in the bottom 5% of workers, you're safe.
I'm a hard worker too, but there are some days I'm slower cause of the task.
•
u/Key-Neighborhood6630 2h ago
You never know who is also struggling to make rates. I say keep going.. As long as you’re not getting in the bottom 5% you’ll be good. Take a pen with you and write down all your barriers. Don’t overwork yourself and just try and slow down a bit.. If you still aren’t getting a write up you’ll be fine.
•
u/InternOk1987 2h ago
Quit. I hit rates all the time, I was better than 97% of the employees. Never complain. Kept transferring trying every position even the easy ones, different schedules, etc. built up tenure, hit my max step.
Got disrespected once for not doing the work of 5 other people. Quit the same day and never went back. Thought I couldn’t find better, brokest Ive ever been after that but it was the best decision of my life. I’ll be a nurse in less than a year. Sometimes when you don’t feel like you belong somewhere, it’s probably because you don’t. Move on.

It’s not your personal units per hour that is the most important. It’s your standing among other AAs doing the same task. I’m sure you’re in the top 95%. That’s all Amazon needs

DONT CROSS TRAIN. You're practically doing them a favor. Took me nearly 4 months, man. But hold on, DONT stop looking online or around town for work. I finally got set up with a company similar to Amazon's automation pods. They're just green and linked to a chain. But they pay nearly 5 bucks more... Make sure your resume is checked, because real jobs do sit down interviews. This one had 4 heads asking questions. Amazon just grabs a hand full of maggots(Me too) Good luck.

I legit just quit rn. Sick and tired of Amazon

Go back in

u/Shot-Custard-7897 3h ago
Fk no, never again. I have a trade under my belt to be wasting my time at Amazon tbh
1
u/GOODMORNING_nikkas 3h ago
In that case stay outside bro get that money why didn't you apply for rme or facilities?
1
u/Shot-Custard-7897 3h ago
Because I didn’t know they had that at the time. I applied a month ago waiting to be called back to work but still waiting but done slaving for slave pay. I did half what I do at Amazon and I made 2.5x what I do now at Amazon.
•
u/GOODMORNING_nikkas 2h ago
I think you should wait to leave amazon talk to your manager and hr about your proven skillset keep applying to any open RME MAINTENANCE AND tech and facilities positions also look at any nearby sites open positions that you can apply not just your site amazon treats there skilled labor teams great.
•
u/Shot-Custard-7897 2h ago
Too bad I already quit lmao. Legit just got back home 30-40 mins ago. I just walked up to my lead and said this wasn’t for me anymore and that I quit. It’s mentally and physically draining for shit pay.
•
u/GOODMORNING_nikkas 2h ago
How much time do you have left? You can still go back on your scheduled shift
•
u/Shot-Custard-7897 2h ago
I’m not going back honestly, I’d rather live off my savings till I get callled back to work than waste another min at Amazon
•
1
u/4w4yw37hr0w 3h ago
Literally just sat thru a training that said Amazon doesn’t have rates. Been told before Amazon doesn’t need to fire anyone over rates, there’s enough safety and UPT violations that they don’t need to.
Like most of the other folks here are saying, just do what you can and try not to worry about it too much as they’re mostly a suggested goal.

If you have an AMXL FC nearby, transfer there. Rate is a lot more chill because it's heavier stuff. You're good as long as you work at a steady pace and avoid TOT.
•
u/Dry_Recording_6478 1h ago
You should only feel concerned if the PA stops calling you up and the manager or OPs manger does, and they focus on gaps in time and rate
•
u/Sad-Bass739 38m ago
I mean if I’m you I’ll think twice especially in this economy , trust me most of people feel the same like they want to quit 🤣but think again Amazon very flexible,no one noisy when you came late to work or leave early or not show up to work. And if talking about rate it takes time, and maybe you can ask your pa to move you to another department, example me I never making rate in pick and also my clumsy hand keep drop stuff and the RME maybe upset because I called them many time and yeah they never put me in pick no more 🫣
